Just to help everyone out, since they don't explain exactly where the screw is, that you need to remove to get the aluminum bracket off. Once you remove the cluster, there are a number of screws that are visible. Those aren't the screw you need to remove. The screw you need to remove isn't visible. It's a T25 and it's about 4 inches back and straight down, about half inch to inch down, on the right side of where the cluster would be. I used a T25 extension with a ratchet attachment. Wasn't pretty but it got the job done. It's just one screw. Once you remove the bracket, the EIS is relatively easy to remove. The 3 cables are pinch locked, so don't just snatch them out. Hope this helps a bit more, since they don't explain every step. The video is helpful, so I'm not complaining.
@@keveonbarnes6264 You can use 1 flat head. Place the flat head inside the ring, not inside where the actual key fob goes, but in the space around the ring and tap the side of the screwdriver, as close to the part you inserted, counter clockwise. I just used the back of another screw driver. Depending on how hard the ring is tightened, it should loosen. It may not work for everyone, but it's how I got mine off of this and my C300. No sense in spending $30 when you can use a tool you already have.
I tried following the procedure given in this video but am stuck trying to remove the two smaller electrical connectors - one blue and one black. I notice that the author of this video did use a screwdriver to push out the blue connector @ 6:54... but not sure what exactly he did. Also he is able to pull the EIS all the way out to make it easy to work on ... but I am not able to pull it out that far out and have to crawl under the dash to work on it. Any suggestions welcome.
Would be nice if you explained which screws to remove for the bracket. Easy enough to remove the cluster, but since there's no dialogue, which screws inside do you remove to remove the aluminum bracket?
There's other way of doing this. Remove stereo, then cut some plastic between stereo and EIS until EIS can be pushed to the stereo opening. Also not easy, but not too hard with right tools (I removed plastic bit by bit with small vise grips - that's all I had available at the moment).
What type of wrench / setup is used to remove the torx screw? Also how far in the dash ? Behind the hump on right side of dash ? Just can’t find it . Any help or advice is appreciated
Hii guys, one question. Can I use EIS and a key from facelifted model and program them into the car computer? Mine is w211 from 2003. pre-facelift. The only reason for eis "upgrade" is the ability to add keyless go, push button start and remote startup with your phone and an app.
Hey have a question my ignition gave out steering is locked. If I get one of eBay with key does it need to be program or once installed I’m good to go? Pls lmk Thx in advance
Great video! Do you know which steps are needed to replace the temperature sensor next to ignition? Can it be done either through the top or bottom. Do I need to unscrew anything or does it just click off? Thanks
DIY love Hi, thanks for reviewing my video. But I am Locksmith, and I only do keys, and this tutorial is only for my customers to bring more business. Try to search, you will definitely find it.
I removed the cluster with the battery still connected got out the Eis and programmed new keys no problem but when I reconnected the cluster it’s dead if any one could help me correct this situation it would be greatly appreciated
Hi great video. please help: If I want to remove just the chrome ring of a W211 E220 from 2005? How to do? I mean the actual is broke and I have already the new one glues to black plastic cover.
why this guy popped the clocks is beyond me. If you have a 2002 / 2003 E220 E270 E320 etc you only need to remove the 3 star screws on the plate above the pedals down below and get a thin flat blade screw driver to unscrew the ignition surround (the round housing that the key goes into). put the screw driver in the middle ring and turn anti clockwise to unscrew it. then reach up from below and gently pull it down. there are 3 awkward cables to remove from EIS switch whilst inside the dash . so easy.
The Bee Guru's Apprentice European version doesn't have aluminum braket and it makes it a lot easier to remove, but here in USA we have it, and the only way to remove it is after removing the cluster.
In USA we have aluminum bracket and it does not allow you to remove eis, but after we remove it, we don't install it back so anybody after will get eis in 2 minutes.

To all of you
Once you remove the bracket you have to move the air conditioner duct out of the way t
So what's the best way to replace the ignition switch without programming
There is no such thing as to replace EIS without programming

On my E 200 aprox 2007 (W211.007) it was as you describe. And that car was sold in Germany.
How much do you charge to fix the ignotion switch ?
Namibia you have to be more specific, make model and year of your car?
How much do you guys charge to rebuild these and whats the warranty and turnaround time? Thanks!
We charge $200-300 to clone EIS to the new one, we don’t fix them mechanically
