    Rally drivers do this all the time, same as left foot breaking, just an adaptation for street racing

    Break boost is it good for the break and engine? There are many turbo cars with aftermarket throttle control device how does it work to get instant boost?

    It's called left foot braking. It's one of the main factors contributing to awd taking over the rally scene.

    Does this result in a lot of brakewear?

    • @FalseShxpherd
      @FalseShxpherd 7 років тому +22

      obviously it will wear your breaks.Its stopping the car from accelerating.

    • @Crazdor
      @Crazdor 6 років тому +12

      I know you asked this a year ago, but in case anyone else sees this video and wonders the same thing -
      Yes, this will absolutely cause excess brake wear.
      You are "attempting" to accelerate, so you're delivering more power to the wheels which will begin to spin faster. However, you are using the brakes to prevent that from actually happening, so you're essentially taking the energy from the engine to the wheels and using the brakes to transform that kinetic energy into heat (via friction between the wheels and the brakes).
      So not only will this decrease the overall lifespan of the brakes, but you will also begin to heat up the brakes and increase the likelihood of brake fade. Again, brakes use friction to slow down the wheels (naturally) which turns kinetic energy into heat; as brakes heat up, they lose efficiency and eventually will lose the ability to slow down the car (or other vehicle) altogether (temporarily), which is called brake fade.
      Worth mentioning that brake fade itself is a temporary condition and once the brakes cool down, they will be function normally again. However, the wear introduced by brake boosting is naturally permanent and will wear out brakes a bit faster, and of course while brake fade will eventually "fade" (pun intended), getting to that point is never a good idea because it, too, will decrease the lifespan of your brakes.
      That all being said, it takes a fair amount of time to cause brake fade (friction fade, anyway) and generally isn't a huge issue in most conditions because you let off the brakes and allow them to cool down before using them again. It's most commonly an issue when you're, say, going down a large hill and lightly pressing the brakes to control your speed that it becomes an issue, or things like that.
      I know this is a bit of a long comment and part of it, at least, is not entirely related to the question (that was asked a year ago, lol) but it's definitely something to be aware of while doing this or similar things - brakes are one of, or arguably the, most important systems in your vehicle and everyone should be aware of potential risks that could diminish their ability to function.

    Hi Mark , Darren from Perth here mate . Besides the brake wear , is this bad for engines or turbos .

    • @StreetFXofficial
      @StreetFXofficial  7 років тому

      Hey mate, not really - it just simulates additional load on the engine. It also can help you listen out for knocking as you have less road noise.

    so the idea is to to use brake boosting as a way to bring it up the rpm to the point of max boost to be able to get a good rolling launch?

    • @StreetFXofficial
      @StreetFXofficial  6 років тому +2

      Brings the boost up to decrease lag. If you kid the turbo up it makes Boost whole maintaining speed at a roll. Will give you a big jump over someone who isn’t doing it.
