I can understand why you feel like everyone and their dog is reacting to Tool...but that's simply because it's true...but there is a reason for it. Tool sets many precedents and benchmarks. They are worth the analysis. I hope you don't stop listening to Tool songs you haven't heard yet....We are here for you and your experience and thoughts. And there is much more to hear my friend. Don't let the seemingly over-saturated community dictate your song choice, listen to what moves you, and Tool most certainly seems to do that for you. Much love to you my friend. At the very least, New Tool album drops in 2019!!
And on that note you come at your tool listens from a very different angle. You're not new to the genre, and you analyse the songs as a listener and a fan, rather than an "expert". Keep it up, every time I see a tool video of yours I end up listening to that album for a week. Oh, I'll chuck a song recommendation in here too; I not long ago stumbled across a band called Traverser. I'd say checkout the song Redshift, but honestly both albums are really strong. Definitely a prog influence but with some really nice hooks and really talented musicians.
I was about to write something supportive, but Bricktowne said it better than I would have. I echo those sentiments. We can all listen and discuss Tool songs on our own, but we come here to share this with YOU. Sharing in your experiences deepen our appreciation, for what that's worth. Thank you for all you do.
He isn't just listening and saying "wow", either. That's why I love watching him. He's interested in the music theory behind it. Probably the most authentic music reactor on UA-cam.

The masses have spoken. Even myself who caught them supporting RATM in 93 then back again in 94 in Newcastle, they were one of a number of bands i was into. Roll forward and I enjoyed more than ever rediscovering TOOL through reaction videos. You and a handful of others give a good take. Other channels are doing a lot of everything. Do your own thing and thats being you. Tool videos are popular for many reason, lets just all celebrate a once in a life time band. 4 members all master at their craft.
Jim, I just want to thank you for your videos, especially your reactions to tool. They've been my favorite band for the past 15 years, but I wasn't able to listen to them for some time. My husband committed suicide this February, and tool was his favorite as well. It was too painful to listen to them, but singlehandedly, you are the reason I am able to enjoy them again. I stumbled upon your channel and was moved by your response to them. So from the bottom of my heart, than you for bringing some joy back in to my life. You'll never know how much it means to me. Sincerely, Dal.
There is nothing I can say that cannot sound trite, clichéd or superficial. I am so, so sorry to hear your story Dal. I can't possibly claim that I set out to help you, or indeed anyone else for that matter, but I feel humbled that as an indirect consequence of me listening to music, I've brought some light and joy back into your life. Take care my friend xxx
Jim, I sincerely understand your consternation about doing TOOL reacts videos on a platform "awash" with like content. As a TOOL fanatic of 25 + YEARS - I truly look forward to your reaction/reviews of TOOL's music....primarily because it is clearly obvious that you understand musical theory and have a musicians ear. I don't know why the vicarious validation of one's own musical passion is so appealing, but please don't stop. I love how much you space them out. It feels like an actual treat when you release a new TOOL vid. I watch all your other stuff as well, but as an OLD SCHOOL TOOL HEAD, love yr TOOL reacts. The others are garbage
You seem to really get into the music genuinely, you're rocking out with us not just sitting there and blankly watching the video, please dont stop.doing tool
I’m impressed with your interpretation of Maynard’s lyrics. Probably the most intelligent description I’ve heard. And now that you mention it I’m completely bummed that they didn’t do a parabola with the musical structure. What a great idea you had.
Stick with the way you do the tool vids, every few weeks is good. I enjoy your reactions to them more than the others. You are the one that got me hooked on tool reactions. I value your opinion. Youre now part of the TOOL ARMY, theres no getting out of it 😈
Jim, the fact is that I come to this channel to hear your honest reaction/opinion. And the reason I gravitate to your channel is because I respect your open mindedness, honesty, humour, and keen musical knowledge. Jim + Tool is too good of a combo. Just keep doing what you do at your own pace brother✌️
I started watching Tool reactions because I haven't been able to experience a Tool song for the first time since 2006, so watching other people do it is almost just as fun.
Don't stop! The reason I love when your reactions come up is because 1.) You're actually musically intelligent, you understand meters, rhythms, polyrhythms, crossrhythms, etc. and 2.) You pay attention to the lyrics and music, and you have the critical thinking ability to interpret them to a deeper level, something these "HipHop heads" completely fail. They are liking the music to join a trend, it is VERY apparent you are not jumping on a train, but appreciating the actual beauty that is there. The reason so many youtubers are jumping on the Tool react train is because the fan base wants other people to enjoy the real beauty in the songs, nobody wants people to like the band because it's a lot of views. You are an example of someone who we want to be reacting to, if you stopped it would be really really negative for those who are likeminded to me.
Perfectly said & to add to that I just think you should do you, regardless. Tool or any song you choose to listen & record the reaction from that particular or any orher band I enjoy. I recommend Mars Volta (for a change) or King Crimson (if you haven't heard them yet). Other Tool songs to see you react to would be Prison Song or 4° from the Undertow album. Cheers!
I get why maybe you wouldn't want to do more Tool reactions, but I think they are your best. I see a difference in your feelings that only Tool can bring out. The amazement, the joy, the look on your face that you have just been blown away... again. You're so genuine. Please don't let other people dictate what to listen and react to. Just enjoy and be mesmorized by some of the greatest musicians ever!
Watching people reacting to the songs that I love the most is the closest I can get to enjoying these songs for the very first time all over again. Vicarious (reference intended ; ) virginal enjoyment of such great tracks like Parabol/Parabola. Great reaction, keep up the good work and don't worry about what everyone else is doing. ; )
The reason so many people are doing tool reactions it's because tool fans are reliving our experience the first time we got it. It is truly amazing to see peoples reaction to something I have known since the 90s
I really love your Tool reactions because you are very knowledgeable about music, unlike most other reaction channels. I know you will notice and appreciate all the details. That makes it 100x more enjoyable than watching some bandwagoner doing it for the views. I just really hope you listen to Third Eye before ending the Tool reactions. There is no song like it!
The reason Tool is so engaging and cerebral and thus popular is that they are able to blend emotion and spirituality with a touch of humor in a way that leaves the interpretation open-ended and requires the listener to form their own concepts of where the music takes them. It's a brilliant formula and these four guys have been one of the few groups to really master it.
I just subscribed to your channel. I'm sorry I didn't do that earlier but I did it now because I don't want you to quit reacting to Tool. Like other people already said your reactions are better than those of other reactors. I always have a smile on my face when I see a new Tool video of yours in my recommendations. Please don't stop reacting to Tool. We are "only" a bit more than 2000 people but I'm sure none of us want to miss your great Tool videos.
Hey you’re good man. It’s good to get different styles of reaction. You seem a lot more insightful, and better understanding than most of the people reacting to Tool.
This song means so much to me. Involves the death of my best friends. 10,000 Days. I recommend that you discover the reason for this title. Myself, I had quit listening to this, or any Tool for a year. Would cry too much...the memories are less painful anymore. Peace
Don't worry about being another Tool reactor, personally I do listen to almost all of the channels that react to Tool. BUT you absolutely provide a unique perspective on their music in comparison, so please continue the great videos. Cheers!
Another great one. Glad to see folks enjoying the subtler things, like the organic sounds. Every song feels like a gift, doesn't it? (Your post-song smile suggests it does!) If you haven't looked into yet, the artist who's provided the paintings for Tool's last 3 albums (and therefore their stage artwork) is Alex Grey. Incredibly talented visionary artist. If you dig the style, check him out! The piece used for this video's background is massive, every little square contains a galaxy/universe unto itself. Gives the look/feel of constant movement and co-creation, like the collective universes of karma.
Please don't stop !!! Whenever you are on UA-cam, people are genuinely happy and interested in (your reaction) to tool... I don't really know because I'm not in the same position as you, but all I can say is block out all those haters and assholes because I enjoy your content , and I know that there must be other that feel the same. Thanks again for your videos.
I'll also second what other people are saying: You get views because you're genuine. No matter what you're reacting to when I see it in my feed I tune in. It's usually the highlight of my day to be honest. It's nice to see someone react to music that genuinely loves music and is enjoying what they do.
Thanks for the great reaction Jim! I hope you continue to explore their catalogue. It is fun to watch a true music lover discover and appreciate the depth of Tool.
Dude , dont worry about what other people are doing , do what you love and what inspires you , most reaction channels just set there and listen to the song but does not give any feedback , you actually give us a reaction/review, please dont stop because of what other people are doing
Jim, the hype train for Tool's new record is bringing out a lot of newbies. You do a great job with your interpretations. Remember that you were the first to jump into Tool. Please continue your video's.
This analysis won you a subscriber, sir. Finally, someone who gets the general meaning of these lyrics and the finer points too (definition of parabola and parable aka parabol).
You are literally my favorite Tool reactor. Its because I feel like you have a complete awareness of everything thats happening in a Tool song, which is amazing to watch. I think you should just keep spacing them out the way you have been. Its rare to watch someone catch all of the small details, and you have honestly opened my eyes to things in some of these reactions that I was not aware of, and ive been listening to Tool for a lonnnng time. Keep them coming man, youre awesome.
Don't stop doing tool Jim. I will always watch your tool videos. I don't watch any other reaction channels so don't worry about what other people are doing. You enjoy it, we enjoy it. 👍
Jim, I've watched a majority of your Tool reactions, and I love them. I know others have mentioned it, but I really appreciate it how you wait until the end to give your comments. I would certainly be interested in seeing you react to some of their stuff from earlier albums like Opiate and Undertow. Very different sound and style. Keep up the great work!
Love your channel, man. I'm 68, have seen TOOL 6 times and these 2 songs are among my favorites. A highlight of mine is from the last time I saw them live in Denver CO 2006 when Adam Jones played that note sequence at the end of Parabola for what seemed like 5 or 6 minutes. People were freaking out and it was glorious.
Love these don't stop. Tool reactions brings me back to concerts and teen years when i first heard tool and it brings me so much joy seeing others appreciate it for the first time. Plus your reaction are very well thought out so please keep reacting
As a lifelong Tool fan for 20+ years, I've never heard anyone put forward the idea of Parabol/Parabola following a structure representing a parabola.... great idea Jim and very Tool-esque!
I found your channel because of a Tool reaction, but I stayed because of everything else - you got me into Ozric Tentacles which I am very thankful for!
Of course you are going to listen to more Tool, Jim. We should all recognize that what is happening now is really special. This is a band that have not released anything in 12 years, and are having an enormous resurgence in interest. I have been a fan since the 90's and it is amazing and heartwarming to experience this. They were completely unique back then and more people seem to really "get it" this time around. This is as you say, spiritual healing music. Not in a cheesy way, but a real existentialist one that hits people in both the head and the heart. All this interest will probably result in Tool going to #1 all over the world once again when the new album drops and open up progressive psychedelic rock to new generations. Maybe even "correcting" the musical landscape a bit, just to be a conplete music snob arse. Love your reactions man, you really have your own corner of the reaction market and resonate with adult musicians like myself. :)
I loved that video of the guy who teaches the Jambi pull-through technique personally...it actually was the video that started to make me appreciate Adam Jones' incredibly creative guitar playing as I would never have guessed what he was doing for that riff in a million years.
Daaammmnnn you made my day with this. So awesome to watch you hearing this and see it land in your soul ... I've heard it so many times and I still have that experience every fucking time I hear this. You're genuinely moved and I thank you for posting this...
Such an excellent reaction Jimmy, I'm always so excited to see your content. I hope you don't stop doing Tool videos just because other people are doing them. You are enjoying the band so you should do what you want to do for yourself, and for your followers who enjoy the videos. Also, no other youtuber is able to give the feedback that you're able to extract from these songs, no one else seems to get it like you do and it's so refreshing to hear what you have to say. Keep up the great work my man :)
It is true there are many reactors doing it just to get subscribers instead of because they truly enjoy the band. Please keep doing them because you know your music and your discussion and reactions are genuine and profound.
You always seem to give a great analysis that I can understand and most of the time agree with 100%. You're complexity is what I love the most. Most people just say things like, "Bro, that was dope!" or "I'm so hype" HAHA. Please keep listening to TOOL. There's SO much more to indulge in. As you know, it's not just music. It's an experience.
Reacting to Tool tends to get the views up so I think that's why there's so many of them out there at the moment. Jim I don't think you'll be lumped in with the Hip Hop Heads!
Jim don’t worry about what everyone else is doing. We watch you because we enjoy your unique perspective. As long as your reactions remain genuine you’ll be separated from the pack.
"Metaphysical" is perhaps the word you were seeking? It's how I describe Tool to people who reach themselves to describe what they've heard and, typically, they smile and simply say, "Yes".
It's because you reacted to a video on tool, that a lot of us came to subscribe to you from, and the UA-cam algorithm works in both directions. Because so much of your traffic came via tool reactions, you are seeing it through your feed. I subscribe to many tool reactors, and always have to look, never get it recommended.
As true as it is that Tool reactions are spreading like wildfire and is often done by unlikely people (i would have thought), don’t worry too much about that. Do these videos for yourself and your genuinity (?) will stand the test of time compared to those who join the bandwagon for the sake of it. I really enjoy your take on the songs (and other bands. Thanks for introducing Riverside to me!)
hey I wouldn't want you to stop making Tool reactions, and I'm glad you didn't yet. Your reactions and insight is very welcoming compared to a lot of other people making reaction videos. Englis h is not my main but you get the point :)
I won't lie.. I watch pretty much only your tool videos.... but you're the only person I've been watching tool videos. top quality. love it. don't know what else to say. you're very genuine.
Jim, without you I would have never heard of other bands you reviewed, like Rishloo, Pineapple Thief, Devin Townsend and Porcupine Tree, by the way I found your channel when you were reviewing a Tool song, keep it going and enlighten my ears with new music, Thanks 😀.
Nice job.. I did laugh at "mallard" though. Will Maynard be reincarnated as a duck? Also the kookaburras at home broke in for a cameo at 10:00 and it worked in well, glad I've trained the wildlife to appreciate tool... Cheers mate
I went to a concert in Camden NJ in 2001. At the end of the concert the audience was asked to take all the positive feelings, energy and emotions of this experience, and use it to do something positive. To use it to grow and learn.
I think the reason why tool is becoming so popular in the reaction videos area, is because the band has quite a unique sound, but more importantly the band has sort of a Cult Following, and the fans ( like me ) really like seeing other people discover tool, and actively search for people reacting to tool and watch a lot of those videos :D
I think, probably, by the time you are a quarter of the way through Tool's discography, most other reactors will have exhausted their own interest in Tool's most well known tracks. Immediately after having seen your reaction to The Grudge, I suspected you would deeply appreciate the entire discography. Having watched a number of reactions by other UA-camrs, I can scantily say anything of the sort about them.
Hey Jim, keep up the great videos! Just understand there is a big hype surrounding Tool right now due to the new album about to drop that we've been waiting 12-13 years for, that's probably why the reaction vids are flooding in. Dont get discouraged because unlike most other reactors, you are doing Tool a justice by actually giving us your thoughts and analysis on the songs.
I can understand why you feel like everyone and their dog is reacting to Tool...but that's simply because it's true...but there is a reason for it. Tool sets many precedents and benchmarks. Agreed
You really seem to get exactly what Mallard has to say.
opino lo mismo, saludos desde arg!
Because others have no reaction at all. They are just listening and make funny fake faces etc. for views. Jim really reacted like real person.
All reactions to Tool are equal. Don’t compare prerequisites. Enjoy the rabbit hole they never recover from, yet makes them whole anew?

So Parabol/Parabola is part of a bigger whole that is the album... incredible. Tool feels like the musical version of Inception sometimes.

I loved your reaction to Fear Inoculum, so I had to see your reaction to my favorite Tool song!
I see your passion and it's fantastic to see your reactions!
You seem to really get into the music genuinely, you're rocking out with us not just sitting there and blankly watching the video, please dont stop.doing tool
Jim, there is no reason to stop.
Next - Tool - Eon Blue Apocalypse/The Patient, another (underrated) masterpiece.
I like the fact you let every tool song play through. I love that you did the whole fear and oculum album good job
👏👏👏👏👏 I say again.. 👏👏👏👏👏 .. Tool deserve reviews by music fans with above average intelligence, and now they have one 😁🙏
I’m impressed with your interpretation of Maynard’s lyrics. Probably the most intelligent description I’ve heard. And now that you mention it I’m completely bummed that they didn’t do a parabola with the musical structure. What a great idea you had.
Not a parody. They’re just an amazing rock band. I’ve never been bored with them from their EP Opiate onward.
Stick with the way you do the tool vids, every few weeks is good. I enjoy your reactions to them more than the others. You are the one that got me hooked on tool reactions. I value your opinion. Youre now part of the TOOL ARMY, theres no getting out of it 😈
Actually U have to pay to join Tool Army lol
Jim, the fact is that I come to this channel to hear your honest reaction/opinion. And the reason I gravitate to your channel is because I respect your open mindedness, honesty, humour, and keen musical knowledge. Jim + Tool is too good of a combo. Just keep doing what you do at your own pace brother✌️
I started watching Tool reactions because I haven't been able to experience a Tool song for the first time since 2006, so watching other people do it is almost just as fun.
Tool impacts my soul
Well my gosh, you took the words out of my mouth
Perfectly said & to add to that
I just think you should do you, regardless.
The parabola structure that you describe they could have done was done already in the song Mantra as an intro to Schism on the same album
Please don’t stop! You stand out from the others! Down to earth, kind, genuine and honest. My kind of channel! Please don’t stop
Your reactions aren't meaningless.... some people's are, but I get genuinely excited for yours. Please don't stop. Can't wait to watch this vid.
Cheers!
I love his reactions he actually listens and doesn’t pause every other second!!!!
Finally someone doing reaction with decent headphones and actually understand music. My fav tool experience.
You should not stop. Watching you discover Tool tracks brings back my experiences from decades ago. We can tell the difference...
Oh Helllll yes. Ive been waiting for this :) Next on Tool-List: right in Two !
I love how you broke down the Parabola and the Parabol (parable). Beautifully said.
Another great Tool song to react to would be H. from the Aenima album. But looking forward to whatever Tool song you react to next!
You're not the same as all the other Tool reactors. I look forward to your buddies more than just about anybody else.
Omg your take about the title Parabola is so great, I never thought about that
Such an excellent reaction Jimmy, I'm always so excited to see your content.
We love your gentle reaction to Tool songs that's why we watch you Jim you're actually put intellect into your expression of the music !
You are authentic. That's what matters. Keep going ;)
Keep doing Tool. You reaction/analysis is some of the best.
Reacting to Tool tends to get the views up so I think that's why there's so many of them out there at the moment. Jim I don't think you'll be lumped in with the Hip Hop Heads!
Let the journey inward continue
You can’t give up on Tool! So many amazing songs left to see you react to. Schism, The Patient, Right in Two just to name a few.
I'm glad you did this one jim as it's my favourite song/songs by tool. I love every note from the beginning to the pitch harmonics at the end
They actually do have a video for this song. It is one of their coolest music videos in my opinion.
Please don’t stop reacting to TOOL. You have a much better understanding and appreciation for their music than those other channels
Jim first great reaction as always! Second I look forward to your Tool reaction please do not stop!!
I won't lie.. I watch pretty much only your tool videos.... but you're the only person I've been watching tool videos. top quality. love it. don't know what else to say. you're very genuine.
I can't tell you quite how much I hate fucking zombies reacting to tool. I want the real deal man. that's what you've been doing.
Jim, without you I would have never heard of other bands you reviewed, like Rishloo, Pineapple Thief, Devin Townsend and Porcupine Tree, by the way I found your channel when you were reviewing a Tool song, keep it going and enlighten my ears with new music, Thanks 😀.
never knew tool was so liked out there, absolutely amazing band been one of my favorite bands since the 90s
Crazy popular band on UA-cam, and rightly so, incredible music.
From the future I say keep it up. Hopefully we won’t wait 1000+ days for the next album. Nice job man.
Having watched a number of reactions by other UA-camrs, I can scantily say anything of the sort about them.
i just glad to see your sarcastic and light smile when you listen it. i feel the same when i listen it with someone who do not know Tool.
This is my favorite tool song of all time
Hey Jim, keep up the great videos!
