Glad to share the knowledge. Thanks for watching!
The build is looking solid
Thanks!
Roy
Good build clinic James. Thanks for taking the time.
Thanks for watching!
8:30 where you have a sureness that the cable is guided into the right place? I have a problem with this. Any manual on web please?
My new bike came with Deore and it's been working great so far !
Good to hear!
Extremely well explained, I only wish you could have zoomed in or highli to some of those tension bolts as I'm quite new to this! :)
Great build, I think everyone is waiting to see you riding the trifox
Me too. One day lol
If you happen to live where one pays for medical procedures, your doctor also looks forward to you riding it😈
I had shifting problems with the slx groupset on my Polygon T8. The cable kept working its way forward till the loop at the derailleur was getting pulled too hard which resulted in poor shifting. As it turned out, the cable needed a drop of oil at the head stem end grommet so the outer could slide back and forth.
I think there is a correct b-tension indicator line on the wheel side of the Derailleur cage, maybe that would help with a bit quicker b-tension setup?
In retrospect you are correct.
I have used this groupset on my polygon siskiu d5 bike ... steady and comfortable to use in all terrains
Nice build. i've seen in other videos when they measured the chain in full susp bikes, they used to remove the shock to get the max lenght for the chain to avoid the pedal kick back
Depends on the drivetrain and suspension design. This is a modified single pivot so it won't suffer a huge amount of chain growth. Shimano also specs this chain sizing for a full suspension setup. A bunch of ways to go after the same thing
Good video. I've replaced a few cables and watched a lot of them. But I've never seen anybody file the end for the reason you mentioned. All they did was open the end with a pick or awl. Very interesting.
In a shop they would pre-cut and then use a bench grinder to get installed. Flat is key to long lasting shifting performance
Thanks for this! It's exactly what I needed to install mine.
Glad I could help
isn't there markings on the small gears for proper alignment ?
Great video. I was wondering if I could use Deore M6100 with a SRAM 11/50 cassette. Many thanks.
For full suspension bike isn't necessary to remove the rear suspension or emptying it then pushing the rear wheel forward for better chain measurements?
Dude there’s a little mark on the back of the derailleur that shows you the exact correct b gap. Look at the back of the gage through the spokes and set accordingly and badda bing badda boom!
so if I have cruchy sound shifting to largest cog, I tighten B screw to increase b-gap? If I have cruchy sound shifting to smallest cog, I loosen B screw to decrease b-gap?
Hi, how has the Chinese frame held up over there years and what type of riding did you do with it also will you still recommend?, please answer
Interesting video. I think the light grease is a smart yet easily overlooked touch. Like the idea of filing the end of the cable. Great video!
Thanks for watching!
Your videos are very pleasant to watch.
I'm thiking of doing this same build, only with the frame in full black or a more blue-ey colour. Will keep checking on this project, looks very fun!
Thanks for watching, review dropping soon
I have a question sram cogs 12speeds is compatible for deore grp set?Not including the cogs of shimano because i dont like the color silver cogs i like blk cogs like sram 12speeds
Was the hubs used there also a shimano deore m6100?
thanks to this video, do you have any video like this installing slx, xt and xtr?
Just a bit of detail that is note worthy, when installing the smaller gears (at least on the 12 sp SLX and XT) make note of the spacers between the cogs, the thicker spacer goes on first; otherwise the index spacing of the shifter will not line with the cog spacing. Also the numbers stamped on the cogs face outward thins is only an issue of the sprockets that are not on the freehub. third make sure the final sprocket is fully seated in to the groves, it is possible to put the lock ring on with the sprocket slightly off kilter, the chain wont sit pretty on a crooked gear.
Good notes for anyone watching/reading.
Very informative vedio, i want to know what type of bottom bracket and crank you used
Here is my video on that very thing: ua-cam.com/video/QN-Guav836Q/v-deo.html
James Sorry How To Remove The Freehub Body, That New Tech Microspline Tool Or I Can Using HG Tool?
Did you forget that there's a "B" tension guide stamped onto the inside jockey cage to line up to the largest cog???
Must have overlooked that.
@@Jamesthebikeguy glad you at least found it. 👍
Hello. What microspline freehub body or XD drive will fit on my bontrager rythym comp hub?
Legend, Great video.
Treck Roscoe 6 could I put 36 chainrings on it
i had to look persnickety up i never heard that word before thanks for the new vocab.
Haha happy to help with your vocabulary! 😂
Hi,I have 24 rim MTB bike does it fit 11-51 casette on My bike
I got a slx m7100 1x 34t crank set and 12s slx right shifter paired with M6100 10-51t cogs, FH-MT500 microspline hub, deore RD, 12s chain.Does my set combination good?
Do they make 29" fat tire bicycles?
which bushing size you used in there ?
Is the lower chain line a little closer on the rear wheel when you are in the 51t? Coz thats the case for me
Im about to buy a deore 6100 group set. I would like to know whats the different between a deore 6100 30T and a 6100 32T?
2T... (Thats the chainring size)
Hey, James! Thank you for video. Can you give some links to online stores where I can buy it with delivery in other countries?
u can find it on amazon
I've Bergamont helix 4.1 bike with 3x8 speed. I'm planning for drive train upgrade with something like a Shimano Tiagra or something similar to that and also go for disk brakes. Can you please help with a) feasibility, b) does it warrant wheel change, c) approx cost.. I live in a town called Mysore in southern part of India.. Thanks
Hi James what size is your rim 622x25 or bigger than that That trifox is so beautiful.Thank you
Thanks it's a 27mm wide rim
Hey James, I have a new Polygon Xtrada 7. It came with the Deore 6100 10-51 drivetrain. It was shifting a little rough in the middle gears. I have lightly ridden the bike, not crashed once. I finally put the bike on the stand to really inspect. The 8th cog from the bottom was bent about a 1/4”. Is there a way to fix this or do I need a new cassette? The bike is three weeks old, crazy! 😡
Prob reach out to Polygon for a warranty
Will it fit on a Giant Talon 1 2021? I already have 10 speed shimano Deore.
I am pretty sure your freehub should accept a 12-speed cassette however I am not sure tho. Yet I have seen people doing an 11 speed to a 12-speed conversion easily with Shimano without getting a new freehub so good luck!
Hi what is your rear hub??
Hey James, does that frame come in a longer travel. I believe you said it was 100 mm travel
Depending on the shock you choose 100-120mm this will be 115mm dude to the 52.5mm stroke
Hi
When u put the fast speed, jump to much... Like the chain bouncing against something, that's normal?
try to turn your cable barrel on your derailer anti-clockwise and /on your shifter towards the seat post to tighten the cable. it worked for me on my Acera 8 speed and SRAM GX but make sure you play around with it. Good luck
Make sure the clutch is enabled. If I recall correctly, Deore RD can also adjust the clutch tension. It's also natural for the chain to bounce more on the smaller sprockets then the big ones, whenever you're descending, it's a good practice to keep your chain from the middle or slightly upwards.
Thanks James
You got it
What kind of stem you have on it. Love the color of that bike
Industry Nine A35
What the 10-51 stand for? I’m new in the bike world and I’m trying to upgrade my bike
Rear cassette teeth. Smallest cog is 10 teeth. Largest is 51 teeth.
I want to use a 11-51 Deore 11 speed cassette I have not a xt 11 speed 11-42 can I use the 12 speed derailleur with the 11-51 11 speed cassette. Thanks, nice video.
No you cannot.
James is the wizard when it comes to bike mechanics. Very informative video. Can the Shimano 12 Speed Drivetrain accommodate a rear hub having quick release boost 141 measurements? my current setup is a GT Pantera Sport.
Did you ever find out
thank you for this! everything I needed to know before I assemble my custom build from scratch. I'm using a 10 speed cassette (11T-46T) on a 8/9/10 MTB11 shimano FH-MT400-B hub. will I need spacers for this install or will the cassette fit without any spacers/shims? Not sure if the cassette comes with shims so i'll order them if needed so I'm not stuck during the install.
How many teeth of chain ring in front 1x12 ?
They make all different sizes
how many chain links if i use 36T chInring? thanks
Depends on your bike
Nice video! I have a question :
I am a newbe in ebike. My new ebike has Shimano 1x10 cassette system
with Shimano Deore SL-T6000-R Rapid Fire Plus shifter . Seller placed shifter on right side but with gear indicator
NOT FACING ME... :-(
So , I think to transfert it to left side, for FACING me ... :-). What any new shifter choice(s) on the market would I have to solve this problem?
I found NO shifter Shimano Deore equivalent to be installed on right side to change my 10 speeds.
Weird situation! May be you or somebody else could have any explication for that?
Thanks to help me.
What bike did you buy setup that way? Sounds odd that the indicator is facing away from you.
What hub r u using?
I hope someday I have this kind of drive train
You should get it!
If you have old parts and you don't use maybe you give to. Me 😂joke
Is there an option for a shifter with indicator/window?
Not that I know of
@@Jamesthebikeguy Yes it comes with both window and without window options because I had the choice when I ordered mine
Great info. James👍
Is it normal on deore 12 shifting kinda Hard?
Ive noticed since using the new deore 12s, its shifting is Hard.
No, its really soft. Maybe the your cables dont adjusted correct
What do you recommend shimano deore 12spd or sram sx?
Deore
Helpful content man. Just curious. How many links did you remove from that chain? and how many teeth does your chainring have? I'm planning to buy same exact frame as yours with that same drivetrain. Thankyou in advance
Glad to help, but no idea as far as how many links were taken off. Go through and do it for your setup

Hello good night friend, a question where I can buy the complete Shimano groups for example Shimano Ultegra Di1 normal, no disc?
Greetings.
Your local bike shop
@@Jamesthebikeguy Soy de El Salvador, me es dificil comprar aca los grupos completos. : (
Great video. I'm actually in the process of building the same bike, same components. Not to be too critical...but your using the file incorrectly. It only removes metal going away from the tang.
bro can i install 12s speed on HG hub with 11S ?
not shimano, Shimano 12 speed cassettes are microspline, not HG. I believe the SRAM 12sp cassettes are HG compatible and will work with Shimano shifters
did you put on dt swiss spline
No. Thes are industry nine wheels.
Nice watch Citizen Skyhawks.
Thanks, its a great work/beater watch
Great build, I really want to change my 3X8 drivetrain setup on my oldish Ghost Kato to a 3X12 and I think your rear setup Might do the trick. I am not sure if any 12 speed rear derailer would accept 3X drive. Anyway, Keep up the good work!
That would be cool!
Wow didn’t know the b tension did so much in the shifting. I have a problem that when I pit too much torque the chain jumps and I loose momentum. Usually is in the highest gears.
I did try everything except for B tension also I may need to replace the cable. I have like 1,700 miles in that cable maybe is time.
Cables and housing should be part of regular maintenance
@@Jamesthebikeguy Thanks, I think at this point that is exactly my problem.
you can you any hub for that?thanks
What
Cookie oh sorry..i mean can you use any kind of hub for that?thanks
What hub is on that beast
Industry Nine
What's the size of the frame?
19"
@@Jamesthebikeguy thanx man, can you review the new 2021 trek fuel ex5 next. Appreciate the reply. . . 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Wow...why not use a torque wrench rather than a "crescent" wrench?
At what part of this install is a torque wrench necessary
@@Jamesthebikeguy When installing the lock ring. A good "umph" is very subjective. I believe the torque is 40nm. Why not be accurate?
Hub mt410??
These are Industry Nine hubs
i learn something, thanks
Glad to hear it
Thanks
skyhawk?
Good Eye.
Good video 👍
Thank you

Time for a smartpants comment: That “Trifox” bike looks awfully lot like a Scott Spark...😏
Lol agreed. Geo is significantly different, but no question who they took "inspiration" from lol
㋣ Thanks 👌
He got the 80eight shirt
I own to many of them. Anytime a GTR goes up, I gotta buy a shirt lol
@@Jamesthebikeguy their the ones that give cars away right. I dont blame you
Isn't trifox a Chinese brand?
Yea
Indeed, looking to see how it compares to the bike shop brands I normally ride.
@@Jamesthebikeguy i think their all Chinese a yway
@@jimbo4203 Yes many frames are made in China but they are engineered and created where the manufacture resides . They use professional mountain bikers for input at times . This brand is engineered ( maybe copied for the most part ) and manufactured in China and is a Chinese brand . You dont hear much of Chinese mountain biking so basically they have seen another industry they can undercut the competition which they do very well . Now you are not getting the legal protections for this frame . The question really is will the frame hold up to rigorous riding and at worst case catastrophic failure on a more extreme effort on the trail which can lead to injury .
Im buying a Trifox frame
What color?
@@Jamesthebikeguy X10 Carbon Road Bike Frameset (CAMO COLOR), I just saw it in the website; Great price and few high detailed reviews like yours show this is a brand you can ride with no fears
I'm 52years young but still kicking n pedaling my bike, however my bike is only steal bike n I want to have a high-end bike.
Keep on pedaling!

I hope you choose to give me a bike because I've been dreaming of having a bike for a long time ... in case of the hardships of our lives here in the province, we can't buy a bike ... I'm one of those who always watch your vlog. ..I'm from the Philippines ... I hope you choose me
Shimano systems have supplied cable housing for years - it looks like you don't know what you are dealing with - this is not confidence building for the viewer.
