I've been watching you since this summer. I've done firewood most of my life, but I have a small stand of pines I want to log so I started watching you just to get some tips and see if I was doing things right since I'm mostly self taught. I felt better about how I've been taking down trees after watching you, at least I was on the right path. I have picked up some good tips which should help me be better at it. When I finish working on my tractor I can put What I learned to use. What I didn't plan on was how entertaining your videos would be. I got hooked and I'm watching you every day. I really like seeing you help your boy and I can see how much better he has gotten. Thank you for such good videos even for someone like myself who isn't a pro.

Generally, I have trouble getting the far side of my undercut to meet up, then have to fix it before doing the back cut :>(
I'll have to try Hogan's trick next time :>)
If anyone asks me what I'm doing, I'll tell them its a Hogan!

Hello Billy! Thanks for the vids. I'm down here in Oregon, but I do admire the country and the folks where you abide. I would've moved up there or elsewhere along the coast of BC long ago, but the wife objects and you know how that goes.
I cut timber, climbed and rigged in the Cascades and the Coast Range for many years until the market went south back in '82. I used to run those Macs that you're so fond of. I purchased the 2nd Husky CD 1100 that hit the coast back in '74. They didn't have a wrap around handle, falling dogs or sights, but we loved the six cubes and the fact you could take them apart with one Allen wrench, and that they kept running and you didn't have to take them to the saw shop every week like the Macs and Homelites. I'm still climbing at 80 years and taking down problem trees on my own properties. I love being in a tree. Question: On this heart rot clearing job, did the whole lot of wood go to firewood? Thanks again for the vid...

When I was a kid, a lot of men went out of their way to show me how to do things. I learned as I went and kept adding to my knowledge of how to do MORE things. I am now approaching 74 and just realized that I have a cadre of young men who want to learn how to do the things that I have known so long that I forgot that I knew them. I wish only to pass along the teachings from my past to the ones who wish to learn while I am still here and able. Thank you Billy Ray.

Buckn, I’m from Hawai’i, had a landscaping business for many years, and I’ve dropped many a tree in my time though I don’t climb. But in watching your vids it’s been invaluable to me in 2 very specific ways. Firstly, I’ve learned (and continue to learn) what I’ve done wrong and the tricks to getting myself out of trouble. And secondly, it’s also given me more confidence and faith in my abilities seeing you demonstrate many of the things I’ve been doing right. I also want to thank you very kindly Sir, for helping instill in me the “Be Kind” principal. It’s changed my attitude much for the better. I think you’re about the best tree man I’ve ever seen, I can’t think of anyone better! And also being from Hawai’i a vol canid island that’s much younger than your part of the world, there are usually nothing but rocks under my saw blades, so I’ve learned on my own and respect knowing where the tip of my blades are. When you hit volcanic rock, there’s no going back, it’s sharpening time!! I value your vids immensely and I hope you’ll see this rather long comment and. Know that you have truly helped me beyond measure and continue to do so! My. Sincere thanks and respect to you Buckn’ and PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR VIDEOS? I’m always watching and learning! Thank you so much, sincerely your eternal fan...Skip Mathews From The Big Island Of Hawai’i 👍🏼🙏🏼❤️🥰💪🏼🌋 And also I’m a lifelong musician and guitarist, I love your playing and music brother!

I found your site by accident or was it. God works in mysterious ways. thank you for sharing you knowledge and you kindness with us all. P.S. I started playing a harmonica too. I have not learned a tune yet but at 77 I can learn.

OWTM - Outdoor with the Morgans told me about your channel. You are a special individual. You know how to cut down - issues and put a God center view on life challenges. You share this with your son, sharing with your love with us. A quick question, do you do a daily devotional? Thank you for being real!

Brother I swear since Hogan started working along side you your chest size has increased... Pride in your boy will do that. Hogan keep up the great work ethic and attitude it will take you where ever you want to go in life. Welcome to the new subs and be kind all, life's too short to spend it carrying a chip on your shoulder it gets heavy after a while.

Could also be since his boy is doing more work he gets to slack a bit so he’s putting the pounds on.

@@FishFind3000 I think you are totally missing what I meant here. It's in reference to a mans chest swelling with pride.
