2:10 Wish you hadn't sped through the pumps so quickly. No filter? I had fire bellied newts yrs sgo. The last pair I had in an aquatic tank ended up with their little eyes bulging out like a tumor. Maybe too much aeration? I conditioned the water.🦎
Thanks for the pointer, it has a small pump working in the back end, to be fair an air stone does wonders with giving a little bit of flow but not too much to disturb the newts requirements
Thank you, work in Progress but it’s coming along nicely. I call myself some what of an experimental keeper with number one priority ensuring I do all the research I can. I would recommend you do the same. You can Blanche leaves , sticks from outside but make sure they are not toxic to animals. I would only collect from non pesticide areas and would trial in controlled environments first. But have fun, and enjoy the process 😎

This looks amazing, im in nz too and was wondering if you can use sticks and moss from outside after being rinsed?

Just wondering are they similar with Chinese fire belly?
Similar but different, Japanese are larger, and brighter in colouration, both start very terrestrial and become more aquatic as they grow
