Legitimately good guide that gets straight down to it, covering pretty much all the immediately necessary points for bvr - i hope lots of people see it, nicely done. Past those basics it really is just a matter of learning the 'soft skill' type stuff such as missile dynamics & their threat ranges with trial and error, developing good ability to keep track mentally of where the enemy should be throughout the time your defending, and using that in tandem with good radar skills to pick them up asap. Then its just applying all that into the whole risk v reward game.

Ayyy this is really nice. This can actually help us understand what we are doing. Thanks :D

Just FYI, the "Air radar scale" slider does NOT affect the size of the radar display, weirdly enough. It controls the size of the awareness compass thing in the very top right corner of your screen. (It's a setting that long predates actual radar being added to the game, and they never bothered to rename it, so it tends to confuse people.)

From a SIM shark to a SIM shark: what do you use to look around and what for controlling your warbird? 👍😁

I use track IR and I have some kind of junky aluminum stick. I think it's a Gunfighter IV which means the other 3 versions were junk or something.

I don't play sim (yet) but I'm definitely gonna try out that kinda zigzag cranking manoeuvre in RB - it makes so much sense and tbh i don't know why i don't already do it

I have an off-topic question. When I set keybindings to my zoom axis in the cockpit, nothing works. I’ve tried changing it to my mouse wheel, keyboard bindings, hotas bindings, and I cannot zoom in/out at all.
Anyone have any ideas as to why?

Iirc there is a setting that binds zoom to track IR. Might try disabling that.

@@squishface80085 I was thinking something track IR related, but wasn't sure. I'll have to check it out.

      I don't think it does.
I think sim games will just become a speed run stomp of whatever team has the most players and pushing towards the enemy runways.

@@squishface80085 okay but with fox3 the fastest way to defeat them is to notch them. Especially because there is no guessing game about the energy state of the missile. Just depends how easy it is to notch in WT IMHO.
