As a partial Dummy to this and many things computer based, I found it uncommonly easy to follow with your concise and clear tuition even as a 67 year old Dinosaur. - Thanks. Bill, Cornwall, England
Thank you. I work at a church and the bulletins are going to be in Publisher beginning next month. Thank you for helping me understand the process. Excellent!!
So, I wanted to make some binder cover pages for my cousin. It was a pretty simple design. I just wanted a cool image as background and a simple table where he could write the name of the subject and some other information. I opened Word and spent more than 20 minutes trying to do it but it was a pain in the ass. The table would move constantly, the image was not ok, etc, etc. Finally, after what seemed like a lifetime I remembered there's a tool called Publisher!! Anyway, I deleted my Word document, opened my Publisher and in less than 5 minutes I had all the cover pages done. People tend to forget about publisher since it's not used as frequently as Word. Well, let me tell you, it's a great tool.
I love Publisher and have used it for many years. In fact, many years ago I did an oversized magazine layout for a friend on this platform that she published for about three years. She wanted me to buy an expensive page publishing program, but this was already in the Microsoft package that I had. I learned a lot and still use it a lot today. I really don't understand why it isn't more popular. Thank you for this video. :) I just used it this week to make flashcards for a class and I used it at Christmas to design some tags for Christmas gifts. :) I would love to see more advanced videos on this program. Another great feature is that you can design oversized pages and have them printed up at a print shop if you do not have an oversized printer.
'you can design oversized pages and have them printed up at a print shop if you do not have an oversized printer.' an oversized giant would appreciate this sentence ;-j
Only 2 minutes to the video... and I love it so much, thank you for your detailed instruction!!! I never use Publisher in the past and was just assigned a task using this and I found your video!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Just subscribed!!!
First - THANK YOU. I know this is an older tutorial (published 03/26/18), but I wanted to leave a comment for the algorithm because it’s a good tutorial. I’ve been in a “Mac world” for a couple of years, but a new job that I’m pursuing will be based primarily using Publisher. It’s been a while since I’ve used it and this was the perfect refresher I needed. So, thank you again 😊
Hey Rinas! Just curious, but I'm wondering what is the new job you're pursuing that requires the use of Microsoft Publisher. I haven't noticed too many people use this over tools like Canva in recent times.
I'm gonna start a Technical Writer Degree next year and we'll have to use Publisher along with Photoshop and other similar softwares. Thank you for you tutorial, it was so easy to understand and now I'm much less stressed out about my future courses! Greatings from France!
Amazing video. I opened up my publisher to work along with you. Your the perfect teacher. Please continue this series and teach us how to make more complicated fliers.
Probably because of the Echo dot and google home publicity at the end... but that allows him to continue producing quality videos. I would do the same on my channel.
Thank u So Much! I'm a Grade 4 Student in the Philippines and I'm trying to learn to make a Document this yelped me alot and don't worry I'm teachers is helping me too
Thank you for your easy-to-understand instructions. I've been using Publisher for several months to produce my club's newsletter; today on your video I learned several tips that will make my job much easier. I look forward to watching more of your videos!
Wow wow wow wow!!! I am 28 yrs old and I am just finding out about publisher 🤯🤯🤯🤦♀️ never have I used it in my life and in my head I’m just thinking of all the things I would like to make with publisher... I am studying to be a teacher would love to see videos on how to make lesson plans with publisher. Thanks for this awesome video by the way!
Thank you thank you! I am on the Fine Arts Board at our high school and I send out the newsletters. I was overwhelmed with the information that has to go in there and Had no idea where to start.
Fantastic tutorial! I could Never understand Publishing but thanks to you I was able to create a banner using one of the Templates for my class reunion! It’s beautiful! Thank you so much! I just subscribed!
It is okay to see how Publisher works and I watch all the videos on this channel :-) However, almost none of my students have Publisher and certainly will not buy the very expensive Professional Plus Office Suite by Micro$oft. They are not willing to pay for software that they might occasionally or might not use at all. In the teaching context, I absolutely advocate the idea and philosophy of *Free and Open Source Software (F.O.S.S)* that is published under the GNU General Public License (GPL). To my knowledge, *SCRIBUS* is such software that will do the job just as well as the Micro$oft proprietary software. This is why I introduce mainly F.O.S.S software to my students such as LibreOffice, VLC, Gimp, Openshot/KDEnlive, Audacity etc. They are surprised that they have never heard of such powerful tools that are available with all the freedom and for free. Additionally, I make them install Ubuntu and Linux Mint on our old school notebooks and we have revived many old computers and notebooks (even Macbooks and iMacs!) after this stunning experience that would otherwise have been ditched on landfills. Plus: this software and even the entire operating system does not spy on you. There is no company behind it that sells their customers' identity because it is community-driven. (Latest incident would be Cambridge Analytica and the Facebook scandal that can happen everywhere and at any time) What does the community here think?
First of all, your comment has no place or purpose under this video. Linux, or GNU/Linux, as you probably call it, has almost no desktop market share (2%). In the Industrialized World that use is a mere fraction of 1%. I travel a lot in my job and I'm in a lot of different offices, across many different companies, and I have NEVER seen anyone running Ubuntu or Linux Mint with LibreOffice. It just doesn't happen. Why would any business or school district run Linux/F.O.S.S. when they can get professional, commercial grade software for FREE. My States' Board of Education provides every student with their own copy of Microsoft Office 365. Scribus is a large software package that's trying to compete with InDesign. Microsoft Publisher doesn't compete in that larger arena. It's a smaller, more personal program that does some amazing things. Plus, it's only $130 if you want the standalone package. That's not a lot. Personally, I LOVE using Windows 10. I think it's so great, I became certified on it. F.O.S.S. is nothing more than Open Source SHAREWARE. The whole F.O.S.S. notion of, "The software is free, but leave us a donation", doesn't work. People are greedy. They take, but they don't give. That's REALITY! How much money have YOU ever donated to any Linux distro or F.O.S.S. project 13DCR? No, REALLY!! How much? I think we BOTH know the answer to that question. $0.00!!! The old saying remains true: "You get what you pay for" P.S. Do you even USE Scribus?? I’ve noticed that a lot people in the Linux world like to push people toward these open source packages like, Scribus, Krita and Darktable, only to find out later that they don’t even use the packages themselves and have no idea how they work or IF they work.
Thank you very much sir. These basics will be useful to many who would want to do some basic but practical publishing. You are an excellent coach. Wish you success.
By selecting the Picture layout option with Through, anyone can easily move pictures in MS Word also. So it should not be a limitation for MS Word. Thank you.

Agree! I too have used it for years and have hundreds, truly literally hundreds of publisher files. Very underrated.

Microsoft needs to advertise Publisher and Access like they do with word and excel

in word you can drag images, too. You just have to set the setting to "In front of the text" or "Image behind the text". This will do the same thing.
