When I saw this video was 10 hours long I assumed it was an unedited VOD of a playthrough, but no, there's actually high quality editing and explanation all the way through. You're absolutely insane for making a video this long and it's really impressive
Bro its a dream come true. Sometimes i watch high quality videos like this and think to myself "ahh i wish it wouldn end" and this vid is closest banger to being neverending i saw yet.

What blows my mind is it's essentially a 10-hour long video about logistics problem solving with occasional explosive intermissions. No-one could make me sit through a 10-hour long lecture about logisitics problem solving, even if there was food, beer and occassoinal explosions. But, this was genuninely entertaining. Also, Michael. When you became a truck driver originally Denmark lost a potentially briliant engineer/coder.
These videos are the reason why i like youtube so much. 10 hours of nothing but high quality gameplay with no obnoxious edits and no annoying idiot screaming in his mic. Good job.
This is actually insane. Usually I expect a ~50m of a very high quality video, or ~10hrs or a very low-effort (quality wise) production. This video is _insanely_ long, and _very_ engaging throughout the whole thing. I actually had to put down my plans to use this as "background noise" and ended up sitting through the whole thing. I love how in depth he explains the cause and effect of things. I never thought of Efficency Modules as literally being "starve the biters, less attacks". And calculating how much Iron each tech requires, really puts things in perspective.

UA-cam stopped recommending me your channel and unfortunately i forgot about it, i just remembered and am now so happy i have a whole bunch of videos to catch up on.
It is so interesting to see all the different phases of the game. You start off with the temporary builds, where grenades are king, and attacks require manual intervention. Then a proper wall needing manual repair and still on starter resources, but grenades don't do much. Then bots and laser turrets, with proper base automation going, but the need for expansion. Then the base is in okay shape, and you have the ultimate spider armor, but big and behemoth biters arrive. Finally you arrive at artillery.
This is an amazing way to just chill on a satursay afternoon/evening/night. Not only because it's by Mike, but because it's one of the greatest Factorio series ever conceived (and IMO, THE best one.) Love it Michael, I will watch it wirh the same excitement as when the episodes were dropping for the better part of a year.
"So what is the best way to place those annoying pumpjacks? ... Well, I dunno, but this is one way to do it." you're teaching me to worry a bit less (a lot less) about certain things. I used to calculate ratios down to fractions like my life depended on saving the last few assemblers. and after all that I'd improvise a horrible bowl of pasta. ...on second thought I know what it is, I played Satisfactory first, which has constant, infinite resource nodes, so it was possible to make perfect ratios everywhere. that approach falls apart pretty quick when ore patches run dry or part of the base becomes lunch
As a person with ADHD - newly diagnosed and unmedicated this game is a nightmare, I'm so impressed by your methodology. It's been so rewarding looking at it from day one and seeing the progession, albeit you have a great deal of experience in the game going in but to me and my somewhat hampered brain the order and organization is beautiful.
I've never ever played Factorio in my life, just the demo many years ago and left it after some minutes. Still watched through and enjoyed the whole thing. One of the best videos in the entirety of youtube hands down. Impressive.
This video seems to be a masterpiece already, so I might end up editing this comment to add more over time, but... 42:57 Having a section like this where you show a full "cycle" through your base is genius. It really helps to pull all of the scattered clips together into a cohesive whole, and brings much-needed perspective to the task at hand. Love it!

Truly, and with no hyperbole, thank you for this video. A fully edited 10 hour video of a fascinating game played in the most extreme of ways, with twists and turns and plenty to learn. UA-cam content as high-effort and passion like this is very rare.
Incredible! I’m a new player and struggle with the stock settings. When I saw the initial map after you tweaked the settings I thought this is impossible dude, no way ANYONE could survive this. After watching other death world play throughs where people tweak settings to HELP them like bumping up the starting area and upping moister for more trees, as well as increasing the mineral richness so they could stay in the starting area longer; the fact that you kept all default settings except for the things that made it HARDER on yourself is crazy. I’m three hours into the video and I never would have thought it possible to get where you are now. Absolutely mind blowing.
Thanks! All those "help" type tweaks (especially more starter resources) can make 600% deathworld even easier than "unchanged normal deathworld", and my personal annoyance with such tainted claims where actually one of the driving factors to make this "pure" playthrough
Absolutely, It always felt a little off to me when people would change settings to help them in a challenge run, even just bumping up the trees or such. There is something about the fact that you did this "pure" that just makes it 100x more satisfying!@@MichaelHendriks

7:22:20 I cannot begin to tell you how much i love this whole part of the video. It was so beautifully and masterfully edited, and what i mean by that is it seemingly wasn’t. You don’t do any super fancy build-up, no music, no talking over it. You see the train pull up to the area, with only the noises of the game. Then the artillery guns extend their barrels and begin re-directing to their first targets, and begin firing. just the pure quietness of the game, uninterrupted is powerful. it felt powerful. the sound of the guns booming was so stunning in such an amazing segment of the video it was just absolutely amazing to watch the first time. i know this isn’t some high budget movie and you weren’t going for an emotional pull for this particular part of the video, but i thought it’d be nice to mention how incredibly you pulled it off if you did. better than most high budget movies. real life is a lot more powerful than music, and just the sounds of those guns is powerful.
Oh just the video I was looking for. Can't wait to tackle this over the next week or so. I love long-form videos of factorio, and so far, this one is really good! Definitely earned a sub!

So, how did this april fools joke play out for you? I am not quite sure people are getting this and are now locked into a 10 hour factorio video. Good bye weekend plans...
That nuclear plant design is incredicle. Kudos to making it optional for your viewers, but this in-depth number crunching explanation of its efficiency was so well made.
this is the first time and probably the last time i will watch something this long, but i am proud to say, that ive did watch the whole thing and not just in the background focused on something else. it took me 9 days to watch the whole thing. i have massive respect for you
i have never been THIS involved into a seemingly simple gameplay video ive been watching this for 4 hours and willing to go for more thank you for this gem, please continue making these videos
My guy, I've never even played or watched this game but you had me throughly interested throughout the entire video. Congrats man, not many creators can do that but you can :)
The amount of work this took, both in gameplay and post is incredible. thank you for your hard labor and know I appreciate this kind of intelligence on display greatly.
Man this is a masterpiece. I just bought this game and watched some tutorials and hooked to this video. You are amazing. Never saw a 10hr game video on youtube which is high quality like yours.
3 Hours and 21 minutes in, I'm hooked to your ability to tell a story. Your gameplay is great, your adlibs are funny and it's just pure entertainment for me. Well played, good sir. I hear you did it again with biter evo turned to 100%. I'll watch that when I'm done with this gem.
"Woah, did we just lose four bots at one time?" Reminds me of a playthrough where I was losing literally thousands of bots. I think the bot network started at 30k bots and got down to 5k, so yeah, I lost at least 25k bots that run. I got so annoyed with the destruction sound effect that I looked up the command to disable the sound. That was my first modded run was K2 SE. Great video btw.
8:06:30 i've seen this whole playthrough 3 times now, and this still for some reason holds up as the funniest part for me. Probably because my brain is processing "uhhh i don't think they need you mike" as soon as the text on the screen changes, and it just cracks me up
I have 1600 hours in factorio and this giy makes me look like i have ZERO idea what im doing when i play. Kudos & youve earned a sub! This is beyond amazing. I cant believe this entire 10 hour video is not only editied but, factorio?! Man... what a legend. You sir have won the entire internet.
Love this style of Factorio content, it's vanishingly rare, but every bit of it is precious, especially such an incredible challenge, played so well, and edited for us. It's also very satisfying just to have the whole challenge in (technically, two) videos and to just be able to go through it all again in one smooth, uninterrupted industrial slurry flow. The metaphor kind of ran out of control, much like the plans for "world peace" here, but hey.
7 hours watched in 1 day, an incredible multi-feature length movie of pure entertainment, I'm not even finished and I've laughed, shouted, learnt new tricks and ways to do things and that I need to at least up the difficulty by quite a bit on my next playthrough. Thanks for the fantastic content :)
Bite evolution needed to be 100% for all to be done...
Heh, too easy. Go watch my side-project where I START the game with 100% biter evolution!

This is so good, the editing effort here alone must have taken ages.
This is really awesome, deserves so many more views! Super engaging watch
you sound so Dutch :) 😁
Wow I really loved this video ! This has to be one of the most "edge of your seat" factorio vids I've seen. Totally absorbing and well narrated. Thanks for sharing!
So, how did this april fools joke play out for you? I am not quite sure people are getting this and are now locked into a 10 hour factorio video. Good bye weekend plans...
Using the meta-meta to fool people into watching a REAL "10 hours" video hehehe
wow! that first flame thrower attack sent me to the edge of my seat. that was awesome!
That nuclear plant design is incredicle. Kudos to making it optional for your viewers, but this in-depth number crunching explanation of its efficiency was so well made.
I actually learned so much from watching this I’ve play this game for probably two years and thought I knew everything but geez I was way wrong
this is the first time and probably the last time i will watch something this long, but i am proud to say, that ive did watch the whole thing and not just in the background focused on something else. it took me 9 days to watch the whole thing. i have massive respect for you
Thanks! it took me 9 months to edit!
i have never been THIS involved into a seemingly simple gameplay video
ive been watching this for 4 hours and willing to go for more
thank you for this gem, please continue making these videos
Its actually quite badass how you are defending from endless waves of biters. Had me hyped to try something similar
Thank you for making a multi-episode upload, now I don't have to traverse youtube AND I get to rewatch this whole series :)
My guy, I've never even played or watched this game but you had me throughly interested throughout the entire video. Congrats man, not many creators can do that but you can :)
Great, I had to subscribe, I just couldn’t let this insane effort go unsupported. I’m in awe.
This is my favorite Factorio video. I really like the initial urgency and then the narrative that builds towards the finale.
The amount of work this took, both in gameplay and post is incredible. thank you for your hard labor and know I appreciate this kind of intelligence on display greatly.
And i am complaining about default biters being annoying.
That's some next level tactics.
I usually scoff at sitting through 20 minutes videos. Somehow you managed to get me to sit and watch you play factorio for 10 hours while I work.
Man this is a masterpiece. I just bought this game and watched some tutorials and hooked to this video. You are amazing. Never saw a 10hr game video on youtube which is high quality like yours.
5:15:26 I think you mean a close encounter of the fourth kind. The third kind is direct visual contact; the fourth kind is physical contact.
Best gaming video ive ever seen, 24 yo yet this playthrough took me an entire day to finish , huge congrats on your work keep it up
"Woah, did we just lose four bots at one time?"
Reminds me of a playthrough where I was losing literally thousands of bots. I think the bot network started at 30k bots and got down to 5k, so yeah, I lost at least 25k bots that run. I got so annoyed with the destruction sound effect that I looked up the command to disable the sound. That was my first modded run was K2 SE.
Great video btw.
This was the single most therapeutic and satisfying video I've ever seen.
Watching a 30 part series over many days: I’ll pass
Watching a 10 hour video all the way through in one sitting: Popcorn is already popped
Bro this video was sooo good I now wanna buy this game. Never watched anything about this game before!
8:06:30 i've seen this whole playthrough 3 times now, and this still for some reason holds up as the funniest part for me. Probably because my brain is processing "uhhh i don't think they need you mike" as soon as the text on the screen changes, and it just cracks me up
I wasn’t playing, but my stress level watching this was through the roof. What a roller coaster.
Just starting out but man, never even thought of these tactics to move your base to avoid attacks. Brilliant.
Rewatching this to refrain from watching the Space Age vods ;p
Can't wait for a new full Space Age series.
Can't believe i watched the whole thing without knowing the game much, it shows how good this 10 hour movie is😁
