    Before I ever got into guns this much now, I have no idea how firearms work. Yes, I know the basics but that it.... Now, after building 2 AR's this last few months I know the guns and every part to them and know what every part does. Building your own guns makes your knowledge that much better about firearms..... Budget is what you are able to get with what resources you have.... everyone's budget is different....

    I like to compare firearms to a Baseball Bat. You can spend $400 on a Bat or $50. Unless you are at a high level, the problem is not the Bat, it is the Batter.

    Great video. One thing that gets me is when you have some of these guys review a budget AR without any malfunctions and they might even go as far as to show that they shot tight groups with it but they still can't recommend it for home defense or duty use. I understand what's important in a rifle that you can stake your life on and many of the budget line of guns meet all of those criteria. In law enforcement for example, why does the gun have to have a cold hammer forged barrel when shooting out barrel won't happen overnight, and even if you do that's not a reliability issue; the accuracy will not go from sub MOA to shooting 3" groups overnight anyway. In truth, by the time anyone might begin to notice any accuracy issues with, say a nitrided barrel they'll probably already have more than one rifle in their collection.
    Another issue some have with "low end" rifles is that the BCG may not have the gas key properly staked with grade 3 fasteners, or it may not be made with carpenter 158 steel and so on but even at that I'd rather have something that I can afford than to have nothing at all and how difficult is it to upgrade a BCG at a later time anyway? As to barrels, I'm not saying that there aren't certain advantages to CHF barrels or other upgrades that can be included with higher end rifles, but the lack thereof doesn't necessarily preclude a rifle from being "duty grade". Frankly, I'd rather have 3 decent rifles that can get the job done than to have only one rifle with all the bells and whistles. PSA comes to mind when considering low cost but reliable rifles, and if for instance a CHF barrel means a lot to you, they offer FN barrel options as well. That being said, one can start with a bare bones rifle and upgrade to a pre-assembled upper with a CHF barrel later, or if they have she skill they can simply upgrade the barrel at a later time. That's one of the great things about the AR platform, one can start with something to get them into the game and gradually make upgrades over time.
    All this to say that for someone to say that a budget rifle or handgun can't be used for personal defense, home defense or even for duty purposes is a farce. Just my two.

      So your saying you’d rather have the eBay turbo over the garret? But but a turbo is a turbo would be the same implication here. And we all know eBay turbos are trash. Buy quality weapons and parts and stop cheating out on something you literally would use to defend your life. Just like car parts you could pay for an Anderson/psa/ bca/ radical and get monkey level wuality like a ebay turbo, or you could spend some good money of something like a bcm with a aerospace quality and qc like the garret turbo.

    • @HatsuneM1ku01
      @HatsuneM1ku01 7 місяців тому

      It all comes down to what your paying for, when you buy higher tier manufacturers your buying better qc. Your more likely to have issues and a bunch of out of spec parts on a psa or Anderson than your are on something like a bcm. Psa and Anderson pretty much literally machine and slap their rifle together like monkeys and only inspect 1 or 2 parts from a whole batch of parts. where a company like bcm quite literally has an aerospace level qc and inspection department and pretty much inspects all those parts and rifles and checks that everything meets standards before leaving the factory.

    I have $2500 "top tier" ARs, $1200-$1500 "mid tier" and several $500 "Poor's tier" rifles. My top 3 "go to" are a mid a two Poor's tier rifles! My Gucci $2500 AR isn't even in my top 10! My Go To War AR is a $450 80% home built 14.5"!
    Spend your money on a GOOD barrel and BCG, watch your tolerance stacking and you are golden! The brand of upper or lower means LESS than nothing and a decent milspec LPK is just fine. The heart of the rifle is the BCG and barrel so don't skimp on them. Get a good BCM, SOL or other quality BCG and Ballistic Advantage makes some damn good barrels for a good price.

      @@codegumby secondly, How old are you? I find it HARD to believe that you’ve owned 600 rifles! Even if you HAVE and you think a $3k rifle makes you better? You should have spent all that money on ammo and training! I’ve been a smith for 20 years and can build a better rifle for 1/3 the cost. Hell! Every $800-$1000 COLT is just as good or better than the over priced “top tier” ARs! The contract Colts are the best commercial rifle on the market!

    • @codegumby

      @GenX-Grampa 8 місяців тому +1

      @@codegumby it wasn’t “obvious” when you wrote “I have owned 600 rifles” you didn’t use a dollar sign, but whatever.
      I will also disagree that ANY rifle’s “fit and finish” is worth $2000 more than a MID TIER rifle! Outside of static shooting at the range, I will take a $800-$900 Colt LE6920 over any “Top Tier” rifle I can think of. Even a DD or Knights! And I love DD and Knights! I have both but they are no better than a Colt half the price!
      Bottom line, I don’t give 2 shits what someone prefers or wants to spend their money on, just don’t spew the “how much better they are” BS! Fit and finish doesn’t mean snot in a firefight! The BCG and Barrel are the heart of the rifle! Forged uppers and lowers are all made in the same handful of forges and furniture is furniture. You can do the same work with a PSA that you can with a DD, period. Especially a PSA with the FN barrel!

You're talking to someone who bought a bunch of them, swearing up and down that there must be some magic company that can do the same thing as the other companies for cheaper. It took a guy at the range watching me, and offering to help me 0 my rifle to show me that cheap optics don't work. He put my rifle on his sled, and showed me everything he was doing, and we determined that the optic would change 0, ever so slightly after every shot. And why is budget used in the same sentence for life preserving equipment, that’s why most people have a ar as a defensive tool.. all lowers are pretty much the same, if you can’t spend 800-1000 on an upper then save until you can. BCM, PWS, Sons of liberty are all go to companies that have uppers for under 1k. Psa has uppers that are in that price range now too. Sure budget stuff is good for range use but I wouldn’t want to depend my life on it in a defensive situation.

    A couple of data points. Industry secret, many top shelf brands parts are actually oem'd by budget companies. As a dude that used to work in an aerospace machine shop in the quality department that cut parts for a ton of different companies. Is one brand really 5x better and worth 5x the price when the material is sourced from the same place, it's all cut on the same machines and it all runs through the same quality department being checked with the same calipers, the same mics and on the same cmm machines... no. The quality difference at that point is based on marketing not material. Point being the budget shit is way better than its given credit for and the tier 1 shit isn't as much better as the people buying it want to believe. Just as good really is a thing when most of it all comes from the same places. Just facts.

      @At3tactical another quick data point... I've spent ALOT of money on guns and gear. For example Norinco NDM86 in 308... only 1500 were imported into the US before the gubment shut down the imports.... anyway, I had a Daniel defense m4a1 that the hammer and trigger pins were slightly out of spec and the barrel wasn't centered in the ris 2 handguard it was off to one side... I'm not saying this to shit on Daniel defense. They are a great company that makes great stuff... I never made a big deal out of it because neither issue cause a functional problem. The rifle functioned flawlessly despite the defects. The point I'm trying to make by saying all that is if a "quality brand" has an issue it's largely brushed by with 'it happens' and 'they have excellent customer service' but if a budget company has a qc issue (even if it's rectified by customer service) it's rock solid evidence that the whole company is trash and will get you killed. I'm sure you've witnessed this phenomenon yourself.

    As an anime fan, I felt this. Lol. Every community has its gatekeepers and shamers, or, as I like to call them what they are; snobs. You were right on the money, saying that kind of attitude is "anti-grow". As people who enjoy things, whether guns or anime, we should want as many people to come into the fold as possible.
    I've spent a lot of money on budget guns, whole or build(ish). (Not done a complete build, yet.) For that money, I've gotten more guns than what the snobs have gotten. And, I trust EVERY one of them with my life.
    Hell, just built an AR-9 pistol, with a KVP upper, a PSA lower, and various parts/accessories from around the web. Whatever was cheap (in cost), that I researched, and put together for less than 800 bones. That includes 3 PMag/Endomag combos, and Mean Arms new Exomags that I'm still waiting on!
    My philosophy is simple: Go as cheap as possible, but well researched, because even high end stuff fails. It's cheaper to buy 2 (or 3 or 4) whole new budget guns, than 1 high end. Ergo, cheaper to fix/replace. Plus, most snob wannabes aren't the operators they think they are. They're mostly basement dwelling, fedora wearing, neck beards, who are only going to get close to anything tactical by playing COD. (Army vet, OIF, myself, and I know the M4 I carried was no DDM4.) Whatever works, is reliable, is what matters most, if you should need it. With lower costs, you can afford to play around more, and figure out what works.
    Oh, and what the hell, I have even bought off Amazon, and have been blown away by the cheap stuff on there. Particularly by some optics, and gear by Monstrum. Can't even knock Amazon. Lol.

Plus, I've got the guns and gun belts to go along with the attire. They ain't cheap, either. I watched a vid of a Daniel defense on full auto rupture the barrel after 600 rnds I understand that chances of u ever having to run 600 rounds on full auto will probly never happen but I'm not sure my gen 1 sig m400 isn't a better rifle at half the price or just as good got my sub 💯✊️

      Doubt it was the barrel. More like the gas tube. It’s pretty hard to bust a Chf barrel. More than likely if the barrel busted it was more the ammo and less the gun. Probably a squib that wasn’t caught, then fired the next round with one round already plunging the barrel.

    Sorry but I had to add another comment here. I understand that China is not one of our allies, but if it should come to an actual armed confrontation between the American citizenship and China we can use the affordable tools they sell to us against them. How ironic would that be? Sure, it'd be great if we could all afford to mount Trijicon Acogs on all of our guns but rather than wait until we can spend $1,200 or more on a single optic why not get into the game with more affordable options as long as that gets us into the game?

      @@HatsuneM1ku01 I picked up at Holosun 515GT-GR and it's every bit as good as an Aimpoint with more features. If you look into the specs it's even go a higher g force rating and can withstand submersion down to 30 meters under water. It's titanium construction may be a bit overkill since that makes it tougher than any rifle you'd ever mount it on but I love it. For about the price of an Aimpoint Pro it blows it and even a T2 out of the water. I also have other lower cost Holosun models and even they haven't disappointed.

    Firearms community reminds me of the motorcycle community... A meet up typically has half a dozen Hyabusas and R-1s, twenty custom Harleys, and the token Ducati with 900 miles on it.
    All posturing to be king of the parking lot. THEN there the few beater rat bikes that get shit on by the people who never go over 50 on their two wheeled rocket or can afford the expensive sled.
    Those taped together old Japanese irons are ridden and wrenched on constantly. The guys that ride those are typically better riders because they actually ride the f-ing things.
    Shitting on me because I have $20 dollar iron sights from Amazon as compared to your Sig factory irons is ridiculous. They are the same thing.

    • @HatsuneM1ku01
      @HatsuneM1ku01 7 місяців тому

      No they literally are not, go buy an nc star iron sight and tell me how well they hold up and zero compared to a psa/colt forged iron sight. They are not even remotely the same. And your airsoft Amazon red dot that doesn’t hold zero and disintegrates when bumped isn’t even remotely close to an aim point pro or holosun 403. Stop spreading bull shit and buy duty quality shit and stop being a cheap fucc with a bunch of garbage rod with canted sights that don’t shoot straight and don’t zero. You come off as a just point and shoot and just slap parts on your rifle without dialing it in.

The reticle is etched so you can still use it without any light. Glass is pretty clear. I love that damn thing. It holds zero & works excellent. I couldn't bring myself to pay for a legit acog. Not when I can get something so close that's a fraction of cost!

    Its not all that difficult to measure the parts against know AR15/M16 mill specification prints.

    Built a m4a1 clone off a psa upper and lower and i think it was less about $500 with a microbest bcg, romeo 5, quad rail, and broomstick. That's tax shipping(was free during a special for lower) and $55 transfer fee.
    Shoots 1inch groups at 50yds bag rested (with a red dot if i had some magnificantion I'd take it to 100yds for an accurate moa group testing) using pmc xtac 55gr. Still haven't tested a bunch of ammo through it yet either. No complaints.
    Got one of their ar 10s in 308 and it was under 800 for everything and a couple mags. Up to about 1300 with optic and bipod and furniture, but that shoots .75-1 moa all day.
    Psa makes some decent stuff for sure. Issue is most people buying their stuff aren't as knowledgeable or willing to test out different ammo to see what it likes.

      If we're talking ARs I genuinely enjoy Cmmg parts for a decent mix of quality, style and price. Solid mid-tier that has a fantastic lower parts kit. Aero would be the go to popular choice, they took a dip in QC in 2020 like many, but they're going strong now. Just a couple suggestions there. But if I was to say how can you get the most for your money. Pair an complete Bcm upper with a complete lwrc Ambi lower for 1500-1700 total depending on the site you get them from and it won't be lacking in quality or modern features, period.

    Collecting guns is a hobby preparing for the rise and inevitable surmounting tyranny that is present in our world is not a hobby it's a necessity in a duty to all citizens but yet I digress when you're just business man wanting to sell it sell cheap shit and make Capital off of people's inability sometimes to afford to fight to prepare to prepare for that tyranny etcetera but yeah I digress as a businessman who cares right you don't care businessman capitalists with no scruples whatsoever who are just greedy bastards and will sell you the cheap snake oil or the enemy of the gun industry or the enemy of the citizen who knows his real rights and responsibilities to his country so that being said that's a shame I thought 83 was better than that but maybe they're just hobbyists and jerks who just want to make money off of people but I digress not saying that other companies don't want to make money as well but that's unfortunate because that has nothing to do with a real meaning of selling weapons to citizens who want to be prepared and ready to defend himself against whatever threat may arise

The thought that those who don't buy/own guns for purposes of Tyranny protection ONLY, is extremely antiquated and mostly propped up by public figures who think their opinion matters more than anyone else's. Are you going to stand there and tell me that you've never ever went to the range for "Fun". You've never cracked a smile at the range...because God forbid shooting starts to feel like a hobby and you just want more & more?
