I’m convinced one man tried to kill me because he noticed a woman was passing him in the left lane and couldn’t emotionally handle it. I’ve only had a couple cases in my life of someone road raging at me, but neither time involved an actual mistake. It was like they just snapped for no reason. That’s what scares me
I mean, do you think any stable person reacts this way over traffic grievances? Mental health as a whole has been on a downward trend for years already and the pandemic was just enough to make already unstable people flatout dangerous.
People without provocation snap, and the reason for it is life is “grand” what I mean by that is the moment you wake up and leave the house life starts in on you so much is going on at one time minute after minute, day after day it wears people down and they lose the ability to cope, rationalize, reason, or de-escalate. Life is enormous with many deadlines, responsibilities and the list goes on. The most common place for all frustrations to come to a boil is gridlock on a afternoon thoroughfare.
What’s trending on google currently is Utah’s new road rage law which should be passed in all 50 states. Utah is the only state in the US to pass this specific road rage law where this new Utah road rage law will dissuade drivers from being aggressive on Utah's roads by increasing the fines on citations on culprits in a road rage situation, giving law enforcement the power to impound vehicles suspected of being the culprit in a road rage incident, and this new law will allow judges & prosecutors to suspend/revoke driver's licenses for repeat road rage offenders.
My mom was actually ran off her bicycle by someone last week. He swerved his car towards her then she fell. She broke her left clavicle (the bone you can feel above your heart) she's doing better now but I hope karma does her thing
There needs to be tougher punishments for aggressive drivers in road rage incidents... people need to understand consequences when they intentionally harm other people, or they'll keep saying Not guilty...
Increasing the penalties will not have an effect on not guilty pleas. You always plead not guilty at the arraignment. That gives you time to build a case. As soon as you say guilty you’re at the mercy of the judge
Punishments and more police doesn’t help. That’s always the “solution” for the US. Add more security, add more gun, add harsher punishments. Those things DONT help
@@Eddybih03 Yes, that’s true, but I don’t think it will have any impact on the proportion of individuals who plead not guilty on their arraignment hearings. You never want to plead guilty going into things because that’s throwing in the towel before you’ve even started fighting

As a semi truck driver, I see way too many cases of one car being angry at another, or at me, and the pointless 'battle' that ensues. The human need to 'teach someone a lesson' makes no sense. You may want to engage and show them who's boss, but why pursue it when you know it could get ugly like this video shows. I always play stupid, act like I'm blissfully unaware of their anger and carry on. If I don't engage, they get bored and move on. I'm always tempted to show them I'm in the bigger vehicle and could put some serious harm in their way, but I never give in. Who knows what day they've had or why they're upset. Someone may have died, they may have gotten fired, divorced, etc. It's not your fight, let them be mad and carry on your way.

About 10 years ago I was driving when a car with a couple of teenagers then started swerving around to try and block me and another driver which didn't make sense in the first place we were all going to the same direction. That impatience and the fact that their prefrontal cortexes weren't fully form made them make a terrible decision. Not going to lie I was armed but there was no way I was going to make it come to that so I just kept driving and they followed me for about half an hour before I finally went to the police station and the second I pulled into that parking lot they took off. I left a few minutes later thinking that it was fine and they were waiting a couple blocks down for me so I had to circle back around and go back and actually go inside. Sometimes you can avoid eye contact you can keep driving you can even go to a police station but these psychos will find you.

When I was taught professionally how to drive. He stressed to never look at other drivers because they might see that as a sign of aggression. This was back in 1976. I think that is one of the best pieces of advice I was given in my life. I became a driver for a living and I never looked over at other people.
My instructor was a nutjob and while I was focused on learning, he was the one who actually wanted me to look at other people in the eye and scream obscenities at them! Thankfully I was raised right and never engaged in such behaviour, now I drive safely and never ever escalate any conflict on the road, I just keep going.
I’m a truck driver and my best advice is if you encounter an aggressive driver, assume things will get ugly if you cross paths so just get out of the way and don’t become a target. I think ego is what gets most men involved.
Tmw people can never take responsibility for their own actions lol. Yes, it's always the angry person's fault, not the one who made them that way in the first place with their poor behavior/driving.
Zero fathers and zero accountability too. Never had to take responsibility for their terrible behavior or decisions. Raised by single mothers and big daddy government, entitled and sadly at the bottom. The cycle keeps repeating
My car got vandalized but a random woman, never seen her in my life. Never looked in her direction.. just did it out of pure rage. And when I tried to beat her in court, the judge favored her request.. and gave her not guilty.. criminal damage, can’t believe she got away.. it’s unbelievable. I have to pay for damages that I didn’t even do.
My girlfriend did a rotation in downtown Houston and you can *bet* I was steady keeping track of the news. It’s absolutely wild how people get on the road these days paired with the ability to carry a gun without license now. I’ve totally changed how I drive and asked my girlfriend to do the same. Best thing is to not engage. Beyond that there’s a horrific epidemic of those continuously let out on *multiple felony bonds, even murder* in Harris county. Party aside - it’s totally out of hand. To the point some judges don’t support crime stoppers because they call them out for letting obviously violent and dangerous people out on bond. That isn’t bond reform; that’s negligence and obstruction of justice.
Exactly. Many people think that if they just let something go, they “lose”, and that ends up bruising a large chunk of their ego or whatever. Too many people have this “YOU WON’T GET AWAY WITH THIS!!!!” mentality - but it’s mostly over PETTY stuff, and that’s what leads to someone needlessly getting severely hurt or killed.
I have slight road rage, I will get angry over stupid drivers. I may cuss and yell to myself about it but I have NEVER chased someone down nor thought about reaching for my gun. Taking someone's life and ruining my life over something stupid is not the way to go.

There has been an explosion in road rage in the town I live in in the past year. I had a classmate who broke his leg while riding his bike after intentionally being targeted in a hit and run. This happened twice in a year to him. If he breaks his leg again, he will likely be unable to ever walk again. I nearly got in a wreck after I was stuck behind a car going below the speed limit in the fast lane, and I was unable to change lanes because there was a person next to me as well, there were three lanes. I had a person get behind me who laid on his horn for several minutes- he could have just pulled in the right lane and passed us. When he finally did that, I slowed down and passed in the right lane. After that, the person who had been laying on the horn pulled in front of me and slowed down to 20 MPH from about 80- and I almost got into a wreck. Road rage is getting worse.
Believe it or not, guilty people have the same rights as innocent people. By pleading not guilty you guarantee your right to a fair trial and if necessary, to be judged by a jury of your peers. By pleading not guilty you allow time for the prosecution to prepare a case and your own lawyers to prepare a defense. It's literally one of the most basic rights that an American citizen has, but you think people should just throw it away?

I believe in Karma. That jackass has or will pay for that soon.
The US already has the harshest punishments and yet crime is skyrocketing.
You never want to plead guilty going into things because that’s throwing in the towel before you’ve even started fighting

it's been a year now, and we've had LOTS more road rage in all states. Small kids have died.

But not long after he approached my car window, all I could do was smile because, there happened to be a HPD Highway Motorcycle officer at the oncoming Green Light and he flipped his cherries and berries and detained the guy who became all shrunken after he noticed the cop.
I wish I had a dash cam as instant justice like that is rare
Road rage is getting out of hands every where. Chicago finally want to put cameras on our expressways because of all the shootings.
Good idea!
Chicago is a liberal town.
But I don't think cameras on expressways and other major roads would work in places like Pensacola, FL, and Birmingham, AL.
Folks there would take to the streets and protest if such traffic or "spy" cameras were installed in those cities.
Lol, you think thats for shootings? Dont be surprised when you get a ticket for not signalling youre gonna pass or a redlight. Smart of them to change it and say its about shooting. Feel safe!
Chicago is a disaster. Stop! Voting! Democrat!
My Sincere Condolences to both fathers...
My unincorporated neighborhood was full of illegal gunfire & we suffer from chronic illegal garbage burning too. For some reason the Sheriff & fire marshal think it's the job of a non-existent HOA.

I do not want to sound insensitive but it might be a good time to move elsewhere. From your remarks the likelihood of the situation improving doesn't sound probable. Removing yourself and your family from such a high risk location might be worth considering. (I was in my driveway early last week and a lady stopped and asked if I wanted to sell my home. Just a random person. Yesterday I found several notes on my front door re people wanting to purchase my home, 2 from realtors. There seems to be a shortage of homes for sale. Of course you would have to become a buyer but a safer neighborhood could be in your future.) Good luck to you!

how in the world could someone charged with murder be out on bail? this is why a lot of people shouldn't even be driving if possible!
someone throwing a axe dam

Respecting general traffic rules helps a lot. Move to the right after you pass a car if you can and don't brake and panic when someone is coming up behind you, maintain your speed as they have already calculated their speed to get in front of you.

There needs to be a federal law that says if a person is convicted of unlawfully discharging a firearm during a road rage incident then that person will never be able to have a driver's license in any state in the country for the rest of his or her life.
Or u can carry and not expect government to protect you 🤷♂️
Our broken criminal justice system doesn't help either. Imagine seeing your sons murder on the street. Disgusting.
When has that ever happened
If I was a father and that happened I would destroy his future.

Killer: **Kill someone.**
Judge: Not guilty.
@@mrfacestab5758 if that were true everyone would be killing each other already
@@PumpkinEater-gh6ok In 2013, a young woman in LA saw her sons murder on the street when she was in a grocery store. Even though the system was SUPPOSED to inform her about him, they never did. Despite the evidence supporting his actions, the judge let him out on bail (which he paid, not surprising given he was a drug dealer) she reported seeing him to the police, including him grinning at her and running a finger along his neck.
He was killed in 2015 during a drug deal gone wrong.
Also, only reason I'm not posting names is because UA-cam seems to have an issue with people doing that (yet they have no problems if you post names of certain other individuals)
Maybe people need to be nicer to each other and this wouldn't happen so often
In a day in age WHERE EVERYONE reaches for their phone to record something, they reach for a gun- REALLY..... REALLY?!? I hope EVERY driver that shoots at another (if they miss or hit the car) gets an automatic 20 year sentence!!! And if they hit someone- LIFE (injury or death)!!! This is an epidemic- the government & state law makers need to get off their butts & do their damn job by sending a message!!!
Good luck with that psycho
The fact that he killed this young man because he couldn’t control his anger and then they give him bail and released back into society is disgusting!
It’s interesting how this almost NEVER happens in Canada , I wonder if it’s due to the stricter handgun policy’s? No one but a government official can CARRY a handgun and can only do so when working.
Bro u Canadians bent over HARD during covid. You could have all the road rage in the world you guys still needed firearms because of your tyrannical government.
@@xxxytheguy1296 yup. cops hand out assault charges here in Canada like speeding tickets at the first turn of the Indy 500. It's a very very different direction. Only zu var, WW2, put an end to it. We need notanother var??? Here we go AGAiN.
It's not always aggressive drivers, it's dumb drivers and distracted drivers that cause a lot of road rage incidents...
ITS NOT CAUSE BY PANDEMIC. ITS CAUSED BY DEMOCRAT LOCKDOWNS
I get road rage but nothing to that extent… I might honk the horn or yell inside of my car but I could never pull out a gun. The audacity to plead “not guilty” when you’re on video pulling out a weapon and shooting at another car should land a person into a longer sentence.
I just yell in my car/truck. The only time I use my horn is when someone cuts me off, they gotta be really close, or someone pulls out right in front of me.
I’d say the uptick in violence isn’t just road rage it’s on airplanes, in homes, businesses, everywhere.
We need bullet proof glass on newer car models idk why they haven’t had that yet
(EDIT): Maybe it’s so criminals can’t get away so cops can open fire?
Do you know how expensive and heavy that would be? This comment gives me road rage

As a Houstonian, I can confirm just how bad the road rage is here. I can't tell if it's the pandemic or if it's just the fact Houston is a ****hole.
It's the latter.
Too much diversity
After hearing all of this, I'm too scared to even go outside. Along with having second thoughts about whether or not I should try to get my driver's license.
drive safely and always have a distance between other cars and you will be ok. Dont speed! People say it's not speed that kills, I used to work the police beat at a news station and let me tell ya, SPEED KILLS and it is not pretty at all. The Saw movies fall short at the gore.
I get the fealing for sure.
The state's need to put an end to carrying weapons without license
Second ammendment
I lived and grew up in Houston from age 6 to now I remember back in the early 2010s I could still walk to the store and get chips and a drink and NOT have to worry about getting kidnapped or killed now I tell anyone carry a gun at all times! Or move out of Houston! I left December 2021 and won’t ever live in Houston again but I’ll always love Texas!
It’s extremely scary!!
Get quad cams on ur car.
I don't have all the answers, but I can tell you this: There has never been a time with as many distracted, inconsiderate drivers. That, coupled with the number of guns in circulation these days, and you have a perfect recipe' for an epidemic of extreme violence on our roadways.
This country has had guns for hundred of years. Mental health, pussyfooting police, weak liberal judges, and BLM have contributed to all this.
My guns don't leave the house and shoot people.
The percentage of guns used in actual road rage incidents is miniscule.
It's a mental health issue, not a gun issue.
@@ronb67 I own guns too, and have had a permit to carry them for over 40 years. So it is definitely an established fact that there is no reason at all for anyone to fear them. But I'm also pretty sure that everybody with a pistol in their pocket isn't as responsible and rational as you and I.
@@ronb67 According to the NY Times article, a quarter of the fatal shooting road rage accidents happen in TX where motorists can carry firearms in their cars without a license. I don't think that is a coincidence.
@@kitchenskills5427 The NY Times? You've got to be kidding me 😂.
This conversation is over. You should be more concerned with activist judges legislating from the bench than with whether or not someone is driving with a firearm on them. If you're afraid then don't drive like a turd.
I drive armed all the time. For good reason. To be able to shoot back.
.
1 - Everyone feels "entitled".
2 - No punishment. People drive with no license and no insurance. They just get a citation. Road rage just gets a "meh" from police, unless someone dies.
What does a license and insurance have to do with road rage? Do you think they should put people in the already overcrowded and poorly run prison system over a driver's license?
