I have a problem that I was curious if you could give some advice on. I have a 2006 CLS500, and from what I have gathered the ignition is locked up on it. I want to see what your opinion is. One day I took the car to the store, parked it, and shut it off. When I came back out, I put the key in the ignition and started it up. As soon as it started up, a rapid clicking started to occur from the left side of the dashboard. I immediately shut off the car. After that I could never get the key to even turn in the ignition. Also, the lock sound that I always heard when putting the key in the ignition went away. Also, the car has a smart key and has the push button start on the gear shifter. The car has been sitting for a year now, and I have never been able to find anyone that can give me a straight answer on what went wrong or how to fix it. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
Hi from Spain! very god job! I have got the same issue and my question is, you only have welded over the old welding points? or you have remove all the old welding points before, and re weld them from new points?
Renewing the old welding points should be enough my friend. Just make sure to check as best as you can the electrical components as well. Thanks and Good Luck!
You are talking about the same thing my friend. EIS means Electronic Ignition Switch or otherwise known as Ignition lock. Unless you mean the mechanism which locks the Steering wheel then it's something completely different. Remember the EIS unlocks the steering wheel mechanism. So you go in line of the working order and in this case is 1 EIS then 2 Lock. Thanks 👍
@@projectathosokay thank you.. I’m getting a P2001 N73 EIS code. So I’m going to try and attempt to do what you do in this video. I’m hoping I can repair and not have to go through dealer and new key…
First I Thought my key is bad but I got another key to work and still have issues. So now I think EIS is bad. Solders look very good but can they still be bad? I don't know what to do next, MB is too expensive to me 🥺
@@projectathos Coil that power key does not have voltage so I think eis has to be bad or it doesn't get correct intake voltage. I try to find fuse and eis pinout and voltages.
You need to check your voltage from the main battery and the secondary battey! If they are bad you need to replace them! The secondary is on the passenger side of the engine next to the firewall under the cabin dust filter. After these if you get power you need to use a scanner to connect to the OBD Plug and scan the car. Whatever codes you have you need to erase them and try after that to start again. If you cannot turn the steering wheel you might want to check the EIS or Electronic Ignition Switch because the lock is connected to it. Let me know if you need other help... Thanks
Yea it does. You just need to twist it a little bit and it will come out. Done this many times and on other models too... You are not going to see what you are doing but you can feel with your hands... It looks complicated but it's not... I don't post things that cannot be done or don't work... Thanks 👍

@@OriolBPhotographyFilmna I wouldn't think that would be the issue all the time.
What was it please.
@@dashtyATG In my case was the starter motor. Change it and running again!
Great video 👍🏻
Thanks 👍
I’ve been trying to figure out if it’s the ignition lock here or my eis… is there anyway to tell between them??

When you soldered them… do you mean just adding more metal wire to the existing ones? Can you explain how you solder them?? Please

It could be the EIS but you may need you problem to bw diagnosed at a professional shop to try to find the actual problem... Thanks👍

Did you fixed the issue sir?
Sounds like a bad key
There’s no way that switch came out under the dash..
