I recommend starting with 'breakthrough' mode rather than 'conquest' mode, as long as you're not familiar with the maps. This helps avoid finding yourself in an uncovered line of fire at any moment and will improve your survival on the battlefield.
Really gotta disagree. Most breakthrough games are a lopsided mess in my experience (1000+ hrs). You are either steamrolling or getting steamrolled. A frontline between both teams hardly ever forms as a result of attacker gunships constantly dropping players behind you. Plus these gunships are always there from sector 1 to the end of the map. If you're new, I strongly recommend conquest over breakthrough.
The big problem with the game is the netcode. It wasn't solved for many people me included. It creates a situation where it determines how the game plays not me. You can only take being killed through objects and by 1 frame kills, hit markers and no damage and having to shoot 30 to 50 bullits to get a kill for so long before you give up. Watching videos of it is nothing like the experience I have. As a player who bought all the bf games this one has put me off. It's not a question of wether it's worth it in 2024, it's broken and hasn't been fixed so wasn't worth it from day 1.
Hi, I'm in the uk, there isn't an issue with matchmaking, it's solely a netcode issue. I kept being drawn back every time there was an update hoping it would be resolved but nothing happened. As the game is now effectively in its final stage in 2024 it remains a frustrating experience which is a shame as I would have kept playing until the next one instead of looking for a better option.
One only needs to turn on the in game Network Monitor in Settings to see that there are frequently times when the Server hits are 15-50% lower then your Client hits (for NA region at least). Mouse and keyboard input is terrible. Been playing since BF1942 and for me BF2042 actually became more and more frustrating as none of this was addressed over the entire lifespan. An FPS with bad netcode and input is not good so how did it improve?
This is exactly my experience too. I end up giving it up too. I have played all the BF before this one too. Some on PC some on console. Even BF4 was periodically fixed like not like this. And the next game is being build over this mess, how can even have a chance to be any good?
No, played the beta and decided I didn't like game and looked like a cartoon. Got it free on PS+ and now that only few are still playing it, it shows how unbalance it is. BF1 and BF5 mixed teams so you had a chance winning a match. Airpower need to limits on flames .
I preordered it but the 60 dollar one, played the first day and saw the bugs, didn’t touch it for a week and coming back to it, it works fine and loved it ever since
In my experience from Bad Company 2, Bf3, and Bf4, the same problems they have also exists in BF2042. I would have to say BF4 was the game that actually started to feel like a COD game. To see it to the fullest on 2042 is to be expected because the main goal for EA was to make it casual and attract other players from different shooter titles. Fortnite has done it, COD as well. I'm actually enjoying bf2042 in its current state unlike the launch where I couldn't play this game at all. I did ignored it for two years while playing other games like Skyrim, Wuthering Waves and Bf3 from time to time. When I saw Jack Frags posted a video of bf2042 being an enjoyable game, that is when I knew that it's time to enjoy the game as I always enjoyed Battlefield games over the past 16 years. Bf2042 has the smoothest Sniping like Bad Company 2, the LMGs feel as great as BF4, and the maps are a mix bag of Bf3's Armored Shield DLC, Back to Karkand DLC, and BF4's Final Stand maps. I know that a lot of players hate big maps, but I love them. Big maps and tanks go together in my opinion and to see vault vehicles make a grand entrance to normal multi-player is going to be a lot of fun. I haven't played the previous seasons, so replaying those gamemodes is going to be a good experience for me. I do miss the campaign and the Test Range, but the solo-co op mode is helping me compensate that problem because it is the fastest way to unlock all the attachments. Redacted is my testing map when I play solo to test which guns are great to use and which ones to avoid if I lack the skill on that weapon. Playing solo is also helping me get to know the maps a lot better and to find ways to flank and maneuver. I don't care too much about Hazard Zone because I'm always a Conquest tryhard lol! Your tips have helped me out quite a lot, I hope you still make more bf2042 content.
Wish they could have just expanded on BF3. the maps, the attention to detail, the sounds, gameplay and the scoreboard just worked so well. They peaked too early with BF3 and BF4 and went downhill after that.
as someone that comes from cod and halo i want to say that its awesome ive played for a couple of weeks now! But i cant stand conquest so ive been playing rush chaos and shutdown gamemode. Really fun battlefield does small maps and teams really well aswell for those who are into that
2042 now is excellent. It plays great. I have 2,400+ hours and enjoy everything, but the hacker/cheaters. I hope DICE will give us some surprise updates. It's hard to play legacy Battlefield games (4, V, 1, HL), 2042 surpassed them except for maps. Legacy remastered maps would be incredible in 2042. BTW, try 1st tiering all the weapons. It is a areal challenge.
Yes more remasters would be great, but I doubt we will see any more maps for the game. T1 for all weapons definitely is a challenge. There are not too many who have accomplished this. :D
This is a half finished game but when it comes to the gunfights it feels accurate. I usually play tdm and if you leave a campy lobby you get put with the same players again,i do try conquest but it's not really enjoyable for me. Other than that it's definitely better than cod and there's no torturous sbmm.
Personally I found it wasn’t worth it when it came out and still isn’t worth it now. I’ve tried to enjoy it, but I’ve jumped back into BF1 or BF5 and had 100% more fun. 🤦♂️
It's finally at the starting line of being really good. And just like with Star Wars Battlefront 2, that's when EA decides to kill support. It's fun but you can never shake off the feeling that they were just scratching the surface. Can't wait to go through this again in Battlefield 2025.
I bought the game for the sale there was a week ago for 9€ and for that price its an amazing battlefield... Considering my Matchmaking issues i wouldve refunded it for 60€ pretty fast but for the price i paid i am still having a tonne of fun playing portal and conquest reliving a bit of the BF3 times and levelling specialists
Game is stale for me and I have 700 hours on it. I deleted it and moved on. BF3 and BF4 I have more then 2000 hours for each game. The game doesn’t offer experiences that the other games did. Hopefully the new battlefield does its own thing and not follow every other shooter out there right now. 64 players , better maps, classes, more weapons and customization and of course modern day and destruction! EASY FORMULA FOR A GREAR BATTLEFIELD!!
Remember, they had a great reputation and with Battlefield 1, it was a tremendous success.. a trophy if you will...which they through down in the dirt with Battlefield V......from a perfect gameplay perspective to let's redesign the wheel..and fail....it didn't improve after that.
I bought this game for €5 on steam a month ago. Currently got 70 hours on it and actually quite enjoyed it. Didn't seem to be that much wrong with it. I don't care for skins and shit so that doesn't bother me all that much (I just ignore it). It runs great on my PC 7800x3d 4070 TI S and it looks quite good in HDR on my 4k 240hz OLED screen. I'm lowkey having a blast in it and keep coming back to it when I have time for it The only thing I sometimes have is, we play a lot of the same maps over and over and if I want to do Portal I want to do Portal not 2042 in that mix...
This game was good for me, I played BF4 a little and too much, then BF2015 and enjoyed quite a bit. This game I got it for 20 dollars from someone in 2022 and played every season. I will go back from time to time but I am kinda moving on from it.
I've reinstalled and downloaded this game probably over 10 times. It's probably in the best state ,Yes. However it used to be kind of fun to shoot at people and get some kills however I find it way too sweaty almost to the degree of modern warfare 3. Video games have become way too competitive and losing player bases on shooters leaves the sweats on and whenever the casuals get on they get destroyed.
Thanks for all you've covered on the game, was so disappointed with everything we got and the final product we ended up with. Now i struggle to find a comp fps to play in the meantime of hoping that Black Ops 6 is good since BF7 is so far away. Everything else out right now is a Battle Royal when all i want is a regular shooter like MW 2019 or the previous Battlefield tittles.
I played in beta too, my pc is not that strong to run at max graphics, but i got it last steam sale, and i'm enjoying a lot portal mode, seems the only mode that is optimized haha
My GOD, how do you have so many full servers in server browser?? I searched yesterday and there wasn't a single full server, and only 2 or maybe 3 that were more than 50% full.
I just stated playing recently and find it really fun. It feels like the hate for it is over exaggerated, or based on an idea of what it ought to be rather than what it is. It's certainly as good as what one should expect from an ea game (overdeveloped, underefined). But we'll see.
a lot of 2042 haters are sadly stuck in a denial fueled time warp from almost 3 years ago and can't admit the game is actually in a solid spot right now. sad
neither did battlefield 4 and it took another studio in America to fix it , They seem to have a problem with the new frostbite engine every time the engine is gets added features , it seems sweden has a problem with the new engine all the time.
The only good battlefield game to me is anything after bf4. Everything before that was shit, everyone swears by bad company but to me it sucked ass… the fact that you say this is a ripoff cod game is comical to me. Nowhere close
The next game will be like this one, complete trash. Live service is code for failgame from EA Dice. So sad hopefully the Chinese game Delta Force will be better
No, not good with full price. Game has so many bugs and glitch's and it get boring after 50 hours. if you have friends that play it a lot and if it cost 10$ then ya it would be good but I bet new player s will get bord with the game.
I recommend starting with 'breakthrough' mode rather than 'conquest' mode, as long as you're not familiar with the maps. This helps avoid finding yourself in an uncovered line of fire at any moment and will improve your survival on the battlefield.
