Everyone I know with a professional degrees have careers, not jobs, and have paid off homes before they near 50, take more than one vacation a year (and they don't slum it on vaca), own very nice cars, kids in private school, have house cleaners, yard keepers... And they never bicker (and they dont have to act fake in public because they might be fighting all the time at home).
Only my dad, who never went to college, (I'm a graduate) who just paid off his 3 bed 1 bath home finally in his 70s, bashes college grads. Pure jealousy?
On the other hand, if you send your child to uni to obtain an art degree, or a psychology degree (which is a totally saturated market), or a human sociology degree (where you can get a job in that field without a degree) all you have an unemployed kid with a useless degree.
The degree you choose is of utmost importance because most degrees are flooded - everyone has one. Be competitive.

School didn't work for me and I dropped out after 1,5 years of IT study. Now im a freelance 2D animator and traveling the world while doing that. So yeah, couldn't agree more you really don't need to follow the 'regular' path. People in the real world don't care what college degrees or diplomas you have, they care about the quality of product you deliver.

University should be subsidized by the government. It’s never a bad idea to learn. I just think that going into massive debt over it is indeed a scam and a terrible thing to start your adult life with. There is of course societal pressure in many countries and communities to go to university straight out of high school and that needs to stop. We need more blue collar and skilled workers.

I couldn’t agree more!!👏🏾👏🏾 Being a U.S. Citizen myself, just thinking or talking about college gets me going because of what I call the “American Stigma” where they just want you to stay in the traditional kind of lifestyle where you graduate H.S., then immediately go to college because you feel you have to or friends/family/relatives make you feel like you won’t be successful if you don’t go (I was in this position myself), get a “good paying job” in a flipping cubicle or an office (and get about 10 minutes of PTO every year🤦🏽‍♂️), get married, have kids, retire, die. I can go on and on but I won’t😂. It’s absolutely absurd how much folks go into debt over a sorority or a degree they can learn online like you said Lloyd. Hopefully the new stigma is starting to learn online or learn via UA-cam #UA-camUniversity🤟🏾. Very well put together video Lloyd and glad that more people are talking about this. As always hope you 4 are doing well😃💛

My university gave me so much knowledge, but mostly connections. One of my university friends got her first job after the first year but continued her studies, I joined her after the second year but continued my studies. We are both successful thanks to the uni, and that first job. We don't practice the degree we received, but we definitely practice some knowledge and skills.
However, if I paid for my uni, I would probably have more negative things to say about it. Mine was completely free for 5 years, they even paid me a bit so I could buy books and some food😀

I feel a bit lost with what to do with my life. I traveled a lot over 30years Is living in New Zealand has become expensive I'm not the greatest tech guy😏 in the world I'm currently. Unemployed, I am in my 50s now, but fit and healthy. Would love to find a way to get into some sort of income online?. As I would wish to live Somewhere like Thailand or Vietnam. Appreciate any advice. Which online things I could do?. I guess A bit cautious and scared to probably step out of my comfort zone, we all have to Anyway, appreciate You and Mandy have an awesome.

When I went to the university in the late 1960's tuition was only about $300.00 p/semester plus the cost of books. So it was a huge bargain. My degree in agriculture economics allowed me to gain entry in the Peace Corps and work in the Amazon of Brazil. My life was changed forever and it was because of my university degree. Which lead to a life in the the travel business!

I totally agree with you! I got a couple of degrees, one in secondary education. I became a teacher and made such little money that I needed to have 3 jobs throughout 12 months. I decided to quit my teachers job and extend my firefighting job season. I was lucky because I only owed $15,000 when I graduated. I was lucky that I received grants while attending. I taught school 3 years and moved on. Throughout my high school education, adults were pushing me to attend college. After is all said and done, I feel it was a waste of time and money to me. I would advise students to look at alternative ways to make a living. There are plenty of ways to make way more than your parents.

Went into college (USA) right after high school. While in high school I was working for a tech company and was a tier 3 IT technician. When I went into college for networking security, IT and programming, I knew more than the professors. I wasn't learning anything new. I dropped out in the first semester when I proved a professor was wrong with how to handle an IT fix and got kicked out of the class for it. I put my computer, math and programming skills to the test and studied stocks and day trading for a year. I'm now successful enough to have paid off that dumb semester of college ($8k if anyone was wondering, for a SINGLE semester), paid off all my debt and have enough money in dividend stocks to live comfortably with my wife. College is a HUGE scam and I will not recommend it to my kids. You can learn everything you need to be successful and have a fulfilling life for free (or really cheap) online.
