Or if they feel like they aren't worthy of a great person like you you can't win it over no matter what. If their self love and confidence isn't high as yours and go through their own struggles,, they have to work on that, you can't fix them no matter what or understanding you are.
Have u considered that one of the partners may be on the narcissist spectrum, and u they want to keep their exes as a friends for control? Btw it’s not a power game, a healthy relationship is balanced give and take. If it’s a power struggle for control, it’s not the right relationship for u and not true love. Someone can only love u as much as they love themselves and vice versa.

My baby daddy says he won’t be in a relationship with me yet he sleeps over a few times a week and comes to me whenever he needs someone to be there for him. He knows I love him and that’s probably why he does it. I want a family for my children but that doesn’t seem to be a priority to him. I keep having hope because he’s around and I think if I can show him how much I care he will want to be with me but that doesn’t work. I healed as well he hasn't though. I don't think cuz he keeps messaging me saying hi can we please chat he keeps sending me friend request on Facebook and I don't trust adding him back cuz he hurt me in the past he blocked me while he was in a relationship with me and I'm scared he'll do it again I'm scared he's going to hurt me again all over again. Can't trust him yet my trust is broken still from his actions he did to me my trust hasn't healed
I have completely gone silent on him- zero calls, zero texts.... but we work together so unfortunately I can’t completely disappear as much as I would like to. We broke up and 2 weeks later he was dating someone else. We never had a big fight or big blow up and when we did break up, I never chased him. My problem is, not knowing if I am doing the right thing at work when i do interact with him. I don’t go out of my way to look for him, but when he does initiate communication or interaction, I’ve always been very nice, polite and never show him how upset I am. I just don’t know if by me doing that, gives him the impression I never really cared and instead, reassures him of his decision to be with the new girl.
I'm on the same position, but I think it's better your way. If my ex tries to talk to me, I end up crying and walking away!!! I can't help it!!! It driving crazy. I'm trying to transfer I can't stand this situation anymore.
mzaragoza014 I’m so sorry you’re feeling this way. I honestly just try to get into a specific energy when I’m around him. I tell myself “I got this. I’m okay. I’m strong” and I even sometimes snap my fingers- as crazzzzzyyyyy as that sounds. It helps me get out of that negative energy and what I have found, is that instead of his energy affecting me, my energy is felt by him. I get the power back. It’s a matter of energy- literally- what you put out into the situation is what you will get back. If you start crying and thinking “I hate this situation”, guess what? The situation will continue to stay the same so you can keep hating it because it’s what you keep calling into your space.
Snap your little fingers away. Talk positively to yourself. You define the situation, the situation does NOT define you, darling. Chin up.

mzaragoza014 dont communicate with him, give him space, but ALWAYS remain nice, polite and FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT!!!!! Be as happy as you can be around him.... he went with someone completely opposite to you. That says a lot. Give him that space he is requiring, but also so he can see you’re still your great self and he didn’t break you. Again, fake it till you make it. My SO divorced someone 17 yrs his senior and he flat out says that marriage was the worst mistake of his life because the age difference became very apparent very early on but he never wanted to see the signs. Let your man see them. Feel them. And miss you all at the same time.

I just broke up with my ex.
It wasn't a bad breakup. We just kind of grew out of each others.
She started studying in another city and I was focusing on my job a lot. So we didn't see each others a whole before she went and study.
I told her if she wants to break up we will talk about it in person when we meet at the end of the this month.
But she decided to write it instead.
Which is the most cowardly thing she has ever done to me. I just lost all respect for her.
My guess is that her new friends have been a bad influence on her. Because the decision to break up kind of came out of nowhere from her side.
She tells me that she still loves me and that she still wants to be my friend like before.
But she isn't even writing anything to keep this "friendship" going.
I feel like I'm the one starting our conversations and she isn't.
I'm going to meet her this week, like a month after the break up.
I'm honestly not sure what to say and what to do.
I'm just going to give her stuff back to her. After that I guess im moving on.

The meeting went better than I expected.
She still says she wants to be friends.
But I kind of doubt that.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted of me.

Nice advice. But we also be honest about why we want our ex back and be honest with our true feelings instead of just keeping him around. Otherwise, we would be like them and try to keep them while we might not see a future with them as well.

I was in a relationship with for 5 years. I broke up with him 9 months ago to learn to be alone/autonomous/healthy. I haven't dated and tried reconciling after 6 months of separation - the past 3 months have been a wave of mixed messages from him (e.g. wanting to try again, then not wanting to and only friends, then not wanting to be friends, to time and space, to wanting to be friendly and in contact). He said he sees that I've changed, am attractive and shining - and that it's inspired him to now grow himself. But he wants to do it for him, not us. I respect this. I have rebuilt my life and he sees my growth - he wants to stay in contact on the phone but not dating. It seems friendly. No flirting. Where do I go from here? How do I rebuild without pursuing him? As of now, all he knows it that I want him in my life but I don't want to be in a relationship because I'm learning how to be emotionally resilient. I was very emotionally dependent on him and scared of that happening again.

I have been with my husband for a little over 8 years. We have Hitchhiked across the country together. I stayed with him even though I knew he had no home of his own except for an overhead camper in a friend's yard and no job. That didn't matter to me I Loved him for him. Over the eight plus years it has been off and on again seeing no one else he just needed and wanted space when he would get mad at me for one reason or, another. This last time he now has been gone for 4 weeks and finally reached out to me in the last two days but, still saying there isn't a "we" anymore and he wants a Divorce but, can't financially afford to pay the costs for one. It’s been over a year. I’m planning on reaching out possibly next month. He hasn’t reached out within that time, but I know when he’s hurt he throws himself into work and tries to avoid thinking about the painful thing. It was long distance and was going into the military after graduation college so there was a lot of uncertainty around what would happen to us and that’s why he ended it. Jesus.. i just looked at the comments. So many of us are in such similar situations. My ex is moving out this weekend. I am ready to stop all contact. Can't be the one who had been trying for 4 months (3.5 relationship). I am ready to focus on myself. You cannot pull someone into loving you, don't ever let them make you their safe haven second option. We're all worth more than that. I keep asking myself - why would I want to be with someone who isnt equally invested? I cant. I would not want to stay with me if she would keep acting distant for a day longer. Also try to perceive them as a stranger because thats what they are. Their character, nature, feelings, posture, words - all changed. Is it the same person you are convincing yourself you love so much or a memory of good old times?

Hi Coach, me and my gf broke up a week ago and she wants to chill we me as friends. She said "we can't go back together because if we do we need to be very serious and probably get married but we can't go there anymore. So as friends ok?" and I said yes at the time.

I am going to quit my teaching job in Trinidad and relocate to Canada. There are teaching jobs there. I initiated talks about if he could go anywhere in the world and start over where would he like to go, and he, on his own, said Canada. He doesn’t know of my actions to go to Canada.
Now, here is my question: should I tell him that I have hired an Immigration Agency to gain citizenship and jobs in Canada now or should I wait until I get the job and begin selling my furniture? I had written a book and dedicated it to him, he was moved but still would not say that he wants us back together. I know he’s biding time with the hope to meet someone else. What do i do: do I include him in the immigration process now or should I wait until I leave Trinidad for Canada to tell him? Now or later? We were married for 16 years, I know him since 1999. We grew up together. We have no kids though, what do I do?
Celena I know it's tough but you need to focus on your inner being. Don't ever chase someone who has lost feelings for you. Just let it go and feel the pain. No contact might make him miss you but don't dwell on him anymore. . I'm saying by experience. Hope it helps

So I married another and moved on.. Last year, my Dear Husband passed away.. I was devastated and just drifted into loneliness.. Then, my Ex, who never married.. got my number from a friend.. We chatted on WhatsApp, We met for the first time after 40 long years.. and now We remain just good Friends . At this point, being in my early 60s.. I realized that I am falling in love again.. and I can't stop thinking about Him..
He has mentioned that he's given up on relationships as he had bad experiences..
Alex, I do hope I could rekindle our love and open a new page in our lives.. What should I do?..
