The best and loudest live gig I ever saw back in 82 at UEA Norwich only the Who and Quo have come close. My ears are still ringing and I just can't get Nods voice out of me head. That's how loud and good they were, my all time band who I still play today. How they are overlooked and underplayed is beyond ignorance as they were the biggest UK selling band of the 70s by record sales alone and acknowledged by so many big bands as there biggest influence it's rock n roll discrimination.
Wasn't planning to watch youtube today but saw Slade at Lochem and thought i'll just watch Gudbye T' Jane......... damn, been here an hour already and am going to cancel plans for the rest of the day. My fave band since Look Wot U Dun. The Mighty, Mighty Slade, will love em forever.
Pure rockin roll class at its best. Live n loud at its rawness with so much power and energy. That was Slade live 120 decibells and 120 percent performance. Always gave there best and that's why they were the best live. Second to none in my life time.
In Russia the group SLADE has probably the most loyal fans ! In the early 90s after the collapse of the USSR I knew a fan of the group, which was a real gangster, but quite adequate a vinyl collector, so one day he managed to buy a rare EP , but saw someone had to do it before ! First, he suggested that this person 500$ great then money, then another 100$, when he heard a refusal , it is said to this man that it would be better if he will sell vinyl, because in case of failure it is not responsible for themselves and can kill.....Here were such fans of the group, and in the USSR is not something that the band was not in the best years in the 70's , but the official release was not only brought from abroad vinyls and record them on cassette!!!
Why in the name of all things rock are this band so overlooked? I cannot understand whay this kinda live footage has never been made available to the masses. I have only recently come on line and to discover such amazing footage I have never seen before Is at once fantastic but Its very sad that as a fanatic of this band since 1972 I had never seen it before. Watching this took me back to the fields of Reading when it was a true rock festival. Wot would they have dun to todays bill? HEH. HEH.
To "DanielDumile" I guess your last name says it all........SLADE is one of the top 10 rock bands in the HISTORY of rock!!! Noddy Holder started the gritty, bombastic rock vocal so many today take for granted. Long live Slade!!
"Ahäm", ... to BE honest: Fugg the stones, Fukk the zeps, bull over the beatles, ... to hell with heep, purple and bowie! Of course, partly(!) funny-ing, ... ... but if it comes to the live-ESSENCE, ... well, i guess YOU KNOW IT BEST! ! ! ! !
It's a custom bass built by the late john Birch, who also built guitars for Brian May, Roy Orbison, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler. Dave Hill and the Glitter Band.
Proper Rock and Roll band , did their apprenticeships , hard graft , and what a fantastic set! Dont make em like that anymore , (thanks to Mr B***** Cowell and the rest of the music business).
Really? I heard it was about Terry Reid - another breath taking brilliant indie singer/guitarist from UK. Check out "Rich kid Blues" or "Mayfly" and get totally blown away!!! Terry Reid was stuck in contract deals he couldn't get out of, so he recomended Page to get in touch with Robert Plant and the drummer of the same band, that appeared to be John Bonham - The Great! Rest is high octane hard rock history! Cheers!
@jackHNv I would say looking at the body shape and the indent in the headstock it's a Gibson sg bass. I could be wrong but it's the best I can do from the images. Hope this helps.
I thought the same thing when I heard Reading version for the first time but they sang that song since about 66' so you got to let it go they didn't write it but they owned it! Fact is nobody owned more covers than Slade
Slade are the most underrated rock band ever and noddy holder has the best rock voice ever
They had such fun! Didn't they?
Noddy Holder, best voice in Rock and Roll ever !!
The best front man in a rock band Noddy...

Sir Noddy of Wolverhampton has a certain ring about it !!

Can you see any of today's bands putting up a performance like this, they wouldn't last 5 minutes , raw energy brilliant .
Jim Leas bass man, outstanding 👍

Jimmy Lea. Bass genius!
Also a terrific song writer.
One of my greatest influences in bass playing!
Pure rockin roll class at its best. Live n loud at its rawness with so much power and energy. That was Slade live 120 decibells and 120 percent performance. Always gave there best and that's why they were the best live. Second to none in my life time.

I remember when this was broadcasted ; today it is as impressive as it was then!
Just one more gig.....with the original line-up PLEASE !!!!
The Glasgow Hydro holds 13,000. They could do two nights there easy but it will never happen sadly

Emiliano Ortega-Guerrero AWESOME

I love this band.
Jim Lea is a beast
Dave Hill was always going crazy but Noddy always let you know who was in control
Fantastic 🤘👌
Why is there so many people on the stage other than the band? I Understand a few tech and camera guys, but it looks like a crowd just looking on
It's just rock and roll, nothing more, there are no intellectual , political or other pretensiones, only rock and roll ¡¡¡ and I like it!!!!
To "DanielDumile" I guess your last name says it all........SLADE is one of the top 10 rock bands in the HISTORY of rock!!! Noddy Holder started the gritty, bombastic rock vocal so many today take for granted. Long live Slade!!
C'mon. Great band, but top 10 in all of rock history? No way.
England finest!
3.55 Slades manager the late Chas Chandler watching from the wings.
"Ahäm", ... to BE honest: Fugg the stones, Fukk the zeps, bull over the beatles, ... to hell with heep, purple and bowie! Of course, partly(!) funny-ing, ... ... but if it comes to the live-ESSENCE, ... well, i guess YOU KNOW IT BEST! ! ! ! !
Sweet Jimmy :D Don't kick your bass xD GREAT GIG!!!
no lip synch with this band. straightest damn rock this side of timbuktoo
Before Steve Harris did it Jim Lea did it man that guy could rip a bass
Slade.........pure Rock and Roll fun!
Una Banda extraordinaria, en las fiestas poner sus canciones era para volverse locos y saltar hasta el techo.
This is great but how many know who did the original ? Little Richard - equally brilliant !
look it up on you tube. Not saying it's better but Richard is better...in my opinion
Original was by Bobby Marchan in I think 1965.
who'd have thought....Noddy is a Baptist Minister from West Bromwich.....
I absolutely agree with gunsanddrugs. Jim's latest live album is still great.
Jim released a great single many years ago "Didn't you used to be used to be you " Clever song with a memorable title !
It's a custom bass built by the late john Birch, who also built guitars for Brian May, Roy Orbison, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler. Dave Hill and the Glitter Band.
Awwww this is fucking good !!!!!!!!!
NOT Reading. this is Locheim!
Sure that was Tony Blackburn in the wings!
Noddy would have made an awesome preacher
absolutely,top dogs,,period,
So cool!
Wonderfull!!!!
Proper Rock and Roll band , did their apprenticeships , hard graft , and what a fantastic set! Dont make em like that anymore , (thanks to Mr B***** Cowell and the rest of the music business).
Noddy should have been a regimental sergeant major lol 😂😂😂
What year is this? Is it the legendary Reading appearance. It's f***ing shit hot
1981
How high is that fucking stage? Are they 20 feet off the ground?
Paul Caporino too high!
clap your hands, stomp your feet again!!!

Actually that was Joe cocker too early to be Noody
КРАСИ-🅱️🅾️👍😍👌❗
En las iglesias cristianas deberían tocar ésta rolota.
@jackHNv I would say looking at the body shape and the indent in the headstock it's a Gibson sg bass.
I could be wrong but it's the best I can do from the images. Hope this helps.
ROCK
@petethehawk SO TRUE,,THE MASTERS INDEED,,,LEGENDS
It is Jazz!!!
Noddy didn't need a microphone to sing and yell through ..!!
@petethehawk Because they are not so commercial ! A surprising but difficult sound - and especially a band concert .
@petethehawk absolutely,,
Bobby Marchan, I think.
What's all that shit over the stage? I see a rocketship, a chicken's head? ?????
Typical Dutch VARA tv i can tell 'cause i'm dutch
Or suzi quatro you keep on knocking
Makes Status Quo sound like a band playing for pensioners.
Slade is good, but not quite so!
the lead singer use a gibson sg that better ind that akustick guitar
Im a rocker im a roller im right right right controller wheeling dealing wicked woman stealer im a cruiser rock and roller man
Kieran Hyre that's acdc moron!
poor sound quality recording Slade sounds much better listen to their Reading 1980 version!
sounds like led zeppelin rock and roll
Kieran Hyre Slade where far better then the boring Zeppelin!
tells you all you need to know about Zeppelin really doesnt it? a great original power
folk band but major plagarisers when it came to blues or RnR
Far too fast and Nod's ad lib at the end was embarrassing.
I thought the same thing when I heard Reading version for the first time but they sang that song since about 66' so you got to let it go they didn't write it but they owned it! Fact is nobody owned more covers than Slade
And one more bass guitar survives another gig.....
O.K.
