I picked this Gospel VHS up at a Thriftstore, sóme 25 years ago. This VHS is óne of my most treasured item(s) on this Earth. There were so many Spiritual Being at this meeting for the Lord that would never be dupiciate. They, Stuck together over the years, and came amighty long ways, for these precious moments. Just to show us, "What God can do". As Brother Tommy Dorsey sanged "How about you" Amen.😊😇

Oh my gosh, I remember all of this. We had consecration services and we all had to wear white during these conventions. I am a Dorsey kid and grew up at these conventions. I remember so many of these people.
I am reliving these moments. I know a lot of these people. I'm from CT and I grew up with Bishop Kenneth Moales children and he went to school with my uncle.
"when i look back-from whence i came"! Glory to God for traveling with me all of this way and NEVER leaving me, over 45 years now. even when i left Him-and tried to go back into the world- He followed me, protected me in my sin's, and brought me back to Himself because of His unfailing love that He has for me! Im grateful to the True and living God, and i"ll serve Him until i die, and even in my stumbling and falling, i"ll keep getting back up and going on as long as He holds my hands and leads me on! Thank God for His great love and mercy that He has for His people-as well as the whole of mankind!

What a diamond piece that I never knew existed...I don’t even where to start...the pianist, Dr Dorsey, the lady who sang, the grown man who fell to pieces as soon as she mentioned his deceased father...so many incredible moments in a short 20 minute video 💙💙
I viewed this documentary yrs regarding Mr. Thomas A. Dorsey, RIP. Iam reminded of the elders who where housed @ the Layton Home (no longer in existence) I volunteered there. My elders would share their stories of past events pain & victories. Glory to GOD for the enlightment of the vibrant & frailty of their lives. They loved the Lord. So rewarding.

Brought back wonderful memories of my first encounter with a church so different from my upbringing - when visiting my oldest brother in Fort Bragg NC, on Sunday morning, my dad took us for a long drive through the rolling hills. Suddenly we heard this joyful music and came upon this little church. Having been raised in a very ‘proper’ , or as Andreá Crouch used to say, “the first church of the Frigidaire,” I fell in love with my brethren of darker skin tone than us. Needless to say, they embraced us with love, joy and music! I was a mere six years old - seventy years ago now, but I’ve never forgotten the impact that little foot stomping, hand clapping , lovely church had on my life. I’m reminded of a Scripture in Acts17:26-28 [26] And hath made of ONE BLOOD ALL {{NATIONS /ethnicity )} of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation; [27] That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: [28] For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. Ain’t that the truth 😭😭 my church (we baptist as well) didn’t use no drums back in the day. They used a pipe organ, sometimes a Hammond and an upright piana!! We didn’t need all that extra noise to have church
I saw this documentary on TV in honor of Dr. Dorcey and this whole beautiful family of Christ serving people when they were all living. "But the Lord made a way". Today the disease of playing a Christian making money in Jesus name is disgusting. One fashion show after another.
Churchs were respected so well back in the early 1980's but today 2021 there are majority worldly people in the church and not more than 5 mins of an hour or two is the lords name and gods way of living is mentioned

I was a Dorsey kid. Attended these as a teenager. My last convention was 1981 when it was in New Orleans. Miss this kind of worship and gathering and conventions so much. I believe they are still convening every year, as the chapter I was a part of in CT still attends. But I'm sure it is wayyyyyyyyy different now than it was back then. I believe it's more a fashion show now. So many great musicians and songwriters came out of these conventions. I can remember Ted Thomas, Carol Antrum from Philly, Malcolm Speed from St. Louis, MO and so many other great songwriters and singers like Rodney Posey from Cincinnati, OH. I used to have the sheet music of the songs we sang and even registration badges, but I no longer know where they are.

@@olcam6071 Did you attend any of the conventions? I did as a teenager. I stopped going in 1981. I know and have seen a lot of these people. I remember Geneva Gentry. I was from the Connecticut Chapter. One year I traveled with the chapters from NY, Philly and it was CT on an Amtrak train to the convention in New Orleans. It was the longest train ride I'd ever been on, but it was fun because we were all young and kids and all friends from the different states. I miss those days.
Simple song like ‘Yes Jesus Loves Me for the Bible Tells me so.’ The beauty and simplicity of the Gospel. What has happened to the church of today? Everything has to be complicated with an over excessive and exaggerated style of music that reflects more of the world’s pure carnality! No one wants to worship in Spirit and in truth as God requires, we’d rather the glory, approbation and praise to be given to ourselves instead of to our Savior!
Because back then women covered their heads during consecration services. It showed a sign of holiness and a lot of holiness denominations back then believed that women should cover their heads based on 1Cor 11:5 that states: But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.

Yes her name is Sylvia quigless and she’s 77 as of 2021. Mrs Geneva gentry the lady that said “red roses please??” She passed in 2013 at age 101.
@@olcam6071 Did you attend any of the conventions? I did as a teenager. I stopped going in 1981. I know and have seen a lot of these people. I remember Geneva Gentry. I was from the Connecticut Chapter. One year I traveled with the chapters from NY, Philly and it was CT on an Amtrak train to the convention in New Orleans. It was the longest train ride I'd ever been on, but it was fun because we were all young and kids and all friends from the different states. I miss those days.

No one wants to worship in Spirit and in truth as God requires, we’d rather the glory, approbation and praise to be given to ourselves instead of to our Savior!

Because back then women covered their heads during consecration services. It showed a sign of holiness and a lot of holiness denominations back then believed that women should cover their heads based on 1Cor 11:5 that states: But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven.
