      I saw Spencer Tyler at the Scottish Festival in salt lake go for the world record at I think 42 feet but looked like a hundred. It was wild. He got the height but couldn't get it to arc over the bar. The weight over bar when you actually try swinging that thing (not as light as it sounds) is also insane at that level

    I’m literally sitting here watching this during my sandbag toss practice because I felt like my form was off. Instantly got all my bags over a 15ft bar on the first try after trying this technique! Thank you!

      Best part about the caber toss? It's scored on accuracy not distance. You have to be pretty strong to play, but it's not a game of strength.

    We were discussing trying this type of technique for the new Army Combat Fitness Test medicine ball throw a few weeks ago. The throw is for distance not height. My guess is the same mechanics apply just with a later release. Thanks for the video confirmation!

    Great video. I have a sandbag and haven't been able to figure it out. Been trying to swing it like a kettlebell and now understand why that is wrong. That bottle drill is smart as hell! Kyle is awesome; should have him on the channel more.

    This is extra interesting to me because I've been looking to improve my distance in the 10lb medicine ball throw event that is now part of the new Army Combat Fitness Test (ACFT). Obviously some of the mechanics differ.

  • @lockani
    @lockani 3 роки тому +7

    The way he explained how to time the swing was so vague and unclear I think the students struggled because they couldn't really understand what Kyle was saying.
    The bottom line behind not trying to pull too early, is "letting the bag swing back on its own."
    If you wait for gravity to pull the bag back down like a pendulum, you aren't wasting energy trying to slow the bag down yourself, and you benefit from the bag building up forward momentum on its own.
    Talking about the hips following the path of the bag still makes it sound like you're supposed to drive with the hips. Maybe the cue should be "push your hips out of the way."
