Nice to see the new model GC Laredo with heated seats/wheel and remote start/power hatch. They’re rarer but they’re out there. Seen quite a few laredo WK equipped this way as well. Kind of a hidden gem and a way to get a decent GC for cheaper than going and getting an altitude, limited or whatever.
It looks very well equipped for the base model. Apart from leather seats, I'd find it hard to justify spending more on one of the higher models in the range. Here in thr UK the Laredo is very rare and most people seem to buy the Limited or higher - but personally I'd buy this one. One thing that I do avoid is air suspension - whenever I have had that (Range Rovers, Discoveries, Mercedes) I've had problems with it. I also don't want a glass roof. I use my Jeep as a working vehicle and I strap sheets of 8' x 4' plasterboard and ply to the roof, lengths of 2x4 etc - so I'll have a proper metal roof that I can stand on, please (and yes, I'm only 150lbs, not a fatty!)
I have a 2020 ford edge, it has it around the shifter nob/ cup holder area and a little bit on the door around the window switches, in the three years of ownership I have very little to non on scratches, the dust though, yeah. Once a week I’ll wipe it down and it looks great again with no issues.
I'd be in for one of these with the hitch. Want to keep it as simple as possible. Although I probably don't need a 4x4, it does come in handy sometimes. Don't need/want the air suspension. I like to feel the road.
Dont get me wrong, this is good value for what you get, but Jeep has a way of making you want their more deluxe/luxury features. The bigger screen, the better tech, the bigger moonroof, the more advanced safety tech, the massage seats, etc -- none of these are available in the Laredo trim... which is ~fine~ but it really makes you feel like youre missing out lol
Ford does that with the f-150 and probably many other manufacturers. It’s like in order to get one feature, you need to have a particular feature, which only come with a certain package, and that certain package only comes on a certain trim. It’s annoying.
that's the idea, it's why other trims and higher trims exist. if what you see in the base model, of any car or suv really is not enough for you, then you go up that next ladder or higher. but the thing is, not everybody needs or wants all that. you also have to consider price, Jeep can get pretty expensive especially when you go up to their higher trims. people also wonder about reliability, well for people who aren't as familiar with Jeep/Chrysler, if you wanna know which will be the most reliable long term, that would be the Grand Cherokee Laredo, and Limited. the Laredo doesn't have the adaptive air suspension, or some of the higher suspension options that you get on the higher trims. you may hear reviewers praising them, but you're the one that has to live with the vehicle. And for the most part, the base suspension in the Grand Cherokee Laredo, is about the same feel that you would get in the Ford Explorer, the Chevy Traverse/GMC Acadia, Toyota Highlander etc. what the air suspension does in the Grand Cherokee, it basically gives the vehicle more control, they say it makes it better for handling, but their have been some reported issues with the setup. i had a 2016 Ram that had those leaf springs, or whatever you wanna call it, i don't have that vehicle anymore because of it. so if something goes wrong like mine did, they're not cheap to get fixed. I've since gotten a regular Ram Tradesman single cab with the 8ft bed, and that was a welcome change. suv's aren't sports car, sure there's ways you can improve the handling, but the type of handling the industry tries to throw on cars, they often come with these really complicated fancy setups. that's going to create a problem down the road.
Love that the base trim Laredo has sunroof option and adaptive cruise + lane centering standard! Ben: how reliable is Jeep's lane centering in this new GC? Thanks!
I have this truck, I love it so much. I will say though, everyone keeps talking about the V6 only having 290hp I spoke to one of the engineers they all assured me the HP from the power terrain is actually 306. Can you confirm this??
Hey Ben quick question for you regarding drivability. I’m stuck between a 4Runner and the new Grand Cherokee. Since you were daily driving a 4Runner, how would rate the drivability of the Toyota compared to the Jeep? Which one did you like better? Keep up the good work on the videos dude!
That toggle isn't there on the console if you look at the console carefully. Since the Laredo doesn't have the other driving modes, I guess they just put an off/on button on that top stack.
I dont see how this is a great value. It costs 40K starting and is 45K as equipped. For the same price, a Telluride SX comes with a ton more features, tech, safety stuff, luxury touches, and space. For 45K I would expect a lot more from Jeep. Sure it has more ground clearance and a digital gouge cluster, but that's about it. No air suspension, 4 wheel steering, adaptive suspension, etc making this not even that much more off road worthy than a Telluride, for example.
Agreed. I have a limited gcl and while I love it, it is a terrible value prop. My 55k suv does not have rain sensing windshield wipers, power folding mirrors or front parking sensors. The positives are less shit to go wrong (go on the WL forum and you’ll see 90% of the problems are tied to the tech) and I got 6.5% off msrp.
@@atg1338 my 3.6 has 110k on it 8spd and nothing has gone wrong. I've had 3 5.7 hemi rams, all with over 150k on them with autos, nothing went wrong. I've maintained them like a sane person.
Nice ride. Digital gauge clusters are ok but I’m perfectly happy with and actually prefer just old school regular analog needle gauges.

I’d buy this one as well it has everything I’ll ever need plus it’s a v6
Amazing features for the money, at 44k its a great value. My 17 limited was 44k without the great features that come standard on this 22'

Some of your audio was cut out by static or something. Excellent video review though.

I'd go with the limited trim
Perfect example of the downside of piano black plastic. Brand new vehicle showing every speck of dust.

Definitely not worth the price

Jeep grand Cherokee putting awesome SUV in the parking lots for the people to go to test drive one of their SUV
No foglights and only available in dull colors. Would it kill them to give some b,use and greens and beige?
Everything is good but they said its price is 44k but when you get it total price will be 65k
Weird that the rear passengers have door locks. Usually cars had door locks on the driver's and the passengers but this car has one on the rear
Is base limited to 3,500 lb towing?

You didn’t put it into sport mode, have to use the toggle on the lower middle console
