Thank you so much for uploading this. BJ from Sherman Oaks (in the second half) is my grandma! When we found this, it made her day to get to see this episode that she hasn't seen since it aired! Thank you again. You have no idea how great this is for me and my family!
Edie Adams was so talented! She was an actress, singer, (of popular songs, musicals and opera) and made many of her own clothes which were brilliant...
Thank you for bringing back one of the first game shows I really enjoyed. I think it had a higher caliber of stars than T.V. game shows had ever seen at that time. That makes it somewhat historically significant.
Superb episode - thanks for uploading. So glad this YT channel exists and CBS hasn't challenged any copyright infringement or anything. These shows are great entertainment.
At almost each intro. Allen Luden looks so surprised at the audience, when they applaud him. When he speaks of Edie's return, he must have meant after ERNIE KOVACS death in a car accident in Jan. 1962. My Mom always talked about how it took her a long time to get over it. My parents watched Ernie & Edie religiously .
I played it over and over again but I couldn't hear what the contestant said at approximately 5:03 (that people laughed so loudly at) (obviously he didn't give the correct word which was "Belly"). Did anybody else hear what he said? (It sounded like he said "ultimate").
I can't even HEAR Robert Stack without expecting to see him in a trench coat introducing a mystery. ETA: Nowadays, if the word CRAMP came up, someone would be unembarrassed to say, "Menstrual ..."
Although obviously "Merlin" worked for "Magic" but I would've used its exact synonym (and would just hope the contestant understood it) and said "Prestidigitation."
Robert Stack in the Untouchables was my favorite TV serie in the 60’s. Unfortunately the Finnish TV banned it because of too much violence. Today that probably would be PG or something.
From the Wikipedia entry for Don Ameche: In 1939, Ameche played the title character in The Story of Alexander Graham Bell (1939). It led to the use of the word "ameche" as juvenile slang for a telephone, as noted by Mike Kilen in the Iowa City Gazette (December 8, 1993): "The film prompted a generation to call people to the telephone with the phrase: 'You're wanted on the Ameche.'" Such an identity between Ameche and the telephone was forged, that in the 1940 film Go West, Groucho Marx proclaims, "Telephone? This is 1870, Don Ameche hasn't invented the telephone yet."
The word "Chauffeur" comes up fairly often in this program. My 1st clue (cinch?) Is to say the word/clue "Driver" in a very haughty, British accented way… I think it would cinch it just about every time. (For extra credit, roll your Rs :-)
At first I thought Edie Adams was being SLIGHTLY pretentious and a bit of a sore loser. Then I looked her up and found that she was an Aries, and suddenly it all made sense!!
Of course, the Dr. was needed, otherwise twits like Edie Adams would have run wild. The Producer did not know words. Allen Ludden could not spllll 2 sav hiz lif.
Seriously crummy episode. Ugh! Ditsy Edie Adams giggling for NO reason at all (too many happy pills maybe?) and Robert Stark sitting there utterly lost like a deer on a highway at nighttime. Bad day to be on PW for the contestants who were trying to win some cash. Then, to make a bad episode even worse, the fawning A.L. invites the two ding-a-lings back someday. This one goes into the top Twenty WORST PW episodes. She was 100% better as a sales gal for cigars than she was as a game show guest.

She is lovely.
that's so awesome!
Congratulations! This must be a GREAT thrill for you!!
God Bless her. 🙏🏼❤️🕊
☺️
I am here just to see Robert Stack😍 what a man!! Very handsome😍 I love his voice 😍❤😘😘😘😘
Edie Adams was so talented! She was an actress, singer, (of popular songs, musicals and opera) and made many of her own clothes which were brilliant...
@@randysills4418 Thank you
So cute how stressed Robert Stack kept getting❤️ And such a cute smile :)

How cute that Robert Stack gets so ruffled! And everyone is so nice and mannerly

Twenty years after Ernie Kovacs was killed, his daughter Mia Susan, the child Edie and Ernie had together, was killed in a car accident.
Tragic!!!
Well Edie certainly looks awesome.
Ernie Kovacs was a huge talent. Very much ahead of his time.
Edie Adams resembles Shirley Jones a little. Adams was really sweet.
I had to watch it cos I though THEY made an error in names hehe
Pre-"Unsolved Mysteries" Robert Stack!
Post-Untouchables Robert Stack
He was a movie and TV star before
Stack seemed overly nervous on this show...so did Edie...
Each time he's been on, I KNEW his name sounded familiar
That hair do on Edie! I wouldn’t mind it myself!
love seeing these shows again,I recorded these myself but were lost in a fire.I hope someone got the daytime color versions somewhere..
Kirk Morgan I hope so too. I'm searching around trying to expand my collection with the goal of putting as much as I can on UA-cam. Enjoy!
They're around. You just have to search them out. Not easy to find.
In case you never found them, I purchased The Best Of Password DVD on Amazon. It contains 30 episodes, some in B&W, others in color.
From CBS Television City in Hollywood.
I love Edie's thick eyebrows (and I'm not being facetious :-)
The men back in those days were good looking
The good-looking ones were! They weeded out the uglies!
I was 🤣 LMAO...Robert Stacks fidgety intense play and Edie were actually a fun combo....😂
Edie coughed in her hand and then immediately shook hands with her partner.
We're conditioned to notice things like that these days.
@@karendeaton9297 Actually, it would have been considered disgusting even way back then.
I've never heard of Edie Adams. What did she do?
I wonder if Edie ever came back for more Password games?
Robert Stack knew who I was
"Who made the record?" Bobby Darin: Splish-Splash.
10:33 we know, but Edie was clueless as to what he was talking about
@@waldolydecker8118 Right--which was pathetic.

Born to late. Very famous for "The Untouchables".
Wow. That is THE Ted Lutz! @13:22
Whose Ted Lutz ?
He had that haunting voice even then
Although obviously "Merlin" worked for "Magic" but I would've used its exact synonym (and would just hope the contestant understood it) and said "Prestidigitation."

Thought Alexzander Graham Bell invented the telephone

His name is LAUREN?

Idents:
Formation (5 seconds)
Formation (9 seconds; partial)
Poor Robert Stack looks like he's gonna faint. 😅
I didn't like daytime Password. Contestants came and went to quickly ! Not fair
Wow - it looked like Stack picked the wrong week to quit smoking.
I don't know Edie!
At first I thought Edie Adams was being SLIGHTLY pretentious and a bit of a sore loser. Then I looked her up and found that she was an Aries, and suddenly it all made sense!!
Also, her husband had died just the year before.
She is being pretentious. Definitely wanting all the attention on her.
Robert Stack lacks manners, never standing to greet his partner, even if it's a woman. CRASS!!!
Um...what?!
and Edie coughed in her hand before shaking!! Where they get these pigs?!😡
Maybe Allen should have thrown out the word when Edie said "Kelly" before saying stomach.
It didn’t help either one.
Edie and robert worst contestants ever
This is the worst episode of Password I've seen and I've watched a lot of them. Horrible clues!
This game is rigged.
Robert stack has no personality at all.. This is the wrong show for him.
Mr. Stack is a horrible player.
Dr. Goodwin really wasn't needed. The producer could of been the judge, like later Password in the 70's and 80's.
Of course, the Dr. was needed, otherwise twits like Edie Adams would have run wild. The Producer did not know words. Allen Ludden could not spllll 2 sav hiz lif.
