I appreciate it! I'd rather understand why I'm doing something than just performing the steps. I think you'll like the next video I'm working on - making a Hammond organ sound in Vital. I should have it ready in the next few days or so!
Oh good, glad to hear that helps! I was hoping that zooming would make it easier to follow, especially for those who watch these videos on small screens...
Thank you for your videos using Vital. It's been a big help to me. Please keep them coming! I enjoy your music as well and have subscribed. Best of luck to you.
At 2:12 you say "select envelope 2" but earlier in the video you'd already used envelope 2 to make the plucky sound. I did wonder if you meant to use envelope 1 but used envelope 2 by mistake. Is that what happened? This left me a bit confused.
I looked at the video and see the confusion. At 1:54 I was setting the shape of the amplitude envelope (envelope 1 by default), but you see Envelope 2 is selected. Then, you hear the effects of the amplitude change after changing the envelope. Then, at 2:18, you see it snap back to the default shape when I click on Env 2. I'm not sure what happened here; this could have been a bug in an earlier version of Vital, but most likely this was an error in my video editing. What I said was correct, but the visuals were a little confusing. That's a good catch! What I was trying to say is to first adjust the amplitude envelope (Envelope 1) to start the pluck sound (even though the video showed Env 2), and then modulate the filter cutoff with Envelope 2 to further enhance the pluck. You could also use the same envelope for both if you prefer. Thanks for pointing that out!
Great question! Here's a few reasons you might want to try this: 1. If you don't want to or are not yet ready to spend the money for the more authentic sounds you can get from the Korg VST. 2. You're ok with a less authentic sound but would like more freedom to manipulate the sound in various ways at a fundamental level. 3. You want to practice sound design and have a better understanding of how to build a sound up from the basics.
@@idlethoughtsmusic fair points! Always practice sound design. I was just being edgy because this popped up in my feed right after I bought the m1 plugin Lol
@@idlethoughtsmusic I got it for the m1 house piano and other old piano sounds, pretty solid. Haven't even looked at the bass presets yet but now I'll have to give it a look
Excellent job! I love how you walk through it straight no chaser, no fluff no filler just solid grade A+! Thanks!
Thanks! That's what I was going for. Glad you liked it!
Thanks, that`s exactly what I was looking for!
Glad I could help!
Thanks! This is a very helpful guide
Glad to hear it!
Again: Thank you for the wonderful Tutorial!
I love the clean and straightforward way you're sharing your knowledge!
Very good tutorial! I like how you talk about the intensions behind the steps, instead of just going through all of them.
Instant sub.

Looking forward to it!

Excellent! wanna see more Arp or sequence sound with vital or surge XT
Great idea! I have a few videos in the works, but I'll add that to the list.
@@idlethoughtsmusic Thanks 🙏

Thanks, glad to help and appreciate the support! I do have more Vital videos on the way, the next one is coming soon!
Thank you for making this video learned a lot from this!! Can you show us how the bass from memory reboot by Narvent was done?
Glad you found it useful! That one shouldn't be too bad - I'll see if I can throw something together when I get a chance. Thanks for the feedback!

@@idlethoughtsmusic I thought that's what it was.
why would you do this instead of using the korg m1 vst?!

How are they? I haven't tried those yet. I imagine they're pretty useful.
