    People forget that when he came out as a solo artist....he was the probably the youngest dude out there and he wasn't light skinned with no greasy jeri curled...even the girls back then didn't think he was the most talented or the most attractive in New Edition...Ralph Tresvant was the one they liked....but when Bobby came out with that second album "Don't Be Cruel",,,,especially him hoping out of the Mercedes Benz with the jewelry ....pumping on stage, then he had the Gumby haircut on Every Little Step....He gave Usher and Chris Brown the Blueprint to be successful in R&B and cross over to the Pop Charts without selling out...Teddy Riley always gets a lion's share of the credit for the music but LA and especially Babyface were the ones who created the sound that fitted him like a glove!

    12 million albums, not streams, not .99 cent singles. If you wanted music back in the day the ish had to be damn good for people to spend money on an entire album. Bobby was a bad dude and pioneered the hip hop r&b movement. He put a sharp edge on r&b when it had been soft love ballads. B-Brown is the original hip hop r&b bad boy.

    When Bobby Brown Left New Edition, And Went Solo He Blew Up. And Sold More Ablums, Than When He Was With New Edition. As A Solo Artist His Career Didn't Flop. Ralph Tresvant Solo Career, Was Short, And I Love Ralph, But He Wasn't Bobby Brown. Bell, Biv, Devoe Was Hot. And They Were Great, But They Album Sales, Wasn't Like Bobby Brown. Johnny Gill Was Successful, In His Solo Career. But Again Bobby Brown, Sold More Records, And Had Huge Album Sales. Bobby Brown Paved The Way, For Alot Of Artist Today. He's A Icon And Still Is, The True King Of R&B. He Didn't Give A Damn, About What Anyone Thought About Him. He Did It His Way, And He Was Successful. He's The Best There Is, The Best It Was, And The Best It Ever Will Be. Love Me Some Bobby Brown!!! KINGOF R&B. 👑👑 👑

      Donna Crenshaw wooo you love Bobby Brown and there is no crime in that BUT do not create new facts by forgetting the historic facts, when we talk about impactful trend setting pop/rock R-n-B male artist it begins and ends with James Brown whom if you look at their performances, singing, the ad-libs, band performances etc Micheal, Prince, Lenny Kravitz all took a little something from JB and so did Bobby, think I'm lying look up James Brown performances. Classic era of hip-hop late 80's- 90's which god fathered New Jack Swing which was Bobby's specific lane no doubt...but all of that came from James Brown. Much of James Brown's music was sampled by NWA, Public Enemy, Heavy D, Salt-n-Pepa, Notorious BIG, EPMD etc. Also current hip-hop artist such Jay, Kanye and Kendrick sampled JB....who's sampling Bobby? Chris Brown may be the bad boy but he dances when Usher dances when Neyo dances most people refer back to Michael Jackson who credits James Brown. Bobby was the man for his generation hands down. Don't Be Cruel is a classic album however his follow-up was not as popular. After 1992, he never released another successful solo record again. Best there is, hmmm Best there Was blaah, Best there ever will be, how bout na. More like best from 1988-1992

His style of dress was awesome and unique for his personality. Bobby was the man. He feared nothing and was ready to take his career to the limit. His i dont give a dam attitude hooked on to many and they took notice. Bobby demanded the stage and took control. Yes he did all that. He has since paid a high price for it all..and to this very day. Bobby is Bobby..a much slower wiser Bobby!! But all my hopes for him. He made my youth a place i can go back and visit and say thanks Bobby for the fun days!!! You were a bright spot!💗💗💗💗💗💗

    Bobby Brown is definitely ICONIC, but...his impact in R&B music was remarkable. When he was voted out of New Edition, and launched his solo career...he changed the face of R&B. He blended Hip-Hop with R&B/Soul at the time of the New Jack Swing era, and made it marketable into Pop music, which led his 1988 sophomore album, "Don't Be Cruel" an instant smash, and the best selling album of 1988. With the production of Teddy Riley, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Antonio "L.A." Reid, and Darryl Simmons, he was crowned the "King Of R&B."

    This takes me back to that part in the "New Edition story" when their manager Brooke Payne told them, when they were young, in rehearsal "This is a group, everybody is equal, all works the same way" "so if you're thinking about getting up on that stage trying to outshine everyone else, forget about it" Brooke said this to the group while looking right at Bobby and Bobby had a "whatever!" look on his face. Well we know the rest. I knew then Bobby was going to be something to reckon with and he has certainly made his mark on the group and the industry. It was his PREROGATIVE.

  • @DavidRichardson95

    Bobby Brown has lived, seen and done it all. I remember being seven and watching the Whitney Houston 20/20 interview with my mother, and from that point on, everybody blamed Bobby for Whitney's downfall and spiral into her drug addiction. It's unfortunate what transpired with his former wife and her only daughter. If they was only able to live their lives, and not be bombarded with overt criticism, Whitney and Bobbi Kristina would still be alive. RIP.
    Bobby Brown without a doubt is the original R&B _bad boy_ long before Chris Brown, Jodeci, and countless others came. Two of his albums are classics, and his music videos especially _Every Little Step_ is iconic in itself. From the album, Gumbi hairstyle, fashion, persona and stage presence, Bobby Brown did it all, and was the first. And he's the only NE member with a Grammy. The _Don't Be Cruel_ album still knocks in 2018, and everyone (especially Bruno Mars) wants to bring that vintage R&B/new jack swing flavor back to the mainstream and pop charts. I only wished I had grown up in that era. And watching the archives, it seemed like a _helluva_ lot of fun. I will be watching in two weeks!! IDC what anyone says, it's time for BB to tell his truth. Point blank period.

      @Chuck Anya I see where you're going with that, but Bobby brought a specific urban and unapologetically masculine sex appeal to his stage presence and musical expressions, that was unlike anything we ever seen prior to him. James laid the foundation. He was soul, rock n roll, funk and authentically black in his expressions, but his conk/perm hairstyle was an apology. His utterances were more rural than urban. He also lacked the sex appeal of Bobby.

    Bobby Brown stage presence had remained unmatched...he could sing...dance...and engage the audience all at the same damn time. As far as the greatest Prince, Michael...they were iconic...but they didn't have that performance blend to the naturally perfected balance like Bobby did...Prince and Michael became entranced in their own performances...often going into another realm and leaving the audience behind... Bobby performed with peripheral vision...staying in tune and engaged from start to finish. In the same right as Whitney...some many stellar God given elements combined to make the singular unique talent....next to impossible to duplicate that level of authenticity.

    I'm a 70's kid, and I have grown up through the many changes of music from that time, I would listen to my parents old 45's records and many of those songs became mines. My dad loved Motown, Marvin Gaye, and my mom loved the O'Jays Chaka Khan and many others, from that era, I fell in love with Marvin Gaye. To me if there were someone else who would be called The King of R&B it would be Marvin Gaye, the man was a MUSICAL GENIUS his music is TIMELESS, and I still listen to it today. I am still moved about the way he left US ( which is one of the reason why I love Bobby Brown). Growing up in the Jackson Five, Motown, and Michael Jackson era, I really learned to love music, and appreciate the Art form, the Artist, and it's place in history. So when my generation of music came around I fell in love with an artist of N.E. When I was old enough to go to concerts, my first one was N.E, and the Fat Boys. The Fat Boys open the show ( and I feel they are so under rated as hop hop artist, I love them to), then out came N.E singing all of their hit songs of that time, then came Mr. Telephone man, and HE stepped to the Mic to sing one of the leads on the song and I was in love with HIM from that day forward. It was Mr. Bobby Brown, and I have followed his music, life, and entertainment ever since then. So yes I am glad to see this day when this MAN is finally recognized for his music, I don't want to get into the WAR ( ALL opinions are RESPECTED) on whether or not this is TRUE cuz that would take to long and a wast of time for me, because NO MATTER what ANYONE says This man has help to make MUSIC HISTORY, like him or not, and well I like him. I have grown to appreciate many artist come and gone, past and present. I have learn to love each artist uniqueness so I really don't compare artist, or anyone, I appreciate them for who THEY are. I love many old school jams and some new, but to ONE am I a real FAN. I love HIM, his raw ability to entertain, his music and who HE is. That is MR. BOBBY BROWN to YOU am I a real FAN, ( I would just love to meet you face to face to shake your hand to tell you just that thank you), I've been rocking with YOU from day ONE, I have followed YOUR career, and prayed YOU through the up's and downs, thank you for sharing your talent, your vision and your dream to entertain us, it is NOT about being PERFECT cuz NO ONE IS, but it's about being who you were created to BE, and sometimes that is hard for any of us to DO. Thank you for giving us songs we can LOVE to, JAM to, PARTY to, and have a good time DANCING to. I have enjoyed you Sir then and NOW 2018 until LO, I am proud of you and your family, I am glad to see you still here, to see that your TRUE FANS still love you, and WE'RE still HERE for YOU, I am glad to see you and your brothers together, whether it is Head of State, RBRM, or ALL OF U I loved the stories and I love you all. I have your book, your seasonings, I cook with them all the time now it is great. To ME I am your number 1 FAN hahah cuz I didn't just start loving you and your music, l've loved you from day 1. N. E 4 LIFE, but King Bobby Brown 4EVER LO, until the end of time, and even forever ALWAYS YOUR FAN, I follow all of your pages online.May God continue to bless U & your family I only now pray to see U in heaven. Love U Bobby Brown 2018 until LO. sorry so LONG hahaha.I just Love ya mann hahaha!

    Bobby is a legend. Top 5 favorite artist. Favorite R&B artist. New Jack swing, what an era. Caught the end of it, but glad I got to witness it. Bobby doesn't get enough credit. Dude had a sound he wanted and went to Teddy Riley to create the sound & he got it. That Hip-hop & R&B sound. Whitney Houston was sent to destroy him. Bobby coulda been large.

    It's about time Bobby got his credit. I been saying for year artists are quick to credit Michael Jackson, and MJ was AMAZING, but when you look at the R&B artist in the past 20 years, from R. Kelly, Usher and Chris Brown, their image is Bobby. Bobby's career was supposed to be at the level of a male Janet Jackson, but you know... Drugs.

    • @arigonz
      @arigonz 6 років тому +3

      Right. I'm an MJ fan and I didn't really see any MJ in Usher, JT or Chris Brown. MJ was not a "rnb bad boy" Bobby Brown is. He deserve the recognition.

    None if them would exist without Marvin, the real King of R&B. You know your iconic when you recognized by one name. I'll give Bobby B. his props. When he first appeared on Arsenio back in '88, I believe, I thought to myself while watching his performance, this is the next Marvin Gaye.

    Without a doubt when it comes to the r&b world Bobby Brown definitely is/was a legend.. Still be jamming to his music.. My favorite song is Every Little Step.. Not to mention he's a fellow Aquarian.. Loved the New Edition Story, so I know imma love the Bobby Brown story.. I wonder will they do the other individual stories for the rest of New Edition?
