Hope you guys enjoy this as much as I do. Today we're installing a 12.3-inch screen in my 2011 BMW 535i. It's replacing the old CIC system in the car and will finally give me apple carplay and android auto as well as a much brighter and sharper display that looks like it comes right off of a 2017+ G30 BMW 5 series.

Excellent Video Walk through. I also just purchased from 4x4 for my Audi B8...They have good customer service compared to their competitors just down the road from them.
Looks nice but i wouldn't take the risk of installing system. The aux cable thanks for explaining honesty saved me from buying 👍
I did this on my 2012 740li. Great upgrade! About to do a 14.9inch screen on my 2017 X5 m package. Maybe one day ill do it to my X7 also. But for now the x7 screen is legit.

I did everything correctly, but the aux does not work
You should have ran the cable through the center console.the rubber floor pads where the aux is can be removed and there is 3 holes to run the wire.
did exactly this a few months back and the cable is no longer visible
Hi Great Video, will this also work for me who has the small screen with no Navi and champ2 system which also has no BT Audio? (Only calls work via BT but no apps oder music of any kind ..)

i have a 2016 BMW X1 XDRIVE28I which doesn't have navigation and Backup camera
1. Do i need the wifi adapter to connect the dash to a hotspot so i have watch youtube, use internet, GPS etc?
2. Do i need a Bluetooth adapter to connect to my phone and use android auto?
3. If so where did you hide those?
4. How easy it is to install the backup camera and where do i place it?
5. If i have installed professionally, how much do you think that would cost me?

I have a 535i manual and my car has 3 driving modes. Normal, Sport and Sport+. How did you manage to make the mic work? And could you already connect your phone for bluetooth music streaming?
hey, did you find a way to make it show the bow screen when you start the car instead of it saying HD.
So you have to use an aux cord to play music if you have 2011-2013? You can’t connect to Spotify and play music that way
Did you get the highest operating system and follow up question does the operating system effect how long it take to start up?

yeah I kept the factory microphone and it still works fine
If your cic unit is not working would the rest of the other options work such as CarPlay?

It controls the main dimmer switch. So you can’t control dark or brightness.

Hi I did it exactly like you however my problem is that I cant return to the Original OS to make the last adjustments there (Audio Output). The OG Radio is playing but I cant make it output from Screen (I mean the screens commands and then outputting in Car Audio of course). Long Press on Menu gets me a blackscreen and so does the menu point "MyCar" Any idea?

Thanks. I want to have my reverse camera available as soon as the car starts. Does the device need to 'boot' for a while when you start the car? How long does that take?
No, it doesn't require the Android unit to boot first. The camera will use the BMW mode to display the camera instantly. Android unit takes about 20 seconds to fully boot.

In Android mode, yes.
Just bought the android auto for my 2015 BMW F10. I'm having a hard time trying to find someone that will install the unit. How long would you say max to install this unit?
What app is it that I use for Android auto? I have Z link but it may be an old one? It does not sync with A Auto only car play
Have you ever used the USB cables that are attached to the device? I'm just about to mount a screen in my car and don't really know where to take them out. In the passenger compartment? I don't want them sticking out into the interior somewhere.
i’ve never used them and just keep them in the glovebox
Did you have to do anything to allow voice commands to work? I have looked at other upgrades and you had to wire in another microphone and speaker to allow the phone to work properly. Sorry if I'm repeating a question which may have been asked below. Great video! Thanks.
I had this and the mic installed today and it works fine with this system…the Bluetooth audio does act up once every 20 starts but that’s easily fixed by manually connecting

It definitely won't mess up your heads up display, we install them here in the UK and have no issues with heads up display cars!

still love it. very occasionally it’ll cut out or have trouble connecting to apple carplay but i’ll turn off the car and it’ll work again on the next startup
@@Krowicki a year later, is there an updated model that may have addressed that connection issue?
i don’t know i’m not affiliated with the company that made the screen i just saw another person recommend so i bought it too. i’m sure there’s some update i can do to the app that does the carplay but it hasn’t bugged be enough to look into it.

because i want to replace my start button and i would remove the trim in order to do that
will the screen be in the way when removing the trim because it's like you will hit the screen when trying to removing the trim
Did you get the anti-glare or anti-reflect? What’s the difference?
One has no glare and the other you won’t see a reflection 🤦♂️

Would really be nice if you can make a review video after using it for 1 year. I am planning to buy one but Ive seen many videos where some say it’s excellent and others say its horrible. Cant make my mind
I've been using mine for a little over a 6 months. The cable they provided to interface with the car has an intermittent short where I lose the right channel speakers. I've mostly fixed the issue because they wanted to charge me $35 to ship a cable out. There were a lot of firmware issues that have mostly been corrected with the last update they pushed to me. It's been a bit of a headache but I'm happy now that it is working. I love having wireless apple carplay and a bigger touchscreen but it's not perfect.
Awesome video. Thinking about getting this from China since I'm Chinese.
FYI the unit is $260 on Chinese platforms, and I'm gonna spend $20 to ship it to Canada with UPS.

Hey John I forget exactly how I did it but I do remember that the support team of the company I bought this head unit from was super helpful and had an answer to all my questions
@@Krowicki hi I found out what the problem was, in the setting for zlink I had hd selected, as soon as I unselected it I had full screen picture
Where have you connected the two cables of your screen, the pink one and the black one? I now have that problem jose where are they placed
the black one stayed disconnected as the new one went in and the pink one went right into the new screen

you get this sorted out. I was also wondering where the black connection was to be placed on the new unit. I installed my 12.3 yesterday and I am several issues. No sound, no backup camera, no original screen menu.

Is the unit connected to a mic for phonecalls? Like if you put the phone under the arm rest
It uses the OEM bluetooth for phone calls so yes it's connected to the original microphone
HI, have you same issues with the steering wheel controls? When i try to use them, i get an error in my dashbaord, "steeringwheel controls disabled in aux mode"
same thing here. it's because in the earlier f10's that use the cic system you have to use aux for the system to work and the car doesn't allow steering wheel control skips and rewinds for aux

Roughly 20 - 30 seconds

Hi just wondering if there is any bad glare on the screen with a sunny day.
I had a pretty bad glare the first day I had it but I went to the settings on the screen and adjusted the brightness and its been fine since. My car is also tinted which makes the glare not as bad

Does the new system have an amplifier, and is it louder than the factory system?
It is a little more bass heavy in my 535i …there a few preset options for jazz, pop, stadium, etc

yeah you can and you can access the android os as well

Hi I have a question, doest the head up display still works when you go to the old default car menu and then start the original navigation ?

@@miguelhobando it still works, you will see the lane you need to be/turns in on your hud but you won't see the old navigation images on the new screen if your on carplay, it works with it "off". Everything works fine with both systems installed.
Can I use my mobile with wireless Android auto?
How does the original phone call function on the steering wheel work after this install? Do the contacts still show up on the screen on the instrument cluster so you can scroll through your last calls etc? Does it sync with the new screen? Very curious!

@@markgombkoto2089 It doesn’t work because he didn’t plug in the aftermarket mic. You can still use the steering wheel controls if you leave the original bmw system in Bluetooth mode.
Are you able to get it in reverse now? What was the problem?
still no reverse just commuting with it for now and where I park I don't need reverse. I'll get it done in the second half of this year.

Hey I'm looking to buy the same screen from 4x4 auto. They have some sketchy reviews, so I'm wondering how the monitor has been working so far?
Also how did you ensure you recieved the right chip?
you can verify it in the android settings for the unit. my units been great so far I've had it for only a couple weeks. My only complaint is I wish android auto / apple carplay started faster. it takes like at least 30 seconds after starting the car for that to get worming but other than that I've been super happy with it
@@Krowicki Hey thanks for the reply. I was also wondering what impact it had on your sound? My F10 came with the regular speakers and I upgraded them to the Focals. I would hate to spend more money on screen at the expense of my music listening quality

@@charlesmakes6520 If you're a big music guy, yes. I just did the front door speakers and the two subs under the front seats. I also put a 10" in the trunk to add base because even with the focal upgrade, the base was lacking.

Love it, honestly one of the best aftermarket steros I've installed in a car. The only negative thing I can say is i've been told during phone calls that the audio quality from my end isn't that great.
Have you noticed a difference in audio quality? Others have reported a degradation.
I'm running my headunit audio through aux and the sound quality is great

Actually it's the worst "upgrade" for the f10/f11 in my opinion... it looks like a series FX radio... when the stock big screen is ok, just needed upgrade to android on stock location. Nice info btw
Thanks, it all comes down to personal preference. Some people like to keep the original screen, some people upgrade to the standing 10 inch, and then there's the 12.3 I did.
