That's exactly what I thought! 😂 I thought I knew everything about their discography that would interest me, then I listened to "Safety" and "The Blue Room" EPs, then I found out that they added bonus tracks for a lot of their singles and now this! 😂 And it's shoegaze as fork, love this one
And the thing is some of their best songs are hidden like this I mean can't they record and publish everything they make?😭😂 I wish how to see the world for example would be on deezer but no
Coldplay was inspired by U2, U2's favorite band is coldplay. I think to have those two bands mentioned in the same sentence would make them both feel good!
As far as I can see All time and circuitry Is wrong As far as poetry Sit down and sing to me A song It's 'cause all I want in this world All I want in this world Is for you to come home A spell, a rebel yell A spell Soldier, come home to me You've been away from me So long All I want in this world All I want and deserve Is for you to come home A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell A spell, a rebel yell
neither is better than the other..they're both great in their own class...how i like to view it, is that U2 is Coldplay's grand daddy; both closely related and great in their own time and place :)
Purchase the Viva La Vida Prospekt's March edition to get most of the songs from the Viva recordings. The only place you'll get A Spell A Rebel Yell is from a Violet Hill single that was given out to NME readers in England, or something like that. It was on Vinyl. Either way, my point is that this song is not on CD. So just get the Black and Gold Viva La Vida, and you'll get the original album and Prospekt's March in one package.
Oh okay, I actually don't know the difference between an A-side or B-side. I figured a B-side was everything recorded during a session for an album that didn't make it on the album. So you're right, there is definitely less b-sides for Viva La Vida.
Coldplay releases a lot of singles for their albums which include b-sides. For example, on X&Y, the Speed of Sound single had Things I Don't Understand(I LOVE THIS SONG) and Proof. The Viva singles are Violet Hill which has this song, Viva La Vida which has Death Will Never Conquer, and Life In Technicolor ii has The Gold Rush. But the other albums didn't get an EP like Prospekt's March, so there's definitely more B-sides there.
@GijoLLa The music is from Brian Eno! The same guy who produced U2 in the late 1980's! So u cant compare this bands on that song.. it's the same guy who did the song! ;) ever noticed why Coldplay now have the same sonud like U2 in the 80's? no u can think about it!

this song is the b side to "Violet Hill" but is not available on iTunes. "The Escapist" is a hidden track in the "Death and All HIs Friends" track, which is easily downloaded on either the "Viva la Vida" album or the "Viva la Vida (Prospekt's March Edition)" album, which if you don't have either, I highly recommend the Prospekt's March Edition, which has such great songs not on VLV as Life in Technicolor II and Glass of Water.
Also, it'll most likely include this song... as well as Famous Old Painters, Life in Technicolor (with the original lyrics!) and Chris Martin's duet with Kylie Minogue.
Its like they took Bono's voice from a song like Mother's of the Disappeared and just made the background music a little techo! But, then again, they both worked with Brian Eno, so I guess I can see the reasoning.
Haha, it's okay. An EP is usually considered an album with 3-5 songs... so it's not going to be a full album, but more like a sample album. The songs that will be on the one that comes out in March are probably all going to be songs that the band recorded and were going to use on Viva la Vida, but decided against it. :)
Yeah. Coldplay originally wrote lyrics to Life in Technicolor, but then decided they liked it better without them... so the EP in March (although some sources are now saying it'll be in January) will include Life in Technicolor, with lyrics.
Well Luhna with Kylie Minogue was one, and I'm pretty sure the Prospekt's March songs were wrote for Viva aswell, but I don't know for certain. It was Coldplay who said that they just wrote a ton of songs so they had more choice or something like that in an interveiw, they didn't release them though, like they did for A Spell Rebel Yell. Other than that I don't know of any others. Sorry I couldn't be anymore of a help, mate.
Coldplay is perfection. They're the best band in the world, for me. I'll never stop loving them. I loved them since Parachutes and I will forever.

This song is super underrated this would be awesome to hear live
Whenever I think I have discovered all of coldplay's songs, I find another one. Are their songs infinite???

The melodies in this song are quite similar to melodies on Mothers of the Disappeared by U2!

A song
It's 'cause all I want in this world
All I want in this world
Is for you to come home
A spell, a rebel yell

Soldier, come home to me
You've been away from me
So long
All I want in this world

u2 is like my father, while coldplay is like my brother..love u2 and coldplay with all of my heart
No, they're right. It'll only be in EP, but Chris announced the other day that we should expect it in March of 2009. Coldplay spoils us too much! :)
Coldplay is the classiest bant gracing the earth we stand on.

so beautiful.
i knooowwww he adds so much to their sound
Never heard this one :o
I know right, can't believe in just hearing this ! Beautiful
LOVE COLDPLAY
This was a song available in NME only. It was pressed on vinyl and came out in the UK only about six weeks before Viva La Vida was released.
Reminds me of “Plainsong - The Cure”.
The musical rifts sound euphoric, alongside a quieter vocal male for pleasant listening.
this song bleeds Jon Hopkins
This kind of reminds me of A Whisper
happy birthday Violet Hill , 8 years!!! :D

This is the loveliest song of their Viva la vida era
the escapist is, as said, a hidden track on viva la vida or deatha and all his friends.
this song is on the vinyl-edition of the violett hill-Single
Speechless
Wow ,that's a great song !
ATTENTION EVERYONE- This song is from the Violet Hill single, only released in Europe. You can order it (imported) from Amazon.

You can’t tell me they weren’t atleast inspired by shoegaze on some of these tracks from this era
anyone heard of it? maybe there will be released a new coldplay album in 2010...i hope so
@2moronsonamission It is on the "Violet Hill" single.
It was on a promotional "Violet Hill" 7" single that came free with an issue of NME. Not available anywhere else.

The reason why Coldplay sounds like U2 is because of Brian Eno. Both are amazing bands and it will always be that way.

Hello there from 12 YEARS ago! Wow, time flies
this sounds like Old-school 16 bit video game music!! hah!! (in a cool retro way)
Brian Eno now controls the electric sounds in their songs I think.
love dis song war is not the answer
you betta brotha
@disdainfulpatricia It's the B-side of the Violet Hill single. wich came out just before Viva la Vida, so it's kind of "rare".

Maybe in the UK, I bought the vinyl 2 weeks ago, not on it.
This is so good! I love the guitar riffs on it.
awesome
This gives me strong U2 Mothers of the Disappeared vibes
awesome song, best b/side ever

@kayschoe97 Its a B-side for Violet Hill.
this reminds me of Robert Plant's "In The Mood". similar vibe.
@TwiliticHorizon I love both. Coldplay and U2 are similar. I really don't understand why you don't like U2. Why do you dislike U2?
i love this song, why isn't it on the cD?!
sounds like 70 s to me which is awesome
@st3phand4vid ohhhh, thanks for telling
i think itunes should put all of the B-side songs on there
@LiMaBoMiss It should come out November 25th. :D :D :D
This should be on the album. No, it should be the A-side to Violet Hill. I want this song for myself..
