The tallest man ever in medical history for whom there is irrefutable evidence is Robert Wadlow, who when last measured on 27 June 1940 was found to be 2.72 m (8 ft 11.1 in) tall. He remains the tallest person in the world, ever.
Ever? No, we don't know if ever. We have no good data about the people that lived 500 to 10000 years ago, to know if anyone taller lived or not. There very well could have been someone that surpassed his height at some point but his existence would have been lost to time such as a big portion of all the history of those civilizations that lived at those times, obviously. There's many legends and myths that talk about extremely tall people, "giants". Most of these myths and legends are just exaggerated of course so there's no way to know how tall these giants trully were, but what this tells us is that, for sure, there used to be people with gigantism in the past (I mean why wouldn't there have been) and one if not many of them could easily have surpassed Wadlow.
@@DeMooniC not really as it is proven that humans on average were a lot smaller in medieval times. Also back then even the tiniest illness could mean very early death as there was practically no medicine and plagues and death everywhere. I really think Wadlow is the tallest person who has ever lived and probably will be the tallest forever as today medicine is able to prevent uncontrollable growth caused by tumors. Edit: also all the giants that live today seem to cap out at around 2,40m with Sultan Cosen being the tallest of them all at around 2,50m. So genetics also seem to play a huge roll. Wadlow still was over 20cm taller! And to the myths: i have a very tall friend who stands at 2,11m and when i stand next to him and wouldn't know his height, i could never tell if he's 25 or 35cm taller than me. Now imagine a medieval man at 1,65m standing next to a 2,30m dude. He has to look up so much, for sure most people would exaggurate and think he's like a meter taller than them. On Mills Dardens grave even stands it is said he was 2,56m tall even though it is proven he was 2,29m. So all these 3m myths probably are big cap bs.

yeah...? Tallest person in the world, ever *recorded* . Imo, I'd like to believe that there were people that would've put his size to shame when it comes to how long humanity existed for. This isn't be saying he wasn't all that tall, but people in the past that weren't even put onto a record or some type of evidence of their existence could have potentially been a lot bigger (I don't think there will ever being anyone in modern society to ever be as tall or taller than Robert, or even in the future).

According to the Guinness Book, the tallest 'true' giant was a Canadian, born in Scotland, named Angus MacAskill. Wadlow, and others of his stature, had defective pituitary glands that resulted in great height without the accompanying body mass. And most with this disorder, sadly, die very young, often in their 20s.
How did they determine how much Darden weighed? The man typically refused to get on scales. Clever friends found a way around that. They marked how close to the ground the bed of Darden’s wagon sank beneath his weight. Later they sneakily put stones into the same wagon until the bed was down to the same level. They weighed the stones. More than 1,000 pounds.

Darden was likely both full of muscle and fat. Not just "no" for fat because he could do farm work. Still.. I wish I could have seen him. Fascinating. That's the internet for you... I looked him up long ago as a kid reading the Guinness book of world records, and it seemed other kids then (the 70's) only like to read about the longest hit baseball or biggest ball of string. Which I find boring as hell. To each his/her own I suppose. I was mesmerized thinking about giant animals and people, small things that were strong, the natural world. When I was reading the short list back then of tallest, I also read the heaviest, and noticed one man (Darden), could register on both! Then when seeing how long ago he lived, I knew he wasn't likely sitting around. Those were tough times, and most people farmed. That meant he was a monster and I would give anything to see him throw stuff around.... from a distance. It seemed nobody cared about that stuff until I saw some videos that brought him up-- instantly this low-tech chump felt jealous. I knew about him long ago and nobody seemed to care LOL. Now it's on every video of giants.
I believe Mills Darden existed and was 229 cm tall, but 460 kg seems off by 100 kg or so. He can't have lived to more than his 40ties either, but what a life he probably had.
Darden actually lived to be 57 surprisingly enough, despite being that tall and that heavy. He was only officially weighed post porterm and had as such lost weight by then. if he was actually 460 kg. is unknown but the estimate probably wasn't far off. If I had a timemachine I would go back just to get a sight of that man, truly a giant in every sense of the word.
By now science should be able to manipulate the pituitary gland and create a group of giant people. With some genetic restructuring, science should be able to not only make them big, but also fast and agile. But, science will also be able to make robots that will soon be 30 feet tall, weigh 4,000 lbs and be able to run faster, jump higher and wear Keds tennis shoes...

Giant Haystacks was 6 foot 11 and weighed 650
2:50 Mr Slav hand reveal?!!?!?!?
ROBERT WADLOW, 8'11" TALLEST MAN EVER..
I'm one of those that believes Andre the giant was seven like the great Kali at least. But that's just my opinion . But this is an awesome channel . It's fun to find out about people that were way way bigger then . Andre the giant. But not just in being taller but just very big also .inn different ways .Great channel dude. 👍🏻 .
What a video. The effort mr Slav Puts into these is clsss.
Cool video Mr Slav!
Are you following the East vs West events? Maybe you will bless us with another video regarding armwrestling in the future!
Yes, there were some good and surprising matches
@@MRSLAV bro, I been watching you since 2019, you make THE best comparison videos
John Middletons story is interesting, he was called to fight the kings wrestler. Although a quiet man he went to London and the wrestler died, the Childe of Hale as he was known became a favourite of the king and stayed. his grave is in Hale cemetary a suberb of Liverpool. The lady pictured is next to the new statue, the original carved from a standing tree. but recently replaced. great place to visit.
I swear to god you are one of the best comparison channel I've ever watched, no bias.
I've watched so many comparison channels and video, and you definitely deserve a top #2 or even #1 in this category.
Farmers are just built different
4:36 the rocc 🤨

6:54 "Most of us know this guy as the tallest official Human"
As opposed to what, exactly? Are their UNofficial Humans out there?
yup, there were various claims
@@MRSLAV You could also consider the extinct hominid species to be "unofficial humans", depending on who you ask.
I mean, we know Neanderthals, Cro-Magnon man, Homo Erectus, Australopithecus (etc) weren't Homo Sapiens, but whether they could be considered "human" is subjective. 🤷♂️
Personally, I don't think they were human, because knowing other humanoid races lived alongside us is the closest we'll get to a real-world D&D setting. 😃
Allegedly he was able to pick up a mountain lol.
To me the best body builder of all times is Greg Valentino he trained natural for 20 years before he considered using steroids.
Such a great video dude, i can see the desication you put into this
Thanks for including Cleve Dean!
Large people works mostly in a farm and doesn't lift weights but lifts animals heavier than a block of iron
Angus was a real superhuman
Great video as always. Keep it up!
i like how he use Kevin Heart as a comparison

I really expected so many more Gragas comment xD
Andre the Gigant could have been the greatest arm wrestler of all time
Nope
Thrax lowkey is the textbook definition of that one final boss sitting on the throne
My great grandfather was 7'4". I never realized how tall that was until now
What's your height?
5'4"
Holy cow, City worker! That is some height there! My great grandpa had acromegaly. He died in his early 50's
@@justadreamerforgood69 I'm only 5'4"
@@deborahruthbarlow1695
7'4" is bigger than a door lol
My door🚪 is like 7'2" 🤣🙄. I'm 6'4" and I'd be dwarfed although I'm tall
Wtf do these people even eat ?
Edit:Oh he had acromegaly
You should checkout the largest man to ever play football in the US. He played highschool in Texas, now hes in college playing somewhere in Kansas. Hes 7'1 and weighs 440 lbs
This is what UA-cam should be all about! That was fantastic....and educational.
What a great vid mate. Music and everything. Cheers.
You are just amazing about making these videos. Greetings from Romania. 🤝🇷🇴
Finally! I've been trying to find this video again! The strongman video led me here.
The most important thing I learned from this, stay away from tinder girls.
Waldow 8.11ft, girls probably still saying they want someone taller.
10:45 when you are a high school freshman passing a group of seniors in the hallway
“Still not tall enough for Tinder girls” 😂
You're Videos Are Really Amazing 🤩
I believe Mills Darden existed and was 229 cm tall, but 460 kg seems off by 100 kg or so.
He can't have lived to more than his 40ties either, but what a life he probably had.
i red somewhere he was closer to 800 pounds
Darden actually lived to be 57 surprisingly enough, despite being that tall and that heavy. He was only officially weighed post porterm and had as such lost weight by then. if he was actually 460 kg. is unknown but the estimate probably wasn't far off. If I had a timemachine I would go back just to get a sight of that man, truly a giant in every sense of the word.
That ending with the Tinder girls complex was really good.
Keep up the good job!
Great video MR SLAV! 😎
"Secret" handshake @ 1:45
By now science should be able to manipulate the pituitary gland and create a group of giant people. With some genetic restructuring, science should be able to not only make them big, but also fast and agile. But, science will also be able to make robots that will soon be 30 feet tall, weigh 4,000 lbs and be able to run faster, jump higher and wear Keds tennis shoes...
@@moisescastillo217 I agree, but the Military Industrial Complex wants more money so you know the drill, lobbyist rule congress and congress gives out money to them.
You forgot Goliath of Gath. He was 9'6" and extremely strong and muscular.
He's not a historical person. It's more than likely that he never existed or if he did was nowhere near that tall.
mythology does not count
Brian shaw definitely should’ve been on here
He talked about him when talking about shoulder width. But brian isnt the tallest strongman so he wasnt included. Haftor was both taller and heavier than Brian and didnt get a mention either
@@J.c410 you absolutely adore this man it’s scary, Brian weighed 210kg at his biggest and Thor 205kg, and Thor is actually 6’8 with shoes on Kanevsky measured him, Brian is most likely shorter sure but heavier not really
One time i saw a guy in the grocery store who was damn well over 7 feet. i'm 5"11 and my head doesn't even reach his shoulders. i still can't stop thinking about that massive man.
