    This is a very good video in many ways, but am I the only one to notice that the diaphragm is shown rising during inhalation when it actually flattens? And when the commentary says 'Watch the diaphragm relax to exhale' the animation doesn't show that at all!

    I caught that also Simon. The diaphragm should show lowering and flattening during inhalation. An egregious error coming from a reputable foundation such as this.

    Why is oxygen @ 4:35 making the red blood cells blue (deoxygenated) instead of red (oxygenated) when oxygen is going into them?

    • @i-Seq
      @i-Seq 9 років тому +1

      Doc Because it goes to the heart. Blue (veins) goes to the heart, red (arteries) comes from it.

  • @christopherhall5361
    @christopherhall5361 7 років тому

    Arteries carry oxygenated blood in most cases, but the pulmonary artery actually carries un-oxygenated blood. A more accurate description for arteries is, carries blood from the heart to the rest of the body.

    I've had so much trouble understanding something. When you breathe, you also breathe through your stomach, but when you're upside down or on your side and full of food or water I can still breathe through my stomach. What is this black magic??

    If the blood is picking up oxygen from the alveoli, wouldn't those capillaries that pick up the O2 converge to become veins, since this oxygenated blood has to go back to the heart as part of the pulmonary circuit before it can be pumped by the heart to the rest of the body? So those are veins, not arteries. Right?

    Respiration is NOT breathing. Respiration is a chemical process. What is described in the video is ventilation. Please update.

    The lungs aren’t position accurately at all. Upper lobes start just above the medial clavicle. They way too low in the animation

    why do we even need lungs? its a very primitive and energy consuming organ. we need to replace it with something superior machine. It will just eradicate the lung problems

    • @kacy-mariesutton4994
      @kacy-mariesutton4994 7 років тому

      +anata bhat Well, clearly someone's never attended a biology class in their life. How can you live if you can't breathe, smartass...?

    • @anantabhat5933
      @anantabhat5933 7 років тому

      Breathing is the problem, right? That something *superior machine* I talked about will take care of the job of inserting o2 into the body and other jobs like purifying the blood and even helping in metabolism while consuming less energy. How about such a machine?
