      Surely that would work as well with spray paint, use the base colour and then your accent or contrast colour on top.

    Just wondering if you have any tips of how to clean a reusable stencil?

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  3 роки тому +1

      carly mateos clean the paint off? I just scrub them when I’m done. I lay them flat in the sink and scrub away. The one in the video was not reusable

      @@JunkinwithStacy awesome!! I have a question about the above video, I just have the reusable stencils( not adhesive) and am still having bleeding even when using mod podge, would you suggest an adhesive for sticking the stencil to the wood?

  • @debraq8887

    Should one always use an exacto before applying the top coat (actual color of the stenciling), or only if using a clear coat?

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  3 роки тому

      I used the exact o to cut around before removing the stencil. After all the painting is over but before you put the final clear topcoat over the whole piece.

    Do you feel the chalk paint is a good long term paint for painting stencils on vinyl floor if I seal it? What is the purpose of chalk paint vs latex paint with flat finish?

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  3 роки тому

      I think chalk paint and latex paint are the same. Either way you would have to prep the surface really well. You’d want to use a high adhesive primer and sand the surface to ensure the paint bites in. Neither would be what I would consider a long term solution for flooring. It can be done but with any high traffic area it will eventually wear. I would seal both paints.

    I really appreciate you and your talent. I would like to see you use wood stencils from dollar tree( wood signs- right now they have Halloween) I would like to spray paint a shirt and other things for Halloween. I hope you decide to take this challenge

    Hi, what kind of paint are you using? I’m having an issue even when I paint the background color first. Not with bleeding, but with the paint peeling up pretty badly. Always the top coat that does it.

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  3 роки тому +1

      Al N the base was latex paint. And it was cured so you have to wait until the piece has been tried about 2 weeks.

    Does this work with mylar stencils that are attached to the wall with repositionable glue?

  • @carlymateos9790
    @carlymateos9790 3 роки тому

    Do you wait for base coat to dry before sponging the black on?

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  3 роки тому

      carly mateos yes you wait for it to dry. That’s why using the exacto blade to cut around the edges is so important. Don’t skip that step

    What if you are stenciling clear acrylic? I have a makeup brush organizer I am wanting to stencil :)

    • @JunkinwithStacy

      Another viewer used mod lodge with good results. You would have to use some type of clear coat. Just make sure it dries completely and you use you exacto knife to cut around the stencil. Good luck!

    • @JunkinwithStacy

      🤣 it is certainly not brain surgery! The key is to make sure that stencil doesn’t move though. I would use the stencil adhesive for sure.

    What about stenciling on fabric? How do you prevent bleed?

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  2 роки тому

      🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t stencil on fabric. I would think with how the fabric wicks moisture it would be next to impossible.

  • @marina3083

    What do you spray on the back of the stencil?

    • @JunkinwithStacy
      @JunkinwithStacy  4 роки тому +1

      That particular stencil is a stick on stencils that you can buy on Etsy. Just search adhesive stencil and you will find them. Otherwise there is a reposition-able stencil adhesive available at most craft stores and of course Amazon. I put links to some resources on my blog post that accompanied this video here: www.peonylanedesigns.com/?s=Stencil+

      The self adhesive stencils don’t. Are you using the spray? You would have to wait for the paint to dry and then use goo gone. I would put it on a qtip to you don’t get any on the paint.
