I call this phenomenon “Strumpidity,” and I believe it is largely a consequence of the intellectual deficits caused by post-COVID disease. The anti-science and anti-vax community was overly exposed, with some saving their lives thanks to Dr. Fauci’s invention of monoclonal antibodies. If only they knew how these antibodies are sourced-they wouldn’t come within a mile of them even if their lives depended on it, as it happened.

It's because they have been brainwashed. Please don't hate on them so much. They just don't know any better. They have been lied to for years, duped and manipulated by the right wing media and politicians. They are victims in this game. Most of them have been conned out of a lot of money. It truly is sad. I don't know how we can help them, but trying to be kind and showing them that there is room for them on the other side can't hurt.
The ones I know are pro-violence and have lots of problems. If you try to show them facts, they dig their heels in further. They worship Trump. I have heard from one, "Trump is my hero!" I have distanced myself from all of them. Scary sickos.
The reason was that "years ago" we all existed in the same, shared reality. Several thousands of unsubstantiated lies later, and we can barely look at each other and see a human person anymore. (Which, seemingly, is the exact way that religions work to isolate you from other ideas about reality...)
