When I was around 14 years old, my mother was in the storm of her addiction. A cousin of mine that was a gospel singer gave my mother this concert on VHS, and I listened to this tape day in and day out learning every single word of Helen’s testimony & songs. I use to play that VHS tape for my mother to keep her from leaving to go get high. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t, but what it did do EVERY TIME is get me through some pretty dark days as a child. I can’t thank this lady enough for her gift of song that got me through. It was her music that kept me close to God that gave me the ability to continuously pray for my mothers strength to break her addiction even in my darkest days when I hated her. Eventually, God took the taste of crack cocaine out of her mouth but it wasn’t till I was grown & married with kids of my own that she finally kicked her addiction. Things between us isn’t the best, but I’m at peace with where things are.

When I was around 14 years old, my mother was in the storm of her addiction. A cousin of mine that was a gospel singer gave my mother this concert on VHS, and I listened to this tape day in and day out learning every single word of Helen’s testimony & songs. I use to play that VHS tape for my mother to keep her from leaving to go get high. Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn’t, but what it did do EVERY TIME is get me through some pretty dark days as a child.
I can’t thank this lady enough for her gift of song that got me through. It was her music that kept me close to God that gave me the ability to continuously pray for my mothers strength to break her addiction even in my darkest days when I hated her.
Eventually, God took the taste of crack cocaine out of her mouth but it wasn’t till I was grown & married with kids of my own that she finally kicked her addiction. Things between us isn’t the best, but I’m at peace with where things are.
It's a struggle.....love 💕 ur mama.

I had a praying Grandmother, when I was 6 yrs old I use to have seizures bad one's, I wouldn't go no where my brother had to run and get me to bring me back home, because I thought I was ok, but my grandma knew I won't, one night my grandma prayed for me all night long, it seen like the Lord was right there just listening to her all night long, I was heal through the Grace of God, my grandma was save with the Holy Ghost, she lived to be 101 yrs old, from that day until today, I have never had a seziure again, Thank you Jesus.

I really had a praying great grandmother. Although she passed away, her prayers are what kept me. This song reminds me of my great-grandmother's prayers and the unconditional love she showed me. My great grandmother one of the individuals who never looked down on me. It didn't matter what I did, her love never changed. I thank God for her and her prayers.
