    I have 2 SSA-Es and 6 MBT-2Ses. Coming from my first AR that had a slightly creepy 6 or 6.5 lbs single stage trigger, the MBT-2S was a huge improvement. I think a 4.5 lbs pull weight is the sweet spot for a "combat" trigger. Back when the MBT-2S could be bought for $80-100, it was a no-brainer. I wouldn't pay anywhere near full price for an SSA-E, but when you can get them when they're on sale for $140-160, it's a far more palatable purchase.

      Yeah, I saw that PA had them for 245 and I was like what!?! That’s insane! A good $150 trigger for sure! As stated I like the MBT, but it definitely isn’t my preferred and I like the SSA-E waaaayyyyy more than the Larue.

      @@shootintheshtpodcast I think I just slightly prefer the MBT-2S due to how inexpensive it was and the fact that I've been shooting with it for longer than the SSA-E. That said, I do think the reset on the SSA-E is slightly better than the MBT-2S's reset. The SSA-E's reset feels a little more positive. It's not something I notice when I'm actually shooting, but it's definitely noticeable when dry firing the triggers next to each other.

    100% agree. I ran both flat and curved MBTs for thousands of rounds. Good overall triggers but the SSA-E is better in my opinion, feels more crisp. I wouldn’t pay full price for one but for $150 to $160 when they are one sale I think they are a no brainer

    I have several versions of the Geissele triggers. The SSA-E is great for Bench Rest shooting. But I feel it’s too light for everything else. I’m a huge fan of the SSA but to be honest, once I got a G2S for $115 I never looked back. It’s a great trigger. I plan on getting more when I see sales.
    But my favorite Geissele is the SSF. 😎

    • @scott2228
      @scott2228 11 місяців тому +4

      G2S is the same as the SSA regarding trigger pull weight. Only difference is the G2S has a “batch” QC verses the SSA and all other Geissele are individually inspected. Cost savings of only checking a few in a batch vs all of them is then passed onto the consumer. Once I found that out, and knowing how “top notch” everything Geissele makes, I’m happy saving the $ and going with the basic G2S. The pull feels the same to me between the 2.

    I don’t hate you! I hate that we have so many choices. I actually had the, actually I still have, ssa/x. Only 100 rounds or less on this one. Watched many videos and read enough about the Larue when I was considering it a year ago, and was convinced that due to the material would be a more durable option. That is why I did purchase one however it is the curved version and since purchasing this last year I’ve bought other triggers with flat face I have come to really like the flat, for now. So, been looking at purchasing the flat face Larue here recently, but have revisited given the SSAX another try and holding off on the larue. I’m not gonna say your video is staring me away from making that purchase of the Larue but may hold off now. Thanks

    Just replace the trigger spring with a lighter one.....I've changed out several MBT trigger springs with Kaw Valley reduced power....I own LaRue MBTs and Geissele 2 stage variants and they're both great triggers for the money....The MBT is around $120 and you can find some Geissele models that are the same feel as LaRue for around $170.....You just need to know what spring to use.....You have the HD spring on that straight bow.....That's why you have a heavier feel.....

      The MBT is running the lightest spring it has in the case. I’m not buying a reduced power spring. That could very well cause light primer strikes on military hard primers. MBT is decent for the price but SSA-E is a better trigger. Most people that say they are as good don’t have Geissele fcg’s and are just parroting the narrative. A better comparison for the MBT is the more budget Geissele G2S. I’ve got SSA & SSA-E’s honestly I can’t tell that much of a difference in the two they are both excellent crisp FCG’s. Yeah... problem is, when most people say one product is "objectively" or "empirically" better... theyre comparing things that arent objective.
      As an example, there are reasons to want longer travel AND shorter travel. There are reasons to want lighter spring weight AND heavier spring weight. There are reasons to want a light trigger (by mass) and a reason to want a heavier trigger (by mass).
      Neither is objectively better than the other. Both have objective qualities, and comparing those qualities against our use cases and preferences is where we subjectively decide which is better.
      Like... there are reasons somebody would WANT a MILSPEC trigger, and a 2 stage would be worse for their use case.
