    Thanks, Jim. I self-published comics in the 90's and early 2000's. I'm getting back into that again and your channel is very helpful.

    This was really helpful. Ordered the stapler. My printer does double sided printing. It helps a lot. I build my stuff into a pdf. Only a few trials so far. After an art ahow in october im going to give it a real shot. Just a collection of ideas, art photography and words. Thanks for making this

    Good interview in Comics Journal 98 with Clay Geerdes, the first real promoter of mini-comics. Around that same time (mid-80's) TCJ ran a survey of contemporary mini-comics and for a while regular reviews on what was happening with minis. Geerdes was a champion of "just make comics" and published Comix World, a newsletter, and helped a lot of newbies to get their feet wet. I ordered from him back in the day and before I knew it he'd talked me into drawing something for him.

      Would be a good place for them to start if they decide to do an episode taking a bigger look at the history of minis. Would make a nice companion piece to this and the earlier show and tell they did.

    Inspirational video Jim. Thanks for making and sharing. Would you be willing to do video about process before it goes to printer? Not necessarily the drawing itself, but how you organize and construct page layouts, etc. Thanks again.

    I coallate and fold and THEN staple! I never have trimmed my comics, might be a good idea.

    Grab a straightedge and run the pointy end of that scoring bone done the middle of your covers! It's an extra step but it'll help line up your staples plus it looks nice and cracks less

    Great video, Jim. Beautifully explained so clearly. I heard you mention Best Value Copy. Have you made a separate video about setting up your prints with those guys? I went to their website and got lost. Obviously they have the means to print and assemble any zine. But your method allows for flexibility and interjecting odd pages or putting them together in a different sequence. I contacted them by their website to ask about a paper sampler pack.

    Do you watch any modern wrestling or just old school WWF? Tonight (Saturday) is NJPW's Dominion show and it looks like it's going to be great. It's got Jericho vs. Okada, Naito vs. Ibushi, Dragon Lee vs. Ospreay and Moxley (Dean Ambrose) who just won the IWGP US title, in a match with a young lion.

    • @CartoonistKayfabe
      @CartoonistKayfabe  5 років тому +3

      I keep an eye on modern wrestling. Mostly I listen to podcasts about wrestling. Moxley's story is fascinating. AEW. I've watched some NJPW. But I don't watch much. Mostly just listen to old wrestling stories. - Jim

      Thank you. I was doing minis back in the very late 80s but have been out of it for awhile. I recently did a Frankenstein vs. Kong mini for my grandson, and had such a good time I started working on some new scripts. Trying to break into the Big Time never gave me as much joy as my time in the small press. You're an inspiration. Thanks again.
