1:58:00 (I haven't read the comments yet, so disregard this comment if you already know) Mystique's wife (Destiny) is a blind mutant that can see multiple futures. She knew that Nightcrawler needed to go through certain tragic events in order for the best future she saw for mutants to happen. She and Mystique both knew that they could never give up Kurt willingly, so they went to Charles and had him wipe away their memories and the love they had of Kurt. In the comics, they recently got their memories back, but Destiny still doesn't have the emotional connection. The whole family, including Rogue (Kurt's adopted sister) and Gambit (Rogue's husband) are spending more time together now, trying to work out all of their issues. Also, a lot of us old comic readers have a theory that Dr. Val Cooper (blonde U.N. lady) is really Mystique in disguise because that's what happened in the comics. Mystique had her Brotherhood secretly based inside the Pentagon, until Carol Danvers (Captain Marvel) and the X-Men stopped her. I may be misremembering a couple of details, so anyone can feel free to correct me.
1:42:42 The reason why the avengers are different from the mutants is the mutants are genetic based meaning they got their powers from the day they were born and as the one of the movie said is that the gene comes from the father whereas heroes like Captain America hulk Spider-Man fantastic four most of it is from accidents Spider-Man was bitten by radioactive spider hulk was radiation explosion the fantastic four was like a space radiation exposure the guardians will there I wouldn't say the guardians have power so it depends which type of continuity you want to go with and Captain America is Lily was like created from a serum that gives you enhanced strength and speed
At 24:26 ruff mentions shitty powers, reminds me of the comic, of the worst x-man, who was a boy who had the power to explode, once, like a stick of dynamite
1:41:47 - For anyone else confused by this still, 5 months later: A 'mutant' is specifically defined by the presence of a set of 'x' genes that mark them out not only as people with powers but as literally a new subspecies (or, as Magneto would suggest, a successor species) of humankind. Steve Rogers is beyond human, but augmentations like his or the Hul'k's or Spider-Man's or Daredevil's happen because someone or something else intervenes. They are 'enhanced', whereas mutants are just born that way. For many of them, their powers lay dormant until puberty. But for some, like Nightcrawler or Leech (pour one out for Leech), they have both primary and secondary mutations, like altered physiology and appearance or anatomy from birth. Sometimes that's because of exposure to otherworldly forces (as in Nightcrawler's case) and sometimes that's just the way the cookie crumbled for them. In the way back when, the story was basically that after the creation of the nuclear bomb and the harnessing of the power of the atom, all of humanity was dosed with just the right amount of radiation, a tiny amount, of a specific kind released by the blast that triggered a mass 'activation' of this latent genetic potential, a mutation in their genetic structure. The X-Men were the 'children of the atom' in a literal sense - without atomic power or atom bombs, without that advancement, they might have never had their X genes turned on. Though, it's been suggested in different versions of things that some folks in the Marvel universe are only able to survive the things that happen to or are done to them because of a latent x gene.
Reactions like this make me wonder how much they actually miss because they keep talking over it. The amount of pausing and rewinding they must've done...
Mutants are born with thier powers. Inhumans are more athletic and healthier until the powers are activated ny terrigen mists and everyone else is a human mutate, and was exposed to something that made them a mutant. However people are more discriminatory to natural born mutants.
You should've watched 92 to 96 before watching 97', seriously... You wont regret it. 97' just wraps the whole story up, all the villains, all the storylines just make perfect sense ❤
FYI, Magneto and Storm were just alpha level mutants for the longest time. Their omega-level upgrade only happened 5 years ago. They're powerful, sure. But neither of them is close to Jean Grey's level who is the OG omega and has been one since the 1960s, decades before the term omega level was even coined.
it was sad that in the original series Bishop and Morph didn't get the love they deserved mainly because after episode 1 Morph was MIA for most of the series until it was revealed that Sinister found him healed him and than made him his slave and Bishop only really showed up when the future was in trouble ....I'm thinking the white blank skin on Morph is either his original look when his powers manifested or a sign that his power evolved ....and Storm ...you know she doesn't NEED to say all those lines but it makes what she does so much more badass
Mutants are humans born with the X-Gene, a gene that causes them to develop superhuman abilities around puberty. Superheroes like Spider-Man, the Avengers, and Fantasic Four aren't mutants. Many of them did obtain their powers from mutations, but they aren't mutants, they're mutates.
Bastion creating the Prime Sentinels gets mad twisted when you think about how people have been infected. Every person that you see turn into one (apart from Bastion's home town) has either openly expressed their hate for mutants, or have closely associated themselves to someone that has, which shows that even before activation, the news reporter that keeps getting closer to Beast might not even have had any feelings for him in the first place and was probably just using that angle to improve her journalistic career.
I didn't expect much when this came out, figuring it was another nostalgia cash-grab, but it exceeded all my expectations, and annoyed we don't get more shit this good
Boom your right on a good chunk of . magneto philosophy but he also genuinely believe that if given the chance humans would round up mutants and kill them he was a child in 1940s Poland. Erik Magnus Lensherr-Magneto
Also what makes mutants “mutants” is the fact that they are born with the x-gene. And the x-gene causes various mutations which rage from telepathy, energetic blasts, healing factors, and weather manipulation.
The difference in Mutants and other superheroes is a matter of genetics. Mutants are born with a genetic mutation that makes them develop one or more chromosomes differently, leading to them awakening superpowers in puberty. Most other superheroes (often called Mutates) are given powers by extenuating circumstances. For example, Cyclops was born with a genetic difference that gave him his laser vision when he was 16, but Spider-Man was born completely normal until a spider bit him and imbued him with radiation.

Morph and Mystique are two completely separate characters. They have similar mutations but they both live in the same universe. Also Jubilee is the best character, she is the heart of the team.
It hurts to hear Jean say that she wants to name the child Nathan, and see nobody react... I'm guessing Nathan Summers isn't as well known as his alias, Cable.
1:41:50 Well, your a little young. Marvel's Marry Mutants/ the X-Titles (+Spiderman) used to sell as much/more than all their other titles combined; The Avengers were a dumping grounds for characters who couldn't keep sales on their own titles. Stan Lee admittedly wrote Ironman to be unlikable (he's an armsdealer corporate capitalist, who before RDJ made gave him a fun personality, was nothing more than a wealth fantasy), while Hulk and Thor left the Avengers quickly after its launch and only occasionally returned as they often could hold their own titles... though not always, and thus their periodic return. Even if Cap couldn't keep his sales up, he was a Marvel Icon that they weren't going to shelve, but that want really the roster of Avengers we usually saw. Usually it was a montley assortment of b-list figures from across a "wacky" Marvel Universe. Even then, seeing how central the Marvel Mutants were, former mutant terrorists Wanda and Petro were brought onto the Avengers to bring Mutant issues to the title, and they even co-opted Magneto, and the Brotherhood as Avengers enemies (just ask Captain-miss-Marvel how Rogue got her powers); then the newly blue and harry Beast joined the Avengers becoming bffs with wonderman. Thru the 80s and 90s those other titles might as well have been tossed; and X-Titles themes overshadowed all, while the Avengers were often little more than Marvel's competition for the Justice League niche. And it make sense too. While Cap struggled to find relevancy, Marvels Mutants had meaning behind them; they were the marginalized, those other'ed by society, and were the conformity challenging youth culture, in a sci fi of a modern world where hierarchy, democracy and fascism are no longer able to rule, because every population will birth mutants with outsized personal power, despite being hated and feared. No other title had as powerful a symbolic message (in either Marvel of DC). But once the Fox x-movies came out, and Marvel realized that fox was making all the money, so Marvel deliberately sabotaged their x-verse and x-titles, sending us spiraling into 15-20 years of recycled crap writing, and even attempts at replacement with the "Inhumans". BUT now that Marvel has the movie rights again... The other Marvel Movies are feelgood fun, but hardly moving or meaningful, but Marvel X-titles are poised to move people's hearts with fiction that feels real yet again. Hulk, Spiderman are hated & feared by the public, and they are technically called Mutates. Even the Thing is often feared by the public. Franklin Richards is an x-factor based Mutant, though Reed just covered that up, and the FF has rarely stood with the Xmen, an issue that has come up again and again.
Loved watching this show honestly and if there's any marvel cartoons I'd say you guys should do next it'd be avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes you won't regret it 😉

So I'll post some periods or something to give them (and others) a chance of not seeing it.

So Morph was originally written just to be killed off in episode 1 to show the audience, it wasn't just a kid's show. That's what I mean by "one off."
@@CasualVideoGamer Ah, I see and yeah good point.
God damn, we need something like this, but with the Teen Titans
1:58:00 (I haven't read the comments yet, so disregard this comment if you already know)
Mystique's wife (Destiny) is a blind mutant that can see multiple futures.
I love how episode 3 straight up did what The New Mutants movie tried to do, better, in less than 30 minutes.
I just realized that Gambit is basically "Mr. Brightside" during the rogue/magneto dance lol
you guys should at some point check out X-Men: Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men
My favorite part of xmen97 is that it tricks you into watching a soap opera and you end up loving every second of the drama
Im thankful that my dad always brought out his old X-Men 97 tapes when he was at his 20s and I would watch it every night in 2017
Should have been “IT WAS UNCANNY” or “IT WAS ASTONISHING”
"is he ok?""i dont think so" 😂😂😂😂😂
You guys don't know Apocalypse 0_0 ?
Reactions like this make me wonder how much they actually miss because they keep talking over it. The amount of pausing and rewinding they must've done...
Yea. I can't even watch it. They legit talked right through Rouge's, "I can't feel you!" Seriously??
1:42:44 mutants are born the way they are. Captain America and Hulk were first human before getting powers.
Mutants are born with thier powers. Inhumans are more athletic and healthier until the powers are activated ny terrigen mists and everyone else is a human mutate, and was exposed to something that made them a mutant. However people are more discriminatory to natural born mutants.
In the second episode of the original show morph dies, just straight up.
1:42:40 cap and hulk are people who were mutated while the xmen are people who had already had the mutation ( through their DNA )
But neither of them is close to Jean Grey's level who is the OG omega and has been one since the 1960s, decades before the term omega level was even coined.
it was sad that in the original series Bishop and Morph didn't get the love they deserved mainly because after episode 1 Morph was MIA for most of the series until it was revealed that Sinister found him healed him and than made him his slave and Bishop only really showed up when the future was in trouble ....I'm thinking the white blank skin on Morph is either his original look when his powers manifested or a sign that his power evolved ....and Storm ...you know she doesn't NEED to say all those lines but it makes what she does so much more badass
sunspots mom is awesome in the comics, she was one of the few sacrifices offered up to the creation of this masterpiece.
Let's all hope that Disney does not screw this over as usual.
If you guys are enjoying this show you guys should watch X man Evolution! Also TMNT 2003 if possible.
I did make it a point to not....spoil anything. Because everyone wants to see you guys experience this.
I didn't expect much when this came out, figuring it was another nostalgia cash-grab, but it exceeded all my expectations, and annoyed we don't get more shit this good
Oh a reaction series to the Daredevil show would go so hard
Why did I just realise here what that last part REALLY meanssss😭🙏🏾🎉
Boom your right on a good chunk of . magneto philosophy but he also genuinely believe that if given the chance humans would round up mutants and kill them he was a child in 1940s Poland. Erik Magnus Lensherr-Magneto
if you google "X-Man", that's Cable from an alternate universe. he's much younger, but still has white hair. he's like the Steve Martin of Marvel
Also what makes mutants “mutants” is the fact that they are born with the x-gene. And the x-gene causes various mutations which rage from telepathy, energetic blasts, healing factors, and weather manipulation.
I cant believe none of them mentioned Nightcrawler's Three-Sword Style
The difference in Mutants and other superheroes is a matter of genetics. Mutants are born with a genetic mutation that makes them develop one or more chromosomes differently, leading to them awakening superpowers in puberty. Most other superheroes (often called Mutates) are given powers by extenuating circumstances. For example, Cyclops was born with a genetic difference that gave him his laser vision when he was 16, but Spider-Man was born completely normal until a spider bit him and imbued him with radiation.
1:37:34 this is so real. They found out that theyd make money with terrible products anyways and forgot theyd make WAY MORE money if they sent out good products
When Jean blocked cyclops's beams in the story he described, and she could see his eyes, was that the first time he ever saw a color that wasn't red?
Mutates and mutants are different in the Marvel universe. Anyone born with the x-gene is a mutant and other get powers by an accident is Mutates!
2:42:07 You might know good old En Saba Nur by a name he picks up a little bit later in history....Apocalypse.
The other thing i liked is they managed to get most the voice actors back to do their original characters.
"is this an ace of base song?" IM NOT THE ONLY ONE!!! i had the exact same dang thought. and that song goes so hard. but man it sounds so ace of base LOL (positive. i love ace of base)
h. hold on wait its actually genuinely an ace of base song ive never heard WHAT.
Can't wait for season 2.
Speaking of naming... Jubilee's name is Jubilation Lee. Shortened to Jubilee. Which works very well as a codename for her firework powers. 😂
I’m so happy with 97 I can’t wait to see Deadpool and Wolverine:)
Mutants are born with powers from the celestials when earth was still on its early stages
Jeff Beast is my favorite X-Men
Ben 10 ultimate alien 👽👽👽👽👽👽👽 plezzz 😂😂😂😂😢😢😢😢😢
Strongly Agree.
I mean… would they have to finish Ben 10 proper first😂
@@Mrs.Garrison69 oh yeah they did finish alien force.
It’s already greenlit for 4 seasons it was green lit for a 3rd after third episode
i never really was huge on Xmen only cuz i never really saw the show or movies as a kid but i loved wolverine! This show is awesome tho! I'm excited to experience more about em!
Fun fact, there is a multiversal spider-man variant named Pete Spiderman, who is a hero of the suburbs. Bishop's real name is also Lucas Bishop, so not far off
#15. Asking for you guys to do a group reaction to the animated pilot "Long Gone Gulch". It's set in the wild west following two sheriffs trying to jail outlaws and keep order in a town of mythical creatures and classic cryptids.
X-Men ‘97
The Movie!
Let’s Go!
Morph and Mystique are two completely separate characters. They have similar mutations but they both live in the same universe. Also Jubilee is the best character, she is the heart of the team.
1:23:34 that’s the oldest summers brother vulcan
"Don't ask. Don't tell." - W.T.F.?!
Jubilee name actually is Jubilation Lee so it's literally her name is her identity
Normal humans hate mutants and not other supes simply because mutants were born superior. That and John Sublime's influence
I know they made a huge deal when they said it in the show, but genuinely I think magneto was in the right for the entire show
Loved watching this show honestly and if there's any marvel cartoons I'd say you guys should do next it'd be avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes you won't regret it 😉
