Morning! I bought one of those off ebay a while back. Haven't used it yet, but it looks to be in about the and condition as yours. It's supposed to be the bomb in 44, though KFW said he couldn't get them to cycle in his new Henry X model. Great looking bullets, as always!
Keith style, lead-forward bullets in mag cases can present feeding problems for the Henry action. I have to load them in 44 Specials for my Big Boy. I think the Marlins will feed them Ok.
@@viejo2a The voice of knowledge and experience. I have 1000 new Starline 44 special cases just in case. I find it interesting that the empty special brass will cycle through the action. I'd like to try some DEWC. Do you have a suggestion for a different mold for the Henry?
@@Tex_I_Can I haven’t seen a DEWC for 44. Lyman made a couple of type-3 wadcutters, a 180 (429348) and a 245 grain (429352). Those are a little hard to find. The Lee 429-200-RF runs well in the magnum cases in the Henrys. Performance will, or course, depend on the load. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
Morning stranger!! Elmer would approve in choice. There was MANY versions of tge cherries used ta cut these. Who knows why but Lyman was inconsistent like that. @ least you have a good front driv band. I have one withba thumb nail band its a shame cause it was HP'ed. Id of preferred a wide DB like you have. You should be able ta clean that up. Check the alignment pin and its bores with magnifier. That lead ya cleaned probably still has some hiding inhibiting 100% consistent mold closure.
That mold varies over the years but crimp as high as it possibly allows on the crimp groove for lever gun, it’s funny what 2 thou can do. That’s my experience on Marlin and Rossi 44’s and they shoot them so damn good. I’d work on the finning issue and start with a good cleaning then check for gaps in the light... after that it takes adjustment then “balls” . 😂🕺🏻👍
You got one of the more desirable versions with square grease groove and wide, more uniform driving bands. The diameter they dropped is not unusual. They’ll size to whatever you need them. Nice acquisition. You’ll get about 150 grains in Zinc. 🤛🏻🔫🇺🇸
That looks like someone used anti seize on the alignment pins. It also looked like some got into the cavity. Thatll cause wrinkles all day long. Boil that sucker then give it an acetone bath and i think it'll be great 👍
Judging by your hands you are a diesel mechanic at your day job. Good video thanks for posting
Thanks
You are close on the profession.
Those are turning out pretty good!
Yup thanks
Morning thanks for sharing

I haven't played with the cycling yet. It does look like a nice bullet.

@@viejo2a Arsenal makes one. Even though I'm not up and casting yet, I'm tempted to order it.
That could be anti seeze
It cleaned off and started casting better.
Excellent! Everybody's favourite bullet. Cleaned up O.K. In zinc that should be cool to shoot as well!
Yeah I'm thinking so. I gotta get some time to cast some up in zinc.
Great looking mold! Just had to give it some HICKORY! UJ would approve! That is a damn nice bullet!
Yeah it looks good. Thanks Marc
Really nice Mold. Maybe they use some aluminum anti-seize on them pins
Thanks I might try some.
@@brokeloader That is what I use .

Sweet thanks Walter for the info.
Nice pick up will run fine in the Marlin. One thing to note is flat faced seem to like a slower rack on the lever and slight cant vs being straight
Thanks for the heads up
Great video Brokeloader
Thanks chris
Good stuff sir

Have never heard of using zinc. How hard are they?
Softer than jacketed but harder than lead cast.
Nice lookin
