    I've had my Paragon cover for a year locking mechanism is different on mine there is no long tube or handles to pull so your rails are usable I love it those tri-fold ones with the rubber the rubber rots out and then the material itself starts to delaminat its two pieces glued together. This is one solid piece of aluminum that has bent on both sides with return bends heavy gauge aluminum. Only a couple drops of water during heavy rainstorms just like John said, awesome cover and I'm a Aircraft sheet metal fabricator.

    I have this exact cover on my tundra (2017)... and after 5 years I HATE it, definitely going back to a soft rolling cover. 1) it leaks water at nearly every seam. 2) the rails overhang into the bed, and you have to be super careful not to bang them up. 3) It rattles like crazy when its folded up - especially bad if you try to roll down the back window... but it does look nice, and it is semi easy to remove the folding cover.

    • @TRDJon
      @TRDJon  Рік тому +1

      Oh yea I’d bet it would rattle like crazy. That’s why I’d just take it off if I was needing my bed.

      This is what happens when UA-camrs get things for free and have to promote expensive garbage. Imo Get a soft top Gator or Tyger Tonneau cover for about $230‐$250 with no water leaks when raining or in the car wash for way cheaper.

    Great video, thanks Jon! Ended up getting the Limited HDx as well for my 23’ SR5 TRD OR. Definitely think the pros outweigh the cons and would recommend the Peragon cover, especially if you need to remove the cover all the way and don’t want to drill into your truck for the cover install. I have noticed more water in the bed than I’d like, but I don’t think any tonneau will totally prevent water unless it’s a cover that goes over the edges of the bed.

    • @TRDJon
      @TRDJon  Рік тому +1

      Exactly. For what the cover is and how its put into place on the rails, I feel it actually does pretty good.

    Kinda surprised with how much water it let in the bed. Granted it’s not a lot overall, but one of the reasons people buy bed covers is to keep the weather out, as well as security. Years ago when I bought my old used Silverado it came with a hard lift up tonneau cover one piece and that obviously didn’t leak as it kind of wrapped the bed sides. I like the ones like here as they roll up or fold up, but I’m thinking maybe you have a warranty issue with the water being let in. Maybe the gasket/rubber on the sides of the cover? It does look great on the Tundra though that’s a fact!! Great video as usual appreciate it brotha!
    God bless~

    • @TRDJon

      Thanks. Maybe then. We will see what Peragon says. But I mean, nowhere on their site from what I see says they are water proof. Tbh is was barely any water and people are commenting like it was a flood in the bed lol. Still dryer then if I didn’t have the cover.
      Thanks for watching man! I appreciate

    • @KendrasEdge757
      @KendrasEdge757 Рік тому

      @@TRDJon oh yeah you’re right, I agree that’s not much at all and most came in when you opened the tailgate lol I don’t think any claim “weather tight”. I’d just look at that area where it’s dripping down from & see if anything looks off, probably not honestly as it’s really not much water. The right combination of rain and wind and it’s gonna get inside. Outside of those that wrap the bed and people buy the ones like this paragon because you almost can’t tell there’s a cover at all. My 15 F2FIDDY I traded on my 21 T4R ORP didn’t have any cover just the spray liner and when I’d drive off after a rain it sounded like a pool emptying with all the water leaving the bed lol this is almost nonexistent really.

      @peragonenterprises Рік тому +1

      @@KendrasEdge757 We do have customers that experience zero water intrusion but the cover is not designed to be 100% waterproof (no retractable cover is). The level of leaking can vary based on installation and general variances in trucks and climates but this installation look good and sets a realistic expectation of what you can expect!

    I’ve had a $230 Gator X soft roll up tonneau cover on my truck the past 3 years and not a drop of water gets into the bed even at the car wash. Sure it’s not as secure as a hard tonneau but it’s done a lot better than a lot of the pricier covers out there.

      @@TRDJonIt also looks great and works extremely well for the price! I'm sorry, but most us common folk will be looking for a bargain and something with great quality. You earned what you get, but please help the common folk 🙏

      @@TRDJon well that and it’s affordable, it doesn’t rattle driving along, it doesn’t take up bed space since it rolls up out of the way, it’s light so doesn’t add much weight, and has held up to snow/ice, dust-storms, and 100+ degree weather. Only con is it’s not as secure as a hard tonneau so I don’t keep anything valuable in the bed.

    My diamond back truck bed cover is rated to haul 1600 lbs and I now have it so that it is 99.9% water proof. Paid $2200 though 😅 soooo I definitely think the Peragon is a really solid choice for most. I just wanted to keep my inner bed bone dry and still be able to haul anything on top. The decked system sounds great (In theory) but it also feels like you sacrifice a lot of useable space just for the decked system itself.

    • @TRDJon
      @TRDJon  Рік тому

      @@TRDJonya that is the biggest downside for sure. They did just release a new variant that I believe is called the switchback that folds up, but then you lose the very impressive 1600lb load rating. Another simple fix is an adjustable cargo bar to prevent load shift when you don't need to utilize all of the bed space or a cargo hook to pull items forward when you do. This cover was designed to be as flexible and maintain as much bed space as possible which is why we opted against a mounted canister that would reserve the space needed to retract. Definitely important to understand how you want to use your bed and what features are most important to you!

Yea, of course. Even Peragon has 3 price points too. Just wanna leave options available for people.

    I had one on a Ram Truck a few years ago and it literally fell apart. It had sealed bearings on the ends, they would fall off. Then when you retracted it, it would get crooked and jam up. Rattled and flopped around. It got so bad, I had to remove it. Perhaps they improved it but when I saw you twist it to remove it I had bad flashbacks.

      @@TRDJon When it folds up and then you unclip the right side and then pull/twist the left side to get it out of the track. Mine would do that from the tail gate if it wasn't perfectly retracted. It would come out of the tracks. It lasted about 3 years. It was nice at the beginning but steadily began deteriorating. This was about 8 years ago, so hopefully they have improved the design and longevity. Keep up the hard work!
