Thank you for posting this. I'm a returning follower of Christ, I was away and neglected him for around 15 years. I have a very similar story. Was out of a job for 8 months recently, losing money like crazy. My bank account dropped all the way to $1000 and I suddenly landed a great job just before total financial ruin. Scared the hell out of me, but also opened my eyes quite a bit. I still struggle with having total faith, and I sin like anyone else, but I'm working on it and praying for Him to strengthen my faith every night.
I find myself asking "where are you?" too, in fact just last night I was asking God this with everything going on in Israel. I found this video of yours within 4 minutes of you posting it; it's amazing how He works. His timing astounds me every time lol.

Thanks for sharing, Very inspiring. I purchased some of your courses over the years and had kind of forgotten about them and your You tube site. I started watching some of your fusion based You Tube videos again just the other day and had wondered what is happening on your site and if you were still posting. You were one of the first Guitarists I had watched on You Tube for guitar instructional videos. Probably about 2015. I guess since covid, so many artists started posting similar content on You Tube and now all of a sudden there were so many good sites putting out excellent guitar tutorials that I forgot about those initial sites that I had subscribed to. I think that's how I sort of had forgotten about your site. Long story short. It's amazing you posted this video and I just so happened to see it. I'm constantly trying to rebuild my faith and commitment to the lord and many times I feel empty inside in this regard. This video came at a perfect time for me. And again, your You Tube site has a treasure trove of free lessons for us all. Much appreciated :)

@@mclekrell Even though Jesus never actually said the words, if you make mistakes in life ("sin") and you do not confess them to Jesus (even though he never asked us to confess to him), you will burn for eternity as punishment... even though Jesus never spoke of hell when he was actually speaking of the garbage dump in the Valley of Ben-Hinnom where dead bodies were burned (all our imagery of hell comes from Dante's Inferno).
If you have ever committed sin ("to miss the mark" an archery term), you must repent ("turn away from") whatever your sin is and, and according to Christianity, you must confess that Jesus is God (even though Jesus NEVER said that he was God), and ask his forgiveness so that a loving God will not send you to the garbage dump in Israel in the Benn-Hinnom Valley where "the fire is not quenched and the worm doesn't die" as the dead bodies are burned.
Jesus DID exist and he taught a message of love, compassion, understanding, acceptance, and non-judgment.
He was a super-devout Jew and he taught that the end of the world and God's judgment was imminent. That's why he taught that people better start being good to others and start acting right because the judgment was just about to happen.
The only time Jesus "lost it" and got super pissed was when he was condemning the religious people for having cold dead hearts, no compassion and for only caring about looking pious and feeling superior.
Paul turned the religion of Jesus into a religion about Jesus.
Christians don't understand that the Bible came from the Bible that was compiled and edited by the Catholic Church.
That is to say that the sin guilt-trip and the fear of eternal damnation did NOT come from anything Jesus actually said. They are Catholic inventions to mind-control poor serfs via a guilt and ritual-based mind control program.

I should mention that what is happening in Israel is going to turn into a world war between Israel and all of the Muslim middle east, all of whom are allies with Russia China and North Korea. Putin is already super pissed over Ukraine, so just imagine when Lebanon and Syria align with Iran in support of the Palestinian women and children being murdered by missiles, and Assad calls up Putin and invites him to join them and start kicking some ass.
In other words, the guilt-trip-based lies of Catholic-invented religion don't matter... you better make some reservations so that you know where your soul is going when we all get nuked. And most importantly...
Be nice to people, even if their beliefs rub you the wrong way. ;)
This video is really just about idolatry and love of money and completely giving yourself over to it due to THE EGO'S desire to have money and feel superior. Lots of religions (especially Buddhism) talk about stuff like this.
Crucifying the ego is part of Christianity, as it is a part of most religions.
Being a slave is never fun.

@@mclekrell You see God is holy, and we are sinners and we all should go to hell because holiness can't mingle with sin. So what happened on the cross was Jesus took punishment for our sins, he died for them, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Which means that God the Father accepted the sacrifice. So if you repent and put your trust in Jesus, an exchange is taking place. Jesus takes your sins and gives you His righteousness. Therefore, God sees you as holy as you have never sinned, you are united with Him and God gives you Holy Spirit who leads you and transforms you. Moreover, you get everlasting life and are welcome in heaven. Why would you reject Jesus if He's the only way?

I am NOT a Christian.... But I feel you brother, and honestly enjoyed this video. Spirituality is a powerful thing. I have a little testimony for you. I once got a chance to visit Italy. Went to Florence, Rome and a few other places. Visited lots of churches including St. Peter's Basilica. The art, the architecture, the amazing craftsmanship.... I felt the presence of God in those buildings. People labored for hours, days, years creating those buildings, and they did it for the love of God, and I could feel that, and I had to try very hard to stop myself from breaking down crying on two occasions. I can't put it into words, but it was powerful, and it was real. Anyways, David, you're a good man. Anyone can see that. Keep on rocking.

I met a joyous old black man in a hamburger shop. He asked my wife and I where we go to church. I said we weren’t attending right now but have gone to St. Charles and then Gardendale. He said come over to our church if you’re looking. He then said something I’ve never forgotten…”Say we all going to California. You may drive, you may take a plane and I’ll take the bus.
But we ALL going to California!!!”
He laughed, picked up his carryout and left. But his non divisive heart has never left.

David, I'm still here! Listen bro, I got saved when I was 12 years old. I've almost 62. All I can say is the Holy Spirit came to me and I ended up walking several miles to a church for Vacation Bible School because I wanted to learn about Jesus. I got saved and baptized. There are a lot of us, I'm sure, that support your courage!

I work in sales, and I feel like I've been at a point recently where I am way too focused on numbers, trying to reach a certain goal by the end of this year, and ultimately it just brings nothing but stress and feelings of emptiness. The same applies to other goals and fixations, other trivial things in my life. Thank you for the important reminder.

Thank you for the testimony. This is the first time I've seen anything from your channel, and I'm glad it was this. I needed the reminder, frankly.
I was laid off recently from a very high paying job due to a merger and have felt a lot of anxiety about what's next. I used to be a preacher and barely made ends meet. I didn't mind as I was focused on helping people in meaningful ways. I didn't need all the "stuff" that I've gradually deceived myself about over the years. It's all subtle, gradual distraction and eventually chokes out Christ and the Holy Spirit. Like you, I found myself feeling distant and disconnected. I hated that feeling.
Now I'm rethinking my "career" and looking for a way back into ministry. Back to a fulfilling, humble way of life with a proper focus on Jesus and eternity. You're testimony here reinforces it for me. Reminds me of the better course.
Maybe you'll lose some subs over sharing your faith. Dont worry. Jesus has always had your back, and is using what you did here to help not a few of us who needed the encouragement of your faith.

I watched to the end. Thank you for your testimony. I have mixed feelings about this but that's OK. I appreciate you, and that you shared this with us all. I waned to let me know that you have helped me with the "emotional" part of playing more than anything. You have taught me how to look in and play what is inside me, and not what my fingers want to play.... It's still a HUGH work in progress, but I thank you for pointing my playing in that direction.

Thanks David. Resonates with me in so many ways. Retired now and able to focus on helping others, doing the things I want to do when I want. Secure financially but I see my colleagues continue to work to accumulate more money they don’t need and will probably never get to spend. FYI- I have been following you way over a decade… there was an old online guitar lesson platform years ago where I first saw you. On UA-cam I learned Shine by collective soul and the youth group at our church played it. I quit playing before Covid and watched your videos during Covid and started playing again. I now play praise and worship (rock style lol) at the construction company I work for on Friday mornings and signed up to play at a local church as well. I try to play every day- not because I am the best at it… but like the parable of the talents… to be a good steward of the talent he gave me. FYI- love the way you teach. Thanks David

I've also had "challenges" in the past that I have overcame - but.. I just started "Guitar UA-cam" at the start of this year and I do notice myself, focusing on numbers more than I should, and spending less time with the people close to me.

Interesting... I'm not one of those "drop off" viewers when you mention the name Jesus. I'm curious why you felt the need to share this deeper level of your personal life. It seems like something big is stirring in your life's story right now. I applaud your courage for sharing, knowing that it will cause strong reactions. I am so incredibly happy that Jesus took those temptations away before it completely ruined your life. Whenever I feel that I do not "have enough" of something (whether that be money, attention from others, etc.), Holy Spirit always reminds me to stay grateful...
"Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you who belong to Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT)
No matter our circumstances, there is always something to be grateful for. And when we focus on gratitude instead of lack, then those cravings start to fall away and we come to realize that our circumstances are not an indicator of God's love for us. God may not fulfill our whims, but our needs will always be taken care of.
"Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you."" (Hebrews 13:5 NLT)
What you said at @14:58 makes me feel that Jesus is helping you to understand this too, that the lessons that he shares throughout Luke 12:13-34 are becoming more clear to you. Questioning the existence of God is a fairly common experience. The bible itself is filled with stories of people who repeatedly had doubts and/or blamed God for their misfortunes.
However, the Love of God is the only thing that can ever truly satisfy us for eternity or provide us with the strength necessary to overcome the most difficult of hardships in life. When we use everything that we have to humbly serve others, then this Love becomes quite apparent.
I sincerely hope that this message is of help in your "walk with God". Many blessings of health and well-being upon your family.
