Outstanding review! I love the 416 platform I believe it is absolutely a quality piece of kit that does have performance enhancing characteristics for certain use cases. I also love that the BRN specifically got the gassing just right! The HK with the original style has block is over gassed HARD. I do agree with you Chris that weight is overplayed. However, if I could get it a pound lighter id be lying if I said I wouldn’t want it. With that said balance is wildly more important to me as long as the gun is 10-12 pounds or less. If it is M1 weight or less I believe it’s a viable field weapon. As a bonus that weight does help settle the gun down to take more precise shots as well. Another great Job Chris! I have a medium, and I'll keep that profile for longer uppers I'm picking up in the future. But for the 10.4 I wish I got the heavy, although there is minimal poi shift with the medium suppressed there'd be even less if I got the heavy
I'm interested what you think of the redi-mag. I was thinking it would be a great choice to have on ones home defense gun. Outside of home defense is a redi-mag a good choice for a armed and prepared citizen or minuteman?
Thank you for the very thorough review. I appreciate your opinion on the recoil impulse and the use of suppressors with the upper. I hav a nefarious arms chrome lines upper, but I am considering the 10.4 BRN-4 upper on my Colt SBR.
Thanks man for doing an actually watchable video on the BRN4 and not just a bitch-fest about piston rifles or clone-nerding. Got me considering picking up a 14.5 upper and playing with the type.
Dude your one of the best in the business. I'm glad to see Brownells made this a viable option, but do you think there's a reason to pick this over an 11.5 BCM or something equivalent to that? I know you hate the weight argument but Im not sure what that extra pound is gaining you in capabilities
If you don't suppress a ton, and if you don't spend long periods of time outside I wouldn't no. In that case the extra pound isn't justified. The endurance that you get suppressed from this thing as well as the outdoor neglect is the real advantage that you get.
Solid.........good reporting. No bullshit, just good info on the hardware. I have a 10.4" HK upper but I have an extra 14.5 brownells barrel for it. I ran it around 4000 rds or so and switched back to my 10.4 because I missed the compact nature with a full size SiCo can on it, and it's fairly soft. I really want to pick up some more Brownells parts to put together a whole upper with my 14.5 heavy barrel so I'll have two options. I have no gripes with the quality of my barrel. Accurate, consistent like a heavy barrel should be. Thanks as always.
Appreciate the information as always, thank you I truly hope that you're still putting out content when you're the age of Clint Smith. I'd like to see what "insufferably smarmy" turns into after a couple more decades. Cheers!
My duty rifle is a 10.5 mcx with a surefire socom suppressor. I really hate the thing. Its super heavy for such a bare bones build. Mro optic. Surefire light and sling and feels like its weighted like a hammer. Hows the balance on this rifle?
I was interested in the original 415 and piston ARs in general. I was really looking into the Patriot Ordnance Factory ones. I may still, but this is a very viable option. The website shows a cold hammer barrel on only the 10.5 barrel option. Something for them to look into. Maybe you would review the POF uppers to give a bit of a comparison. Just a selfish thought. Have a good day, and we'll be seeing some more vids soon.

I was about to drop kick my bank account’s sack and build out a 416 w/ Hk parts, but haus manufacturing hasn’t answered my emails on restock eta for their barreled upper. That and about Hk pricing; why does hk hate ppl? Haha. Great vid and review, subscribed.
@ Did you have machining marks/chatter all over your upper receiver like so many ppl do? Is all cosmetic but i wondered if they refined the process and we got newer and cleaner uppers. Im curious.
@@Regular_Guy_Training_LLCits all cosmetic, i know, but i was curious, if they are all like that. Im wondering if their new batch is better. Wouldnt hurt to ask right? Thanks!
@A.T.TomICBomBr87 np Reason I can gather for the marks is as you said they are all cosmetic and the time it would take to remove them from the billet uppers would add enough to cost to defeat the purpose of the upper in the first place.
Hey man, id really love to see a test and review of guard dog plates. For their weight and price some think its too good to be true and think somethings up. Its be really cool to know for sure.
So after looking at the price and review. This is impressive. For those of us who don’t own a DI AR15 and don’t care too anymore. This is a solid path to upgrade an AR15 lower. I’ll compare it to a JAKL and for the price it seems better to not just a jakl upper but almost any other piston upper save maybe a PWS on sale.

Thank you for the very thorough review. I appreciate your opinion on the recoil impulse and the use of suppressors with the upper. I hav a nefarious arms chrome lines upper, but I am considering the 10.4 BRN-4 upper on my Colt SBR.

I love it when people notice that lol
@ man, I grew up playing that masterpiece as a kid, and it was so ahead of its time. The soundtrack never leaves you.
@shabbatshalom-im6pl I still play the updated engine and mods for it
@ I have played the SCP. The updated graphics make it much nicer. Also got to play coop since now we aren’t all on dialup
Thanks man for doing an actually watchable video on the BRN4 and not just a bitch-fest about piston rifles or clone-nerding. Got me considering picking up a 14.5 upper and playing with the type.
Glad to be of some help man.
I'm likely gonna pick up a 13.7 for a short m27 build
Never disappoint. No bull shit review.
Great vid bro ! Much appreciated
Looking at the site they don't have a heavy chrome option.. so would you do the medium chrome or the heavy nitride?
How much they have in stock varies, you can always wait for what you want, but if I have to choose I already have the medium chrome..... so....
I love my 416 upper, i swapped the 10.4 vented gas block to a 14.5 vented gas block and it runs amazing supressed.
Appreciate the information as always, thank you
I truly hope that you're still putting out content when you're the age of Clint Smith.
What’s your barrel profile?
Im doing a 416a5 inspired built on a lwrc m6 ambi lower, have a brn-4 bcg group and this video make me feel good about picking one up 🤙
Question , did you rattle can the gun ? Or cerakote ?
Spray paint
I was interested in the original 415 and piston ARs in general. I was really looking into the Patriot Ordnance Factory ones. I may still, but this is a very viable option. The website shows a cold hammer barrel on only the 10.5 barrel option. Something for them to look into.
Maybe you would review the POF uppers to give a bit of a comparison. Just a selfish thought.
Have a good day, and we'll be seeing some more vids soon.
Your vid and goldenwebb’s vid has sealed the deal for me to start buying brn4 parts. I was about to drop kick my bank account’s sack and build out a 416 w/ Hk parts, but haus manufacturing hasn’t answered my emails on restock eta for their barreled upper. That and about Hk pricing; why does hk hate ppl? Haha. Great vid and review, subscribed.
Glad to be of some help
@ Did you have machining marks/chatter all over your upper receiver like so many ppl do? Is all cosmetic but i wondered if they refined the process and we got newer and cleaner uppers. Im curious.
@A.T.TomICBomBr87 I have the same marks
@@Regular_Guy_Training_LLCits all cosmetic, i know, but i was curious, if they are all like that. Im wondering if their new batch is better. Wouldnt hurt to ask right? Thanks!
@A.T.TomICBomBr87 np
Reason I can gather for the marks is as you said they are all cosmetic and the time it would take to remove them from the billet uppers would add enough to cost to defeat the purpose of the upper in the first place.
Huh, I pointed out the BRN-4 literally yesterday to buddy. Now here's a review on it.
For the algorithm. Very informative as usual.
Your rifles always have great paint jobs. Any chance of an updated painting rifle video?
I put one out not to long ago
Hasn’t watched video yet hits like button refuses to elaborate
Hey man, id really love to see a test and review of guard dog plates. For their weight and price some think its too good to be true and think somethings up. Its be really cool to know for sure.
So after looking at the price and review.
This is impressive. For those of us who don’t own a DI AR15 and don’t care too anymore. This is a solid path to upgrade an AR15 lower.
I’ll compare it to a JAKL and for the price it seems better to not just a jakl upper but almost any other piston upper save maybe a PWS on sale.
Best reviews on the you tubes.
Would you recommend this upper if never used suppressed?
He said yes. At the end of the video.
