Set it to any value that isn't its original one to enable it and switch it back to disable it (or die ingame).
If you want it on console, use a cheat converting tool. I recommend using PCSX2dis on emulator.

I read my old post here, and made the assumption that because you are holding models (stuck to you), the game freaks out when playing audio cues/misc sounds for whatever models you have stuck to you and causes strange, unpredictable audio corruption of said sounds.

Why does hitting the crystals make the sound of the villagers going "HMMM?" but in escalating pitches? And then there is that creepy slow-mo voice.... Also right after that scene there is the pshycatron (however it's spelled) noise but all slowed down?
