I bought the Colorados but found those large openings on the side let in too many pebbles from our launching beaches. I like these but wonder about the deep tread on the soles and what they might do to your tramps over time. Got to believe that smoother soled shoes will give you more surface grip on surfaces such as tramps, sidebars, etc.
Yes, proper sailing shoes/boots will always be better, for an alround beach/walking/running/sailing etc shoe i was very impressed with these.
"Wow, there is also a second shoe in the box" This joke says a lot. I don't often meet a person with a great mind and a kind heart.

JB, how are those for a Laser or any boat with hiking straps?
Probably not the best as there's no protection for the ankle and the mesh isn't going to last so long on a hiking boat.

Yes, I think so - because there are fewer places for small stones to get in on the beach and the have complete coverage which gives a little more confidence.
