BYOB - Bring Your Own Bombs. A political song regarding the government and going to war in Iran/Iraq/Afganistan and the lies they told us as to why.
I believe alternating between cool party time and angry chaos is supposed to represent what the military tells you war is and what war is actually like. Like "you'll be a hero and you get cool guns!" vs "we got a man down! where did the shot come from! medic!"
Nope, the party times refere to high class enjoying good time meanwhile low class (poors) fighting and enduring/suffering war.

I've really enjoyed your reactions. You clearly know how to listen to music. When this came out it was obvious what it was about, but it is certainly oblique enough that without the context it isn't clear. This was a protest song about the Iraq War, that is why we are blowing up the desert. It was a war that we sent a small percentage of the population to fight while the rest of us stayed home and were told if we didn't shop the terrorists would win. (And, of course, the terrorists weren't actually from Iraq).

The fact that this song is so deep, yet so many people don’t understand what they are singing about pisses me off. If u thought it means “Bring Your Own Beer” u are lost. It is “Bring Your Own Bombs”. Meaning everyone who came to the “oil party” in the Middle East. Hence “why don’t Presidents fight the war? Why do they always send the poor?”. Lost on so many.
The song war pigs by black sabbath that has a few lines in it that remind me a lot of byob.
My first time watching your reaction and its ok but I suggest to do a bit of research either before or after a song so you guys can have a better understanding of the lyric, but overall you guys did a good job capturing the main message. I still remember when this song came out back in mid 2000's when US went to war with Iraq. I would say system of a down is anti-war they sent so many messages they were against it.
BYOB many people gave it different meaning like:
Build your own bombs // Bring your own bombs // Bring your own bottles // Be your own boss // and some other, I cant remember but the "real" meaning is Bring Your Own Booze.

There music and albums were great now try Ariel’s and then Old School Hollywood which is one of my favorite songs for them but I like all of their songs a lot though and BYOB is like Stairway to Heaven in my mind where I remember all the words to this song as well like I do that song also

The saddest thing about that band for me is that they broke up way to early they were an awesome band with a great sound for me and like the second last great rock band ever. For me it was them and Disturbed from this era right behind Led Zeppelin of course
