- This is a long term review of the larue mbt trigger. I have had these triggers for a few years now and with absolutely thousands of rounds through them I figured it was about time for a review. This is my opinion on the best trigger out there,not only a great value but great performance as well.
Couldn’t agree more the trigger is great. Just as good as the Geissele. The price makes it a no brainer.
I’m building a 300 blk out pistol, and I bought this trigger for that build, I’ve never shot with 2 stage triggers before so we’ll see how it goes
Spent an afternoon reading before choosing a trigger, and came to the conclusion that this is definitely "the biggest bang for your buck"! And the 4-4.5lb pull is perfect!

I love it. Have one on my ddm4v7 and another on an SBR PDW. Very smooth, no grit at all. Feels natural and enhanced my 100+ yds grouping [compared to factory trigger] at the range. They're often on back-order, so that tells you something also@@jp1419
I agree. Recently bought one and it's really nice. I replaced a trigger that was twice the price with it, and I still like it better. Didn't notice the reset being any more aggressive than a mil spec trigger.
I just ordered my first Larue trigger a couple days ago and I am really looking forward to it, I got the flat bore trigger and it will be my first off that kind! I have milspec triggers ranging from Anderson to ALG to BCM and I am really excited to see if this trigger is all that people claim it to be!

Couldn’t agree with you more. I bought four. All are the straight bow. I use the lighter spring. Haven’t had any problems with setting off primers.

You should be able to run the light trigger spring for mil spec ammo. The hammer spring is what hits the primer the trigger spring is just there for trigger pull weight and resetting tge trigger after each shot. The only bad thing about ultra light trigger springs is if the gun gets super dirty the trigger may not reset properly.

I have about... 6000+ rounds through this in a dedicated 22lr build and while it took me a few thousand rounds to get used to it, I'm able to rip off rounds very quickly where people next to me think I have a binary trigger or slower rpm automatic. I need to get my splits but it's fast even with the light trigger spring and makes shots at 50 yards with irons / 1x optics on 4" targets easy. I bought a second and new shooters love it too.
No hate... but why do Geissele triggers cost so much more? I like both brands.
I have these in a couple of AR15 and an AR10. I have a Geisele in an AR15. LaRue is same or better (I like it more) and durable.
Everything LaRue makes is excellent. For the $ there is nothing better for AR platform triggers.
Oh yeah - and have both curved and straight bow LaRue triggers and both are fantastic
I got one a couple yrs back and am highly impressed with it i have it in my hunting set up!! it improved my groups and is super smooth
Enjoyed this video. I use both Geissele and Larue triggers. On the Larue trigger, if you maintain finger contact on the trigger face throughout reset, there’s a slight amount of take up before the break. Not a bad thing IMO, just different from my Geisseles.
LaRue in general is a great company. I have the mbt in all my rifles. Wish they would put their upper back on sale tho
I should have bought another one when before they raised prices. $115 each now. I've been running one in my primary rifle for almost 5 years and it makes me happy every time I shoot it. I happen to like the squared edges. I know exactly where my fingers is and I make better presses.
You can sometimes find them for around $100
I love mine and can't beat that price
Just installed the curved version and now wish I had the straight. I have a g$ sd-c in my shtf build and prefer the straight bow on that over the curve. They are actually pretty comparable but I’m not gonna lie, the G $ is more crisp for sure. Hope Larue comes out with another iteration of these maybe a little lighter pull or something and redesign the straight bow (they can make it look more tacticool)

Great trigger from a awesome company
I've been watching reviews of this trigger for a few days and it seems like the first stage is equivalent to the normal creep you get with a mil spec trigger; just a lot lighter.
I mean we're talking 3 or 4 millimeters. According to the website it's 2.5# to get through that then 2# for the second stage but I've seen videos where they claim that first stage is under a pound.
Definitely getting this trigger.
I’ve been using them for years. I’ve ran them pretty hard though a few training rifles and have never had a problem. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Unfortunately I don’t personally know anyone who has tried their suppressor.
I paid MSRP for a Geissele... ONCE.
I got their BLEM ones, but even they are $150
Might have to give this flat bow one a shot.

I have both on different lowers. With that said, the Geiselle I have had for a long time and its broken in well. The MBT out of the box was very similar in feel and just a little, um, stiffer (that’s the best way I can describe it). It is not broken in yet, but I can tell that it’s going to be as good when broken in.

@@wadegillis1074I don’t like the take up in a 2 stage trigger for an AR/defensive rifle. I was an LEO with a lot of AR training and shoot better with it. More quick shot type shooting if know what I mean. Hope that answers your question.
1:29 this is wrong. This trigger has been out for at least a decade. They were originally $225. Not 70. Mark LaRue reduced the price to spite bill geissele when geissele started to get into scope mounts and cut into LaRue's market share.

Am I a total idiot? wouldn’t the hammer spring be responsible for light strikes on hard primers?
The two top triggers on this planet are Geissele and Hiperfire. Ive sent thousands of lead down range with all types of triggers, except the Timney Calvin Elite. The Geissele SD3G, is an EDC trigger, not just a competition trigger have video the verify thousands and thousands of rounds. The Hiperfire Eclipse may be (considering all things equal) the fastest trigger on earth. I own several Geissele SD3G triggers and several Hiperfire Eclipse triggers. Neck and neck, but id choose the Geissele SD3G every time,then if not available the Hiperfire Eclipse trigger. These are companies that started triggers first,not 5yrs later. If you haven't shot either trigger you absolutely can not have an opinion about it. The LaRue is "a touch better" than an average trigger. I eat sleep and breathe triggers and Cerakoteing.
Why would you choose the SD3G over the hiperfire eclipse? Just out of curiosity.
@@asdfghjk2933 it has more feed back from the entire flat bow. Regardless they are neck and neck. Bill has spent his life perfecting his triggers.
@@tangomantactical That’s true. The hiper fire just has feedback from the shoe. How do you like the actual pull of the SD3G vs the eclipse? I know the Geissele has essentially a full rolling break whereas the eclipse is much crisper.
Alright so I have two of these LaRue MBT-2S triggers and they're both the standard model not the flat faced. I like the trigger a lot and agree the trigger is comparable to an SSA or even an SSA-E. That said, I took one of them out to replace it with an SSA-E mainly because I just had more experience with the SSA-E and I got it for cheap so it was a justifiable upgrade. I planned on putting that LaRue MBT into a different gun anyway. Well, that's where I find my only problem with the MBT2S.
Ever since it was removed from that first AR I cannot fit it into any other lowers. i have tried 3 different ones now. It's not that I'm doing anything wrong, something is just wrong with the trigger. I'm willing to accept that it is somehow my fault(I don't think it is though, once removed from the first AR it was stored in its original packaging sealed in a sock drawer--don't ask why it was in a sock drawer, it just was).
So now I'm left with a $100 trigger that just won't work properly when installed into any other lowers and these are good lowers I've tried it in. Dunno if LaRue would replace/repair it but yeah, that's my story with the MBT2S. I haven't contacted them.
Overall the trigger is good, I guess there is just something wrong with one of mine.
Try contacting Larue. Their customer service is awesome.
@@scoutthedog9310 ya know what I'll give that a try just because honestly I want to give this trigger the full benefit of the doubt for testing purposes and it would be good to add an addendum to the comment I posted. I'll try to get in touch with them sometime this coming week when I have some spare time. I'm quite busy preparing for the most important job interview of my life at Tesla! Wish me luck good sir.

Why does it not fit? Hard to help if you don’t know. You are removing the grip and safety selector before trying to install yea?
Did you talk to LaRue about this issue? Tool steel should not be deforming under normal fire. I have 4 MBTs and all fit interchangeably. One of the 4 is a flat bow, the other 3 curved. One of the primary features of the MBT is its consistency and I think Mark LaRue's pretty proud of that fact. I would contact them to see if there is an issue. Your storage story is cheesy as hell. I wouldn't be taking pot-shots on the internet, that's chicken shyte stuff.
Ever tried the Centurion AST trigger? That’s the best trigger I have, and I own Geissele triggers too. I haven’t ever tried a Larue trigger, and want to compare one to a Centurion.

I've been spoiled by my KAC trigger, but I'm looking to sell my sr15 soon and the price for this trigger is a no-brainer. I've heard nothing but good reviews on it.

Great video....I have this trigger in the flat bow too. I also have the geissele 3 gun single stage. This trigger is by far equal quality and a third of the price . I just wish it came in single stage. Larue is top quality stuff

@@stephen_crumley yes. They have it on their website as sold out. A customer service rep told me no longer in production....I do love the 2 stage larue

I think if this trigger was the same price as a G trigger it would still be better.

I tried to install my LaRue MBT-2S straight bow trigger on my S&W M&P AR-10, it would not fit properly, can you do a video on that exact gun

I don't mind the curve, I just wish it wasn't quite as wide. The width with that curve does feel a bit weird to me as well

With the 4-4.5lb spring does that lower the effect of light primer strikes when cycling rounds? Is it possible if you keep the same bullet at the top of your mag and do a bunch of clearing drills where you cycle the bolt, will the light primer strikes add up and cause a accidental discharge?
That's was the only wrong info in this video The heavy spring (changes total pull weight to 6ish lbs) is a trigger spring and affects trigger pull weight the hammer spring is what affects the primer strike and I haven't heard of light primer strikes with these.
What Larue did was more important than their trigger alone… they proved Bob Geissele ripped us off for ages with overpriced overhyped triggers.

Installed two MBTs and swapped them out a month later for ssa-e triggers...not a fan.
Think the psa flat single stage would be better? It’s same price. Tempted to return this, doesn’t seem worth 100$ when it’s barely better than a ept / milspec polished yourself.
@@carsonhunt4642 Honestly not a fan of the flat trigger...I bought a DD lower that came with a Geissele flat trigger and just couldn't get used to it.
SSA-E or the SSA are my go- tos respectively.
