She was truly a nice and gracious person too. It irked me greatly when people ridiculed her after her kooky interview with Letterman. She was just a bit nervous and somewhat off her game at a rather difficult period in her life, but so what? Nobody is perfect. Miss you, Farrah. You are still my favorite pin-up girl of all time.

So maybe different people talk about different things when they refer to the 70s. Farrah Fawcett started earlier, but was a fashion icon of that beautiful late 70s period.
That would explain a lot. I think plastic surgery screws up more than it fixes. People weren't meant to be stretched, they were meant to age, gracefully. Wrinkles and all!

The Cougar Commercials and later, the Noxzema commercials especially the ones with Joe Namath were the most popular and best remembered. Her Farrah Fawcett Shampoo was super popular for years - I'm surprised that they don't still make it. I think there was a Creme Rinse / Conditioner, Deep Conditioner, Hair Spray, Hot Oil Treatment and even a Permanent Wave.
Had no idea she did so many commercials. I can't watch anything about her. Seeing this fresh, happy early girl...and how things went so terribly wrong...then the struggle with cancer and early death...so sad after such a hopeful start.

Farrah Fawcett, - I remember watching Charlie's Angels back in the mid 70's. I was in high school at the time. Just about every girl at my school went and got the ' FARRAHDOO' hairstyle. To watch Farrah along side Jaclyn Smith, Kate Jackson and later Cheryl Ladd, was every young mans dreamy TV show. Farrah you are so missed.
Her hair looked just as good straight as fluffy. I loved the commercial with Penny Marshal. It was kind of mean making her the "ugly" one because she was very attractive in her day too. Rest in peace to two beautiful ladies.
At 4:46 is of course Penny Marshall. Farrah's legendary kindness was evident during the filming of this commercial. The production team labeled Farrah as "pretty girl"-complete with a visible placard on set. Marshall's said "Homely (or ugly) girl", complete with an also equally visible placard. Farrah was appalled and insisted that they change it to "Plain girl". Penny Marshall has often spoke about how self conscious she was during that shoot and how much she appreciated Fawcett's kindness.
Penny Marshall is great in this. You know what's interesting too? The lines Farrah has could have made her character unlikable, but instead her reading imbues them with an innocence that just makes her adorable. I know it's only 30 second spot, but she and Penny have great chemistry. I can totally see a 70's style sitcom starring these too. Oh well, (sigh.)
