Great video! Thank you for this! Just had my double mastectomy with expanders and doing your recommended exercises. Will do radiation next month. Thank you so much for this helpful video ❤!!!!
So happy to hear the videos are helping! Hope radiation goes well and all the best with your recovery.
I haven’t had lymphedema (yet) but I’m glad I watched this video! I’m about to go back to work for longer days. I’ll be careful to vary my posture (luckily I already have a sit-stand desk) and stretch regularly.
That's great to be so informed even when you don't have lymphedema. I'm sure you'll see benefit with varying your posture with neck/shoulder tension too.
I watched and have been doing the routines from your other video on self lymphatic massage routine for breast. On this video you discussed deeper massage for the hardened tissue from radiation. Is it okay to do this type of pressure massage over clothing or should it only be done on skin, like is suggested in the other turtorial I referenced. Thank you for this video. And for your time educating us.
You can do either. When you’re treating yourself it can sometimes be easier to go directly on your skin but it’s really personal preference. That’s great that you’ve been doing the other routine!
Excellent as I had trouble finding out about breast enlargemnt due to lymphodema would be great to have some techniques to use at home
Glad the video was helpful. All the best with your lymphedema recovery.
It’s really frustrating because I had a lumpectomy and radiation treatment for DCIS. If I had known more about radiation fibrosis, I may have decided to do a mastectomy instead (in which case I would not have needed radiation).
Yes, it’s definitely easier to make decisions in retrospect! With DCIS a mastectomy would have changed the need for radiation. My cancer was stage 2 so I ended up having radiation even though I had a mastectomy. I didn’t really know what to expect with radiation fibrosis and the symptoms can be significant both short-term and long-term, which I’m assuming you’re experiencing.
I had breast cancer 13 years ago . I believe that I now have lymphadema .
Any advice for me?
I would start by doing a self-lymphatic massage routine (video - ua-cam.com/video/XMZDKqS1HT4/v-deo.html). If you have the resources seeking treatment from a certified lymphedema can make a huge difference. I’m going to do a video coming up on all the strategies I used to address lymphedema so look out for that. Good luck!
