I recently started using progressive tension strings on my bass, and I must say, not only is it the most comfortable setup I’ve had, but it’s the best tone I’ve ever had too.
I'm also thinking of trying progressive tension for 4 string bass, which gauges and tensions did you use? I'm wondering what would be the ideal tension difference between the ends of the set, 5 lbs or 10 lbs or something else...
@ From the lowest to highest string, the gauges are 100-70-55-32, and I tune one half-step down. I’m using 32 just because I don’t have a 35 gauge. I don’t know the exact poundage in tension, but if it helps I’m using D’Addario XL’s.
@@veglord_the_profane Thank you for the answer. I couldn't figure how to see tensions half-step down from D'Addario's tension chart, but using "XL - Nickelplated Round Wound Long Scale" in standard tuning your tensions would be 36,5-33,7-35,3-21,8. So with 55 tension goes back up and dives quite a lot with 32 from there, but if it feels good and neck doesn't oppose no problem.
@ Yea the neck is doing fine but like I said, the 32 is a placeholder. In fact I recently replaced it with a 40 because the tone sounded a little too thin for my taste
Perfect! I have the same guitar - so i can get a perfect review I only see the standard 7 set of strings available - debating to buy or wait for the heavy set
Thanks for demoing bro! Liked and subbed! Ps I just swapped out a normal 62 out from my 7 string Wasburn evertune, for Dunlop Heavy core 60. And it made all the difference! Twangy snappy yet tight! Omg I have to order the 65 Misha preferred. Thx again rock on!
That's awesome you think so, man. Always trying to get better and better. I see so many UA-camrs that I aspire to be like on production. I think it would be cool to do a video on my process. :)
They sound great. I think I'll try them myself. Also, I'm really looking forward to hear your band's new EP. Hope it will be released soon. Take care Brandon!
Also, last the talked to the band about the EP, the screamer was working on lyrics. Hopefully we can get it finished up soon. I'm anxious to get it done. :)
To be honest, I have not tried Elixir strings from what I remember. I've never been really ever to tell much of a difference in strings. I think it's mostly marketing like anything else. These strings do hold up - no rust. But I also don't sweat either.
My experience with these strings is for rhythm playing and maybe some light leads (thick strings). If you are a shredder and depend on bends and vibratos then these strings may NOT be for you.
@@selimb33 10/58 Heavy 6 (10-14-19-30-42-58). My lead style incorporates a lot of pulls and vibrators, these strings would require a lot of muscle build - if I had time perhaps. I went to StringJoy for a custom set (10-13.5-17-26W-36-50). Seems to hold tune on power chords in Drop C tuning.
Thanks for doing this. I'm glad someone picked up on our hilarious customer chat icon! :)
Hey thanks sir. It's an honor to have the team see my video. :)
@@BrandonBurch I whatsapp'd it over to them the other day, everyone loved it!

I use these gauges on my RGDIX7 for drop G (custom sets from dunlop), Misha definitely knows what guys like me need
Hey man, thanks for sharing your experience! I'm glad to know they work for Drop G as well. :)

Didn’t expect feed the machine as the first riff. Love it man this also has helped me select strings for my Jackson. Thanks for the information
Rock on!
2:21 Blue refers to the colour of the burst, not the centre.

Your channel feels really nice
Glad you think so!
✨Great video, Brandon! ✨
Thanks mom
Bro your videos are so well done. Could you maybe go over your software and editing process for videos in another video?

What's that song in the beginning? 0:10
That was a jingle I created for the channel. I need to bring that jingle back with a new video intro since I've changed my studio.
@@BrandonBurch that jingle is a banger, a jangler
These look interesting shame they're not available in the UK
:(
Out of curiosity, what DAW do you use to load your plugins? I'm having trouble finding one I'm satisfied with.
I use Reaper. It's the only DAW I've ever used personally. It was recommended to me and it's what I've stuck with. I like it.
FEED THE MACHINE! 🤘
have you tried elixir optiwebs? or any elixir string? how would you compare these to other string brands? do they rust quick?

Hi Brandon, I was wondering how to get these strings? Can’t seem to find them on Amazon
From Horizon Devices: horizondevices.com/products/progressive-tension-heavy-7
Awesome sounding axe Brandon! I have my 7 string tuned to drop A.
Awesome man! Drop A is great too. Thanks
man i have a question, for this guitar no need to file the nut to fit the 65 gauge?
No filing needed for me.
Genial! 👍🏼
Thank you JC
This guy is so underrated.
Thanks man

Its called "blue burst" cuz the BURST around the edge is BLUE
Someone listens to RED!!! FEED THE MACHINE!!
Yes :) one of my foundational bands I listened to a lot of when starting guitar.
