For some reason I randomly run into this guy in NYC at least once a year.
chiangui24 good for you
@@ostensible7197 good for him
Or her
say Hi from me

He's doing what he loves, so even tho he's tired and busy, he's happy and fulfilled.
Man is that a crazy schedule. Questo is a Machine
Yep
yo whaddup nate
You not kidding. It’s busy but it’s the dream. I love his drumming, his subtleties with is snare and hats gets me all the time. I’m thinking about buying his signature Ludwig breakbeats kit and putting triggers on it with Roland TM-6 pro. That way if I need to make that 16” BD sound like a 26” it’s possible, throw Gates in everything for an 80’ flavor, or just layer the snare to get w/e I need. The it’s Roland so it will have any percussion thing I could ever need want, and import user samples backing tracks if need be
That snare is so freakin crisp
Yh
Always keeps it so clean and in the pocket, much respect for what he's doing.
You can't hold no groove if you ain't got no pocket.
You're always welcomed in Warsaw, Poland 😍
Nothing but respect for this man. Hard work ethic & one of the best drummers in our generation
hey, questlove's in the house.
The Imperial Combine Questlove, you're not in the house
@@ohtoo225 You're nowhere
He makes it look so easy omg..
That's because what he's playing IS FUCKING EASY, LOL watch a guy called FlO MOUNIER
+Ryan stone *facepalm*
Don't be angry cos you can't sustain blast beats bruh
Aleksey Sky-Daziel go play jazz and we’ll see how you’ll do. It’s always so pathetic to see metal drummers (or metal guitarists and bassists) shit on other genres of music JUST because it’s not filled with blast beats and are not played at full speed.
Aleksey Sky-Daziel a lot of times drumming is subtle and a drummer doesn’t feel the need to show off their skills. That’s because you need to COMPLIMENT the music, not play all over it. Christ.
Gotta look up to this man, with all the hip-hop drumming he did with The Roots and now on Jimmy Fallon he shows off how many styles of music he can really do.
Questlove is one of my favorite drummers!! ❤😊😍 🤩
All songs featured because I love The Roots and everybody needs to know their shit: 0:07 The Roots - The Fire, 1:49 - The Roots - Rollin with Heat, 4:40 - The Roots - Seed (2.0)
thank you :)
He's the perfect example of how keeping it simple can take you far. Straight pocket.
Is that a Vic Firth brand comb in his hair? damn, throw a mic on that comb. Its probably groovin too
Hahahh
Does a great job as a director/leader and drummer - loved the show he did with Fallon and Daryl Hall, playing all the Hall and Oats hits....Love the Roots!!!
Had the pleasure of meeting & being on stage with quest and the roots a few weeks ago. This brotha is too cool for words. Talk about being gifted!
He's such a genuine person! love it. True musician with class and talent.
Vic Firth,
Thank you for sharing this interview from such an amazing artist. I often share these interviews with students to launch discussions. This spotlight interview has several gems embedded for focusing thoughtful discussion: professionalism, mastery of an instrument, self-motivation, and work ethic, etc.
Happy New Year!
So when did he say he sleeps?
He doesn't...
Ike Ukazu on stage
He’s probably sleep walking....
Questo is the shit! best hip-hop drummer out! Such great rhythms, solid groove, timing and an all round gun!
Love his drumming and his sticks the only ones I use!!!!! Continue to be an inspiration to us up and comers trying to get where you are!!! God Bless!!!!!
Quest is GREAT because he understands that speed and fancy fills don't make you a good drummer, but that a solid mental groove will.
Youre a Bad Man Questlove!! Respect and Love my Man!! Peace
loved it. i am so great full that after a hiatus from drums.. i now switched to Vic firth and loving it and just got the questlove breakbeats by Ludwig and cant get over how much punch and tone they have. oh and the vic firth felt beater sounds great with the kit.
thanks
dude quest you the man... i see eye to eye with this man...
Love it great positive energy
Love this artist. ♥ ♪♫♪
this guy is a total inspiration...
Man NOTHING ON QUEST AGES but his pockets😂😂😂! ! His hair, his looks even his Afro stays in pocket. I’m a singer and I feel like me and #QuestLove could make a solo with no other instrument but his drums and my voice.
100% respect
Music is literally his lifeee
so much envy and respect for this dude
I got one of Questlove's Vic Firths when he threw that up in the air after a show in Myrtle Beach back in the early 00s. Grabbed that shit like it was a jump ball back in High School. Dice Raw called me out during the show for yawning 😳
Respect, Peace & Love
?uestlove! Keep it funky-
I look up to Questlove because of his knowledge of 'beats'. He has to be one of the top ten grooviest drummers of all time. Bought up in the right environment and music. Oh and that afro :)
Wow. I could never do that. I could work 10 hours a day with maybe one-two free days a week, but 14 hours a day, and THEN socializing? That guy's crazy. Respect!
Love how they show Eminem when he's talking about Springsteen.
Best drummer in hip hop!
top drummer qwest love
His free time doesn't even constitute a full night of sleep lmao
This guy is awesome.
thats amazing, i had no idea so much goes into that!
Questlove is the coolest person alive. I said it.
One of the coolest dudes alive
as a professional drummer and all the responsibilities... attitude towards what has to be done... how to deal with it, get it done, and maintain enjoyment of it all by simply "doin what you gotta do"
What a cool guy.
They definitely still create original music, and they already toured beyond 5+ amazing original albums for at least a decade. Road life is hard to keep up, it's not as glamorous as it's made out to be.
The Fire By the Roots with John Legend, off the album How I Got Over
@ Jei Azul -- the song is The Seed 2.0 by The Roots. The Roots - The Seed (2.0) ft. Cody ChesnuTT
Legendary poscket drummer right here.......Fills dont mean SHIT!!! Get that metronome game up....WORD!!! QUEST is a musical genius!!
Great video. I just wish we could have heard Black Thought's mic. We need all the freestyles we can get from that man!
Respect man! SICK FLOW
SICK!!!!!
Wow…. Such a professional
wow for any body who loves music that is the ultimate dream life
These are legitimately great sticks. The length and weight and taper make them crack like whips. Super fast around the kit. Make me put my Oak 5B trees away. Don't lose much power because the length is leverage. Very light attack on the cymbals with those small tips.
Living the dream.
would love to play with questlove someday
DREAM JOB !
inspirational.
Cool kick sound!
How cool would it be to be in The Roots? Fuck, man. That would be heavy.
I'm pretty sure he would suggest you get your own, just like I should, working on my own thang instead of drooling listening to him... but yeah that's quite the dream life.
gosh he is so tight.
It is Seed (2.0) by the Roots
It's called "The Fire".. which is off their "How I Got Over" album..
Seems like a genuinely cool guy.
What are the other sticks that he's using in the background? The weird rod/spatula combo things?
Dayve Cares I would also like to know
It called a drum brush they have a softer sound than sticks
Love the roots. Do you sing? Your dad Lee Andrews was an awesome singer and entertainer.
This I love
Ehhhhhh. I suppose you're right. Though, I still "want" his life... I don't necessarily "need" it. He is definitely living the drummer's dream! Working his ass off, too. I dig it.
but its not like they're gonna be on the show forever. and they still work on their music when they're not doin anything for the show. The Roots wont ever quit.
He and The Rev (of Avenged Sevenfold) are 👌 amazing talents.
Real talk thats my cat. God Bless you doc....
They aren't spatula things, they're his regular sticks, just the weird way they edited the video, makes them look sorta split.
It just HAS to be that comb in his hair
what are those drumsticks that keep showing up in the left side of the overhead shoits, that look like elongated kitchen untensils?
what's the cymbal he using on the left? is it two cymbal together? it's really bugging me that I can't find out what it is
I pulled of the rubber, it made my fingers blister.. also bought them naturel but the whites are better without the rubber, i like the Lacquer finish on them.
@straightaheadable Those are actually his sticks! They tripped me out for a while too
When im older i wanna drum just like ?uestlove!!!
Questlove seems like a really great dude. Anybody hear the podcast with Aisha Tyler talking to him? :)
im not sure .I'm looking. but i'll prob make a loop out of it and post .just incase anyone wants to drop their own accupella remix stuff behind it.
Tight drummer right here
that snare is tight!
I know they're Paiste...Looks hand hammered too.
The Roots & John Legend - The Fire
Mann, hearing Questlove's schedule makes me exhausted!!! haha
yup
that's you jbl set up stink dude!
his kit sound great!
4:35 That's some nice damping on these toms
At 4:15 that right there is a handsome band ✨💫
Anyone know what model Yamaha snare he's using throughout the video?
What is the name of the song in the first part of the video. Plz reply :-) !
*****
Thanks man :-)
I WANT HIS FUCKING JOB !!! LUCKY DUCK !!
The Seed (2.0) by The Roots. Good shit. In fact, one of the best kinds of shit there is!
What's the song used at the start of the video? Sounds really cool.
It's a hi hat he made with crash cymbals
dude that stack/tambourine thing is awesome! anybody knows what cymbals?
Quest If you ever need an understudy hit me up. I got you brother
