So that is 16 paints + an aerosol can (I’m counting Retributer Armor Gold twice, as it’s likely you’ll need to touch-up) for one model. That’s so wild to think about. You did an incredible job on the paint scheme!
Simple and effective. 👍 A little extra time on the edges of the blue so the shading doesn't look like solid colour. Nuln oil is too dark, I would use Drakenhof Nightshade.
Seriously, thank you for the speed hack. I would never have thought to base it in gold. And the gold under the other colors is going to make them pop a certain way, too.
I’ve seen many people saying to apply your metallics first. My problem is I mixed leadbelcher with Night Lords Blue so that I can get that nice midnight clad when I apply Talasar blue.
They look great, but it’s some amount of work! Gold the blue seems the easier of the two options - I’d suggest washing ALL the armour first as the paint has a hard time adhering to the gold basecoat otherwise
Warhammer is a cool hobby for sure but I don’t like when things are not original ideas like these guys, they’ve clearly added some ancient Egyptian stuff and gave them a back story
I mean this is a specific model designed specifically for thousands sons. There is generic Chaos Space Marines for a more neutral look that you can make your own. It’s like complaining that Lion el Johnson looks too much like a dark angel when he is the primarch to the dark angels
Thousand sons players looking at other factions speedpainting in ten minutes: 💀
A striped yellow and blue paint would help alright! 😂
Orks: shug some green on it and if you speedpaint, some red to paint faster
Absolutely!
That's such a smart way of getting around painting trim!
Seems a bit quicker, but no real short cuts with this scheme unfortunately!

“Aaaaaaaand after 20 hours your first marine is done!”
Never finished a squad of them!

Great idea, cheers for the suggestion!

Thank you! To be fair, I took inspiration from how the warhammer UA-cam channel does it!
Very nice! Im a beginner in 40k painting and love this succinct and to-the-point video, thank you!
Happy to help!
Honestly it’s not as bad as it looks. I find it relaxing painting my rubricae
Yeah. I always had an issue with yellow and gold next to each other though...
They definitely can get lost in each other alright, the TS blue offsets it a good bit though
WHEN THERES SO MUCH TRIM YOU BASE GOLD 💀
Seems the better of the two options!
welp, im sold. making a 1k thousand sons army just because the painting process looks fun
Fun is a stretch - hope it goes well!
Now to just get around to buying models and painting supplies
There's always more paint to buy....

Great idea! Painting over metallics can be tricky also
Looks great to me, except the weird spots on the gun? Maybe it looks better at arms reach, but otherwise great tutorial.
Cheers! The recessed designs on the gun are tiny alright!
Bro you should do asmr lol legit
And for my first mini and army I picked thousands sons and Ahriman 💀
Best of luck! Hope this helps
I absolutly hated painting these xD the gold trim was so annoying to do

Once you get used to gold trim, going back to regular space marines is impossible. You are forever ruined.
When I pick up Thousand Suns I am 100% Basing Gold that is Genius
Cheers! That being said I took it from how the games workshop tutorial does it!
Looks great! Pls tell me you drilled the barrel later 😅
Sure…. 😂😂😂
@@shruggingatlasminiatures ah well, paintjob's phenomenal 😂
Im sorry but that thousand sons blue is NOT Thousand sons blue, I've used it before it it comes out beyond dark that its rediculous....
I ended up choosing the named paints for convenience, but certainly something like caldor sky or another brighter blue would look great !
Jesus. How small is that brush for the runes?
Don’t get me wrong this looks amazing but I just don’t have the attention span to paint one model with all those steps
Aye, tis a punishing scheme alright!
Great! now do this for 40+ other miniatures😂
So true! Love the scheme but definitely more suitable for kill team rather than full armies for me anyway!

And it only takes 1 hour! Impressive and fast lol joking
Not even at gunpoint
😂😂😂 - its absolutely not quick!
Less is more
Cheers!
