  • I react to Dolly Parton for the first time. Hearing her sing her original song "I will always love you" which has made waves of covers including the famous one from Whitney Houston, and other great talented singers such as Putri Ariani.

Yes Dolly Parton wrote this song "I will always love you" back in 1974. She was on a Show with a very good friend of her Porter Wagoner. The show was doing great but Dolly had said before that she would stay for five years. Well when five years came about,Dolly said to Porter Wagoner that she was leaving and had to move on. Well naturally they argued and argued and all of that but Dolly word was solid. But before she left she came on the show one last time and said that she had something for him. He said OK and then she began to sing the song that she made for him. It was genuine, it was for real and it was from the heart. Then she left. And like her song said, "She will always love him was true to this very day. You got to remember that Dolly has written about three thousand songs and well over five thousand songs in her career. She has about eleven Grammy Awards, nine Country Music Association Awards, and nine Country Music Awards including her 2011 Lifetime Achievement Awards and a total of 54 Grammy Awards and Oscars as well. Her net worth was about six hundred and fifty million dollars. She also plays about seven or eight musical instruments very, very well. Like I said before, when Dolly wrote and sang " I will always love you, she was twenty seven years old back in 1973. Whitney Houston was born August 9, 1963. As time went on Dolly was driving to one of her homes and decided to put on the radio and guess what? She heard Whitney Houston singing her song. She freaked out and almost wrecked her car. Nobody had told Dolly anything least of all, Whitney Houston. Well then Dolly called to see what was going on. Then Whitney told Dolly that she was going to be in a show and they couldn't find one. And then when she heard Dolly singing, "I will always Love You", she instinctively knew that that was the song that she had to have. She changed some of the lyrics around at the beginning of the song and though as Dolly can tell you that Whitney did, it was Dolly's song. Well Whitney had to start paying royalty checks for the privilege to sing her song and she did. When somebody asked Dolly if she was mad that Whitney was calling it her song, Dolly just laughed laughed. She said she can call it her song all she wants as long as those checks kept coming in. According to Rolling Stone Magazine, Dolly just received about seven thousand dollars before she unfortunately died. But anyway I was wondering if you would please play one of my favorite songs by Dolly Parton called, "Me and Little Andy". Also I would like your opinion about what you think about it. Hopefully you will agree that there is a reason why people refer to Dolly Parton the "Queen of Country Music". Like they say, "Proof is in the pudding" Goodnight. Adios.

She’s been singing this song since 1974. You should hear her original version. Slightly different inflections. This was a very personal song for her. A song that allowed her to move on, on her own as a star.

My favorite video is the first time she sang it. She sang it live on The Porter Waggoner Show, the man she wrote it for. He sits down with her at the end, very sweet moment. She wrote this, and Jolene, in one evening! Dolly has written over 3,000 songs❤️

She’s only The Queen of Country!😊 She wrote this to her boss who wouldn’t let her out of her contract on his show in the early 70’s. Then she wanted to give it to Elvis but his manager wanted the rights to her song. She says no. Finally in the 90’s she sold it to Whitney. Consider watching the performance where she tells the story behind the song. She also wrote Jolene - another huge timeless hit. And thousands of other songs. Girl , grew up in a one room shack with 11 siblings in Tennessee . Dad was a sharecropper.
    An amazing journey.

Authentic because she wrote the song back in 1973 for old boss who didn’t want her to go out on her own so she wrote this to him before she left his show.

Dolly wrote and first sang it in 1973. She wrote this song as a goodbye to Porter Wagoner.

Dolly has been performing since she was about 10 years old, so by this point, yes, she'd had 40+ years of experience and she was used to doing live radio and TV in her early career. She makes a great awards show host because she can roll with it. Dolly wrote this song as a goodbye to the man who gave her big professional Porter Wagoner, who had a weekly TV show, and the only way he'd agree to let her leave her contract was if he got to produce this song. She's been a prolific hit maker, 49 studio albums, over 4000 songs, 25 number one hits. She had a number 1 hit with this song TWICE on country radio, once in 1974 when first released, and again in 1982 as a part of a movie soundtrack for her movie with Burt Reynolds. She charted it a third time after Whitney's cover as a duet with Vince Gill. She's a legend, smart businesswoman, I mean the woman owns her own theme park, Dollywood, in Tennessee and could easily be a billionaire but has given away large portions of her fortune to charity. Think about this too, Dolly sang this song while sitting down and its hard to sing while seated. Some fun songs from her you might like Jolene, 9 to 5 from the movie she starred in of the same name, her most autobiographical song is Coat of Many Colors. Everyone has covered Jolene, from country to rap and rock stars. Speaking of Rockstars, Dolly just released her first rock and roll album after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, called Rockstar, 9 tracks she wrote for it, and 21 covers of classic rock songs including many of the original artists who were thrilled to join her including Sting, Elton John, Paul and Ringo from the Beatles, Debbie Harry from Blondie, Pat Benatar, Steve Perry of Journey, just to name a few. Dolly is a living legend.

Thank you for writing this and giving me this background info! To be totally honest, I'd rather have her as president than the current candidates 😂, she probably has experience interacting with all kinds of people in the country, and the kindness needed to help and bring ppl together.

You are welcome, people have said Dolly for president too, but she works to avoid being political. Universally, no matter what the context whether it is a celebrity or just a fan or average person, people report what a warm sweet person she is when they meet her. She's said the outside of her may be fake but the inside is completely genuine.@@xFayze

You didn't mention that you've done Angelina Jordan's version. That's a great one too. And btw, just about 3 weeks ago, Dolly sang at halftime at the Dallas Cowboys football game in a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader uniform! I don't know if you've ever seen those but they're quite skimpy!! She looked amazing, as always:)

Dolly! ❤ React to her song, Coat of Many Colors. It’s based on her personal experience as a child and it’s a tear jerker. It’s very heartfelt.
Fun fact: Elvis Presley approached her to sing this song but wanted half ownership of the song and she turned him down. Smart move! She’s made a ton of money off of Whitney’s version. ✌🏻
