    You're alive, it was a good landing! Well done for walking away, everyone with foresight can comment at what they would have done, the reality is they weren't there and given the same thing they would have probably had the same outcome if not worse. You controlled the landing and dropped her down with out injury (other than your pride)

    Amazing thing to watch. You kept your head in it. Glad your ok! You built the plane once, so you can build it again.

    Glad you made it down okay. Sorry to see TA-1 so beat up, but at least it's not totaled. Will be interested in what caused the engine failure. It's always a good learning tool to find the root cause which will help others.

    So glad to see you are ok. The landing gear on the A plane seems to be a weak point. You will be back up in no time.

      he had no speed to flare, his stall is 30 mph 2 over the max allowed

    Hell Terry that was bad luck. Good to see you are OK, but it's going to be a bit expensive. New prop and all that.
    I hope you are in the air again soon.

    That socks about the plane, but any landing that you can walk away from is one to be grateful for.

    How much safer would ultralights be if they allowed them to be heavier? Sad to see the aluminum buckle like that.

      I can guarantee that this plane isn't anywhere near 254 lbs. How do I know? I built one all the up to covering it. No engine, no fabric and even with mods I made to reduce weight, it still came in at 282 lbs. Sold it for the cost of the materials, and happy I did. All you need is one FAA employee to question the weight...and you're out a couple of grand in penalties. Buyer beware...

    I was wondering was it the grass that caused it to land hard or did it stall and drop hard?

    4:11 I watched the landing in 0.25 speed, and it looks like you pushed the stick forward just before the plane hits the ground. That being said, it didn't hit hard enough to be a problem for a well designed landing gear. It just crumbled without any resistance.

    You will be back in the air in no time. Great result and disregard the Monday morning quarterbacks, they weren’t there.
    Good to figure the gear weak points. A little more strength there and possibly more energy absorption capability and there would have been no damage.

  • @Dlgeis
    @Dlgeis 2 роки тому +1

    I would think carb ice would have given prior warning rough running slower rpm etc. In the video it appeared to just go from running well to dead, if that’s the case I would suspect fuel starvation, trash, air bubble in fuel system etc. Have you done a fuel flow test?

    Mechanically speaking you could have been caught up in a "love triangle" that resulted in a loose fuel line. An ordinary man might not have survived.

    Good job. You know what they say about landings! Got a question because I know nothing about these little planes, but am interested in getting one day. Do they typically need throttle added for landing? Just a curiosity question is all.

    You made in one piece and walked away.. That’s a good landing!!! ADP, you analyzed it, made the decision and landed without injury to yourself, public and property. We can armchair quarterbacks till the stars burn out.
