- This is an original song called “Letting the Darkness Go” by Rachel Allison. This song is about the struggle between long term mental health problems such as depression, anxiety and addiction and how the opportunity to trust and choose to take the hand of Jesus to be able to heal you from past pain, trauma and bondage is right there. He’s always been there, all along, waiting for you to take his hand so he can lead you back to his glorious light. He never meant for us to be trapped in our misery and claim it for ourselves as who we are, never expecting him to heal and change us to where we see better days and healing. Part of experiencing that long term healing is choosing to let go even if little by little, learn from Him, let him teach us is is Him we need to cling to instead of crutches that can leave us feeling emptier than ever. In order to cling to Him we must let go of the crutches and let him hold us up instead. He is so patient with us and understands us and knows us better than we know ourselves. He’s gently beckoning you to leave behind that thing that is keeping you trapped and instead learn how to live with his yoke upon our shoulders for his burden is light.
““Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 NIV
I feel this so much! There’s been a lot I’m still hanging on to that I’m slowly letting it go. Years and years of things that hurt me or that I did are slowly losing their grip on me and I’m becoming more thankful. This Song is beautiful!
The title of this song should be " LETTING THE DARKNESS GO". ❤
Thanks for commenting! I think we all have things we need to let go and let God have and heal us from. It’s so like Him to not force us to give them over but gently try to persuade us that it’s for our good that we give them to him so we don’t have to worry over them or keep replaying them in our minds anymore which causes us even more pain.
