I'd prefer them to just continue remastering GC games. I also wanted GC games on NSO, but MP Remastered really changed my mind on this.

Why I still have all my game consoles hooked since I was a kid.
GC, Wii, WiiU, PS3, NES, SNES, PS4, PS5 for the newer game
Nintendo and PlayStation have a similar issue.

Having the option to outright purchase the retro games offered on the NSO service would be a very welcome addition to the next system Nintendo releases. The games offered are great, I am just tired of essentially renting these games every month/year.

I think one of the main reason's why we aren't getting Gamecube is Storage. Plenty of Gamecube games are around 1-1.5gb in size. I could imagine not all of them would be downloaded at once.
Also VGA CRT is the best way to view Gamecube. All the 6th gen consoles should of had VGA out for that crisp 480p out on computer monitors

It's been 17 years since the Wii, and the N64 has been the newst retro platform available to play on the Wii, Wii U, and now Switch. For 17 years Nintendo have been able to successfulyy resell the same selection of older games, and with the success of full priced versions of Pikmin.and Metroid, Nintendo have learned that they have no incentive to provide any kind of mass Gamecube support on switch online

Yeah, the best solution for me to play retro consoles is to just get an old CRT tv.
The amount of cables and adapters and boxes and money and headache to set them up on the living room tv is just too much.
If you own retro console, there's a good chance you own more than one. Might as well make a dedicated corner that's not crowding your living room tv.
    But it's just me.

Surprised your HDMI to VGA adapter actually worked. I tried the same setup (GCHD Mk II, Rankie adapter, and a CRT VGA monitor) with mine and it would just blank out every few seconds, even when powered. I tried two of them and both had the same issue, and even tried it with a PS3 for good measure, which also did the same problem.

With Nintendo Switch Online: It should be clear by now that Nintendo is adding systems slowly, roughly a couple every other year, and in roughly the order of existence. So therefore, it should be obvious that we may see the addition of both GameCube and TurboGrafx-16 in 2025, maybe late 2024 at the earliest. And before you say that there's too many GameCube titles getting ports, so far, all the first-party ones were also on Wii. But in the meantime, 2024 will offer quite a few GBA titles, one almost every month. I'll even go as far as to say that A Link to the Past: Four Swords could make it's grand return next year.

Great video! Just wanted to point out that Nintendo has done a few more rounds of the Smash Bros OEM GC controller since Smash 4 on the Wii-U; in fact, the image you had in your video is of one of the newer revisions released during the Switch life cycle (I recently bought one retail). Problem is they sell out insanely fast! So don't hold off on getting one if you see them available. They are slightly improved over the ones released during the Wii-U's life cycle and easier to find, but if you don't
have access to the official packaging, you can identify the differences via the logo in the middle of the controller: the Wii U edition has the Smash logo with flames, while the later revision is the more minimalistic logo associated with Ultimate. Cheers!

@@SwEtchinmusic Some may already own the consoles and games from their childhood and its simply their preference. They feel some of the experience is lost when emulating. The consoles, controllers, peripherals, games, manuals, the TV etc.
Others don't like dealing with emulation hiccups that crop up from time to time in games and would prefer they simply run as intended on original hardware. Especially if you're a professional speedrunner.
Emulating isn't wrong though it's just another preference. It's definitely the more cost effective method for most people.
