- Tune in to the season premiere of The Good Doctor on Monday at 10/9c on ABC | Stream on Hulu.
I partnered up with ABC to watch the season 5 premiere of The Good Doctor to not only check in on the show’s medical accuracy, but to see what Dr. Shaun Murphy is up to. In this episode we take a look at HPV, cervical cancer, pap smears, Autism Spectrum Disorder, panic attacks, pregnancy, polycystic kidney disease, and getting married  . Let me know down in the comments what you think is going to happen this season!
I LOVE reading your comments and take your suggestions seriously. If there’s a subject you want me to discuss or something you’d like for me to react to, leave a comment down below. Many of my videos have been born out of suggestions directly from you, so don’t hold back!

Thanks for noticing

Well that's what people call fair critism not just trashing something.
@@michael04__806 Thanks for replying Mike
@@aman_01ahmad33 U r lucky 🥺🥺
“Have you always had fat ankles?”
“Rude!”
Applause to the writer who came up with that opportunity for comic relief 😂
The line right after it is really clever, too. "Only if the answer is 'yes'. If it's 'no', it's a symptom." Patients sometimes get offended from questions about drug usage, diet and exercise habits, and sexual activity, but those are things that doctors need to know sometimes.
@@Technotoadnotafrog good catch! Just goes to show how writers can also use a medical professional’s point of view improve our writing!✌️
Not sure why but the “whelmed” thing killed me lol. dr Mike’s little quirks are why he’s so loveable
Gabriel Union asked the same thing in 10 Things I Hate About You. 😂

"I know you can be overwhelmed and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?"
"I think you can in Europe."
He does look happy. U can see how his character seems more confident in being around others have grown. In the beginning his character was way more timid and shy outside of doing something medically. He couldn’t form bonds in the beginning but now u can see where that has changed. Back then I don’t think any of us could’ve predicted him being able to have a relationship physically, mentally or emotionally with someone but now look at him the character has truly grown. The actor and director is doing a great job in showing us this character development and portraying this character.
Doctor Mike’s “whelmed” comment reminded me of 10 Things I Hate About You! “I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?” “I think you can in Europe.” 😂🤣😂
I was thinking of Robin in Young Justice, he also makes a point of this ^^

HA! Came here to say this & checked the comments 1st just to see if anyone else said so first. Glad it's not just me! ;-)

I remember Cordelia saying that in one of the early season of Buffy. I think it was season 2. (but I COULD be misremembering. It's been awhile since I watched Buffy...also Bianca and (high school) Cordelia are very similar characters)
I love how he tries to analyse whatever is going on in the show and you can see the concentration as well as being able to laugh yet serious at different parts!
so you love how he has emotions and is commenting on a show. youll love the rest of youtube
Glassy is definitely one of my characters. He's sooo drunk in that scene, and he's got his own marital drama, and he's a little bit of a surrogate helicopter parent occasionally. But, I love him because he makes himself so accessible to Shaun. Stark contrast to the role Richard Schiff plays in Manhattan. BTW, I'd love to see your reaction to the episode right after this one.
What happened?
7:30 dr Mike going full Shaun mode
Ngl this was the best advert they possible could’ve gotten; can’t wait till it premieres.
Seriously though. I’ve only ever watched the first episode but here I am omw to go watch this episode 😂
@@MegaGustavoM The Good Doctor is a fabulous show, though. I highly recommend binging it all- they’re on S5 E3 at the moment.

Yes, I have a classmate who has autism and he HATES the firealarm he has a special teacher with him who talks to us in the beginning of the school year and teaches us about autism so that we can understand him better when the teacher told us how he hates loud sounds like the fire alarm for example Mimo (who is the student with autism) hear it and got stressed out bc just the thought of it is horrible i feel very bad because its loud for everyone else i cant imagine how annoying it must be for him!
I have autism too I get overwhelmed with noise I cover my ears until it's quiet or I go somewhere quiet to call someone to calm me down 👍
I have a daughter on the spectrum who is alot like this. She’s kind and compassionate but blunt, and socially awkward/anxious. If her life unfolds like this I’ll be the happiest person ever. I just want her to feel so loved and as amazing as I think she is.
I wish kids would be kind to her.
Rain is actually good luck because ropes are harder to separate when they are wet, so when you “tie the knot” it’s stronger!
Hello how are you doing hope you're safe over there ??
Interesting interpretation!
The knot ritual is done by Hindus
@@charulsahu I had no idea, I just heard it from someone else, that rain signaled good luck and for that reason.

I always loved this show, but love it more now because of your commentaries. You are always so excited and compassionate about the medical developments. You are so much fun to watch. You actually make me happy! Thank you!
It’s actually good luck if it rains on your wedding day. The rain washes away the past to grow a new future! ♥️🤓
His whelmed comment is straight 10 Things I Hate About You vibes. "I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you ever just be whelmed?" "I think you can in Europe!"
Also immediately thought of this and I just re-watched 10 things a couple days ago for the 50th time
It’s good luck for it to rain on your wedding day. Getting married is also called tying the knot. When a knot gets wet it’s harder to unravel.
hello 👏
Greetings from the Royal home 🏡🏠
LOL, yeah, it's good luck for the rain, but I'd still try to avoid getting hit by lightning. Like, get out of the freaking field, especially in a white dress. It went 80°, rain, hail, snow on my wedding day. I wasn't amused.
Hi, Doctor Mike. I don't know if you're watched the whole series already but I would love to see your reaction to season 4 episode 18 where Lea is doing surgery on Shaun.😬
Could you please do a video discussing ADHD? I feel like there's a lot of misunderstanding about it that doesn't get talked about enough and I resent when someone just tells me "just don't take your pills and find other ways to control the symptoms" when they don't understand how frustrating the world is without them
I agree, ADHD is not just you consciously not liking it, it's a chemical imbalance in the brain!
3:57 "whelmed" actually used to be a word, it meant the same as "overwhelmed"
Im so glad watching this series just a month ago because of Dr. Mike, and I have been so excited for the next season, now it just dropped, Im Speachless.
What happened at the wedding? What did he say?
this hits different now
I work in a clerical role in Interventional Radiology (though hopefully starting university to train as radiographer later this year) and coil embolisations are so amazing to me. Where I work does a lot in the brain.
Doctor Mike’s sweats giving out the amount of excitement this show has. Can’t WAIT!!
I was just checking to see if anyone would mention the pit stains lol
I was a groomsman in a wedding where my two good friends were getting married and it just broke out into a full on storm and we all got soaked and even took some awesome rain/thunder/lightning wedding photos. They are the most easygoing couple I know and couldn’t be more in love even after all these years. I’m going with good luck!
cant believe mike saw the surgeon meme a whole year ago😭
I'm a student veterinary nurse (UK) and was just thinking it would be cool if u reacted to a veterinary reality TV show to see the differences and similarities between human and animal health care. Ive not been able to find anyone that's done this before and I think it would be cool 🥰 xx
Hopefully when you graduate, you could be the first who reacts to vet shows
Seeing Doctor Mike sweat like that, makes me feel a lot better 😂 I sweat like a Hippo in heat

A medical TV show that would be great for you to review next is Doc Martin, it's a British comedy drama, he is a GP (family medicine Doctor same as you), the show is medically accurate, and to top it off it is hilarious.
I love Doc Martin! He's actually a vascular surgeon, but he develops haemophobia (fear of blood), which is why he took a job in a village.
Even Holby city
@@zlatan_2197 he's still a GP isn't he.
@@almasomerville1070 Well he's not, it's not the same, I mean either way they are medical doctors, but those are different specialities. But it's not too important since he essentially took the job of a gp when he accepted the job in a village

KUDOS to the editor for Dr. Mike's prediction of surgery hahaha ❤❤🙌🙌 7:25
Interesting and candy wait for the next season ...
And it's so great seeing how Dr Mike still trying to explain even the surgical part...
Wow, I'm really happy that you are being sponsored by ABC! ❤️ That's huge! Especially given the fact that you always loved the show and you were always unbiased, even before this happened. Congrats, Dr. Mike!
I appreciate this video!
It's not a total spoiler for anything that's to come but at the same time, it gives me enough to decide whether or not I want to watch this new season
I started watching this show when I found out my son has autism. This show and Dr. Mike's comments about autism makes me hopeful that my son will have a 'normal' life in the future. ❤️
I have autism and i must say it Really depends on how Self Aware he is or will end up being, I'm very self aware and when I have conversations with people who don't know me, I know to be more animated and speak with more inflection and to put things in a way that sounds charismatic and affable, even though I wouldn't emote like that if I were genuine. Most of the other autistic people I know my age, are incapable of this, some of them I'm afraid they don't even know what they really look like visually, let alone how they come off emotionally to everyone else. If they seem to have problems with their awareness I wouldn't suggest you approach it like "copying the people around you" whuch implies he expresses himself wrong, because it's more about learning to FINALLY express yourself, we're kind of trapped in our own heads and have alot to say, we just don't know how to say it or get people to understand, mimicking social cues should be a way to easily get across our feelings, not "blend in"
who else waited to watch because they didn't want spoilers lol. Dr.Mike, I am a female with Asperger's syndrome, ADHD, and integrative sensory processing. I graduated June 10th, 2021 from high school and I started college and I love it. I am studying to become an RN then I will transfer to become a BSN (bachelors in nursing) and then I plan to transfer to med school to become a doctor. Nurses run the hospital and with nursing experience and knowledge under my wing, I believe I will make an outstanding doctor. The good doctor has been so inspiring to me and I absolutely love your channel and Mama Dr. Jones you guys genuinely inspire me to be more curious than I already am which is extremely

Haven't watched The Good Doctor in a while, but this seems really exciting!! You've covered so many important topics here - including importance of HPV, Pap smears and preventing cervical cancer. Kidney pathology like nephrotic syndrome, FSGS, amyloid - really interesting stuff! Thanks for reviewing, and I think I'll be bingeing this soon and try to figure out all the diagnoses 😉
After the premiere. Would it be possible for you to do a full episode review?
I'm unable to access abc in my country and I would love to see the whole storyline/plot of this episode.
yeah it kinds sucks with the stuff that were left out
Yes PLEASE!
You can get a VPN or, in some countries like Australia, it is on other channels in those countries
Where can I watch it if I don't have the ABC app?
Just use vpn! Ppl from authoritarian countries have been doing it for years
I want to know Mike’s reaction to the reason the patient was being seen. I also wish he had talked more about her erratic behavior and the surgical resident being taken off the biopsy for letting the patient wander off.
I've never watched this show before and you made this episode in such a way that it REALLY makes me want to watch it 😂 so many things I mUST KNOW!!!!
4:02 whelmed. I saw a tiktok with that, just fine, whelmed, not over not underwhelmed🤣🤣
I don't know why but this episode made me feel emotional because as a 26 year old woman, I'm have constant anxiety about child birth & if I'm able to. I'm getting treated for a uti but that fear is always there.
I waited to watch the episode and then come to watch the video and OMG!!! Dr. Mike, you chose the best moments to tell everybody to go watch the actual show. IT WAS FANTASTIC!!!
I love this video with the non spoiler, also the reactions makes me feel like I were with him there so exited at the moment he react! this was gold hahah!

Doctor Mike's integrity, I'm here for that ❤
Bruh the thumbnail change 💀 I love his editors
I just found your videos the other day... and I am hooked. You're so down to earth, and tell it like it is. I'm old enough to be your mother... but, I am in love.... You're great !!!
Omg this is crazy amazing! Im so excited for this new episode! Thank you for giving us these small moments. I think tht thunderous beginning was just Leah’s bad dream.
And glassy is just drunk becoz he thinks he’s gonna lose Shaun
I'm no medical expert, but doesn't the usage of umbrellas during a lightning storm increase the risk of a rapid deterioration of ones health?
Lightning is complicated. But in their case, I'd say no. They are surrounded by trees, which are higher and are much more likely to be hit by lightning than their umbrellas.
right?!
@@AntonSuprun from someone who was almost hit by lightning a couple of times, whilst standing in or near the protection (I thought) of a building, I completely disagree...
@@tekvax01 Almost means you weren't struck, so I'm not sure how that's an argument against. And they said the trees are more likely to be struck, not that their umbrellas were completely safe.
watching Dr. Mikes reactions when they bleeped out the scenes lmao
Thank you Dr. Mike. I am absolutely going to start describing my mood to people as “whelmed.”
I literally screamed “yes, thank you Jesus” but I guess I just have to thank Dr.Mike for uploading a great video once again!!
AT the 9:59 minute mark, Dr. Mike lifts up his arms and his armpits are wet with armpit sweat. I'm surprised it wasn't edited out.
Omg, this feels so surreal seeing Dr Mike talk about Nephrotic Syndrome/FSGS. I have FSGS and had a kidney transplant two years ago, unfortunately for me it re-occured in my transplanted kidney and I am currently at 9% eGFR. I am due to go back onto dialysis in the next couple weeks. I have been binge watching Dr Mike videos for a couple months now and it feels amazing to see him discuss more into my condition which affects thousands of people worldwide. Keep up the great vids! 23 years old from the UK.
My two sons and myself have ASD. I had high hopes when this series started and it never disappoints. I also do a running commentary along the show to point out errors. lol
I seriously love your work. I want to become a doctor, so I usually watch your videos to learn, but mostly just because you make my day.
9:27 someone call House! It's not sarcoidosis!
I love watching doctor Mike explain things so clearly. I’m using some of the info I’m learning for a book
Doctor Mike always makes my day better, and also I learn so much as a student who wants to become a doctor❤️❤️
This is the 2nd time this week I’ve heard someone argue that whelmed should be a word, and it just makes me think of this exchange from 10 Things I Hate About You:
Chastity: “I know you can be overwhelmed, and you can be underwhelmed, but can you just be whelmed?”
Bianca: “I think you can in Europe.”
The ritilan one was odd to me too. Usually adults with ADHD have been on their medication for a looong time and side effects won’t be visible unless they recently stopped and restarted it, or if the does has been changed. At least in my experience I can’t speak for all cases
I know this is old, but that whelmed joke was made in an early episode of Young Justice. Robin (as in Batman's Robin) says, "You're either underwhelmed or overwhelmed. Why is no one ever just, whelmed?" Then, for the rest of the show (which is still going on btw), mostly in the first 2 seasons, characters will say, "Stay whelmed."
But yeah, great reaction and breakdown as usual.
I need to start watching this show again- I stopped at around the beginning of Season 2, But now I’m just intrigued-
"Second most accurate medical drama". Okay, hold the front door there. The way they do rounds and assess a patient is balls to the walls insane. "Your ankles are fat?". No one did a physical exam and noticed the large ankles? Frothy urine and no one said, "Hmm, that might be version of nephrotic syndrome of some sort?".
Well, I would assume he meant second most accurate in terms of all the medical drama he has seen. So the accuracy is relative to other shows.
What's number one on the list then?
🤣
@@alwayshani he’s done a video on that

I have been diagnosed with Aspergers a few years ago, I can fully agree to the initial statement about autism. Especially when I am already stressed, I get panic attacks from sudden loud noises (although I never get shocked by anything), as it is painfully loud and my thought sort of stagnate. I can't go to clubs, and when partying with friends I have to use earplugs or ask them to turn the volume down if I am around
I LOVE this show. I can't wait to see the new episodes of The Good Doctor every week.
I'm glad you're getting sponsored to do this episode (you literally deserve all of the rewards of your hard and important work) but I (and maybe more people) watch these "Doctor Reacts" for your opinion on the show. Both medical facts and honest reactions to the absurdness of a medical drama. This, to me, was honestly not nearly as enjoyable to watch because of the "find out what happens on the premiere" stuff. I want to see your response to the show's plot points, medical accuracy, or reactions to a diagnosis. After this episode, I know almost nothing... and I always viewed that as the point of these. Just my opinion though and I know that might mean almost nothing.
I'm not saying any of this as a hater. You deserve all the success. Whatever works for you, keep doing it! I'm just being honest about probably not spending my future video retention time on another reacts video set up like this.
Nailed it! I don't watch any of the shows he reacts to - I just enjoy watching them get corrected by a professional.
Same! It was very frustrating and I’m not going to watch the show just bc of this video when I wasn’t planning on it already 😩
Same here. I definitely appreciate Dr. Mike getting much deserved sponsorship, but this seemed like a scripted hype session for a show. Not really looking for that sort of thing from this channel. Just my opinion.
Same +1. ;/
This isn't a Dr.Mike video, it's an Advertisement by ABC to promote the new season, they probably paid alot but also asked them to censor stuff in order to hype people up to watch the actual season premier

Idk why but binge-watching Dr Mike makes me want to try once again to pursue medical career. I wanted to be a pathologist but because of my messed up family situation, I developed a lot of anxiety and high stress level which made me do really poorly on my finals. I will try to find and pick up my Campbell when I visit my mum's place next time.

The fact that you said Nephrotic Syndrome blew my mind. When my brother was around 4, he started swelling up badly. We went from Dr. to Dr. and nobody could figure this out. It took going to Vanderbilt on Sep, 11, 2001 (that is where I was that day) before he was actually diagnosed. For you to casually mention it is mind blowing to me. Makes me like watching you even more.
